So, I had a loss on 10/31, which they counted as the first day of my LMP when calculating my due date. I, however, knew (with a decent amount of certainty) that I ovulated on 11/17, about 3 days after the "normal" O date based on LMP. When I went in for my ultrasound, the Midwife did tell me that my O date must be correct, as I was spot-on about where the baby should be developmentally (measuring at exactly at 7w1d, as I predicted). She said, however, that since it was only three days off from my LMP date, that they'd just go with that. So instead of putting my EDD at 8/9, as predicted based on O date and where the baby was developmentally, they put my EDD at 8/6. Based on THAT due date, I'm 3 days "farther along" than..well, than I REALLY am. If that makes sense. Now I'm not sure if I'm 9w3d today, or 9w6d (and yeah, I've been thinking about this since that appt at 7w1d).
I know it doesn't REALLY matter in the grand scheme of things (because due dates are just an estimate and babies can come two weeks before/after a due date and still be healthy) but it's really bothering me that I don't know which date to tell people when they ask, or which date to go by when I think/talk about how far along I am! I've always been a "ticker change Tuesday" check-in person, but based on my due date/LMP, I should really be counting myself as a Saturday ticker change person. Which date would you guys go by? Or is this literally the dumbest question on this board? Lol

Re: Two different due dates? Which one would you tell people?
In the end, it doesn't really matters, so choose the due date you like.
BFP #1: 08/17/2012 DD1 born 05/01/2013
BFP #2: 07/31/2015 M/C 09/23/2015 (11.5 weeks)
Like you said, it doesn't really matter that much. It's easier to just stick with the one date for everything.
2.
Likely neither will be the day you give birth
Its not that serious
You can't go through the next 8 months with that kind of uncertainty! No m'am!
Are either of you even due in August? I don't think I've seen either of you post in the check-ins.
I've been pregnant before, sometimes I have useful advice, am I not allowed to share? A 3 day difference is not a big deal. You stated in your OP that your concern was because you didn't know what to tell people when they asked.... I mean really.... *that* is not that serious.
I'm not saying you don't have valid input, having had a kid before (I've had one too) but I asked people in this group specifically because they're at around the same point of their pregnancies as I am. Had someone asked ME this question before I was pregnant again, I probably would've rolled my eyes. But when you're this early, and you just had a miscarriage at 5 weeks (so every single day closer to 12 weeks is cause for celebration), yeah, it kind of matters to me, which is why I asked in the first place.
Pick whichever date makes you happy and go with that. Your baby might be measuring five days ahead or behind right now and the EDD you choose won't be accurate. Is your life going to drastically change if that happens? Probably not. So pick a date and stop thinking about it. I think you'll be much happier.
Baby's measurements will continue to change. Different u/s machines have different levels of sensitivity. This isn't that hard.

Basically, the risk of miscarriage decreases as time goes on (we all know this). Your risk of m/c at 9w6d is 2%. Your risk of m/c at 10w is 2%
I put 10/31/15 in at the top, but you can play around with the dates and see how it changes.
I appreciate your feedback, and everyone else's! I'll keep going with August 9th, the later date, because the biggest reason this matters at the moment is that I'm counting down the days until I hit that 12 week mark, when miscarriage risk drops to the lowest it'll get. I know 3 days isn't a big deal but I'm a massive worrier and I don't like not knowing.
*hugs* @Kristin712 thanks for the welcome ^_^
I think I gave you a helpful link.
But again, it's just three days, and I should really just stop worrying so much because it won't change anything.
I put how far along I am as the latest due date just because I could go with the later gestational age but that's not going to change anything with the baby growth/risk of miscarriage.
With my daughter I was given an original EDD of 10/26/11. At her first anatomy scan she was measuring behind by 8 days. So, we had the EDD moved to 10/17/11. She arrived on her own on 10/19/11.
My CNM & OB don't advocate changing EDD unless there is a 7 day difference. I'm not sure a 3 day difference is significant enough to produce worry.
I understand first trimester is full of uncertainty & worry, but I believe you (@1faceinthecrowd) are really reaching for a reason to be upset here. It's 3 days. Relax as best you can. Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy. Whatever EDD you decide to use is really up to you. If it were me I'd go with however baby was measuring at your appointment.

P.S. I had a c-section so the due date would matter to my ob.
3 days is really nothing. In your 12-13w scan they will be happy if you're measuring plus or minus a week if everything is developing well. I understand counting down so simply put, medically your EDD is what your doctor says. If it was a difference of more than a week (or even two) there's room to argue if you believe there's a possible problem with how it will impact your pregnancy or delivery (measuring small, early induction or c/s). But seriously? 3 days? Calm your farm.
