37w4d today. Had a cervix check on December 31 at 36w6d and was 4cm and 70% effaced (up from 2cm and 70% the week before at 35w3d). STM so Dr. told me to be prepared to head to the hospital at any time. Lost mucus plug on Friday and a little more on Saturday. Been having stronger BH off and on since my appointment on Thursday but little man has stayed put! Was really hoping to not be at work this morning, but alas, here I am. Just trying to keep busy and my mind off of every little twinge. Next appointment is Thursday Jan. 7 - if I make it!
I had my first cervical exam today at 39+1. I'm soft, but only a fingertip dilated But I did get an ultrasound to ensure baby isn't breech -- she is not, her butt is just very round and feels a little like a head haha. She is also sitting very low! I scheduled an induction for 1/13 in the event that baby doesn't arrive by my due date...so the end is in sight!!
40 weeks today... Zero progress. I have been 90% effaced and 1 cm dilated for the last 3+ weeks. Doctor scheduled an induction today, so we go in tomorrow night to get things started. If all goes well, we should meet our little girl on Wednesday!
So I'm pretty sure i've lost my mucus plug already, and now mad (TMI) diarrhea at 37+6. Some severe abdominal cramping as well, but I'm not sure if it's contractions (everyone keeps telling me I'll know when they happen but I'm never sure). They are fairly regular though. And back cramping as well--> which turns into the abdominal cramping. There has been a bug going around, but I've essentially isolated myself so I'm hopeful that I've avoided that. Going to wait and see if it continues another couple hours or gets more painful (so far it's not too too bad, kind of like the worst menstrual cramps I've ever had). Blah I wish I knew what I was supposed to be feeling... would make this FTM thing way less stressful
38 weeks for me, and I've been getting intense pressure in my crotch (only once or twice a day), like she's trying to push herself out. Lasts a couple minutes and feels different from lightening crotch, which I've also started to feel these last few days. FTM so I have no idea what to expect. No cervical checks until I'm 40 weeks, which is fine with me. I just wish there was some way to know & plan what day she's coming!
I got checked today at my appointment- 2.5 cm. A couple hours later I kept feeling like I was having little gushes and then when I was walking around the store contractions, backache, tons of pressure, totally thinking in my head this is it! But now it seems to have fizzled out. But I can't decide if I should get checked anyways for the fluid :-/ seems to me like it must have been really thin discharge or just baby boxing my bladder because if it was fluid seems like it wouldn't have stopped right? Ugh. I was so excited and now I'm just grumpy.
Just had check at 39 weeks... Still no progress as far as dilation or effacing she couldn't even sweep my membranes - oh well. I just got a new nursing book so I guess I will have a little extra time to read it and I know he'll come when he's ready! I'm just so ready to meet him!!
Laid around today and got up to wet pants. Called my ob and they sent me to L&D. Tested negative for fluid, and had an internal. I'm now a soft 1.5 cm dilated (up .5 from last week!) but came home to red blood "spotting". Urgh.
I called the nurse about the potential leaking fluid that stopped just to see if they wanted me to get checked. She said it was probably the gel from the exam but to keep an eye on it! Made perfect sense, and definitely made me feel better than hearing I was probably peeing myself lol. Anyways I thought I'd share in case someone else has a similar experience
Does anyone know if there's a correlation between increased lightning crotch and beginning to dilate?
lol I would like to know this too!!! My first cervical check was at 38weeks and at that point I really haven't felt much but this past week or so I've really been feeling more period like cramps and definitely waaaay more lightning crotch! I'd like to know too! I guess I'll find out Thursday at my appointment. For my sanity I'm praying I've made SOME progress.
Still feeling pain today. Mixed between period cramps and sharp pains, and gas pains lol. Went to a Mexican restaurant and tried to smoke the baby out by eating spicy foods but I don't think it worked lol. I could barely eat my meal after the chips and salsa I was so full. Midwife appointment appointment in the morning. I'll be 40+4. I don't think I'll be getting an internal exam but I secretly hope she can/will sweep my membranes to speed things along. I hope people aren't getting annoyed by my excessive updates. This is the only place I like to share lol
Started our induction tonight. Contractions are coming every 2-3 mins and are increasing in strength. Hopefully we Weill start on pitocin in the morning and meet baby girl shortly after!!
I feel like I'm dying. 38w3d. I think I lost my mucus plug yesterday. And today there was some speckled blood on my toilet paper. And tonight I am just in so much pain. It's a cross between period cramps and almost like I'm getting the flu. I feel so full even though I've ate 2 small meals all day. I keep burping (weird, I know). I've been passing bowel movements all day. My back hurts. I AM JUST NOT FEELING OKAY AT ALL.
@kqualls5 I am out of breath even when I sit and I have intense back cramps like period cramps. I also get sharp chest pains. I move like a huge sea creature on land. I feel you!
It might be showtime for me, finally! Contractions all through the night but they are continuing this morning which is new. Still somewhat inconsistent but 45 seconds long and every 6-12 mins. I'm very hopeful! I'm 41+2 today and scheduled for induction tomorrow. Let's hope I don't need it.
For what it's worth, I got a bunch of weird flu-like symptoms last night. I was terrified I was getting sick which would shut down my labor but either a) those were actually labor symptoms or b) my body doesn't care and I'm doing this anyway. (I still have some nasty cold side effects today).
@kqualls5 this was me all day yesterday! I finally broke down around 8pm when my husband made a comment about me seeming not okay. I started crying saying that I felt awful and was having labor symptoms but still not in labor. Its so frustrating.
I have a question that may have already been asked. After the bloody show how long have people gone before going into labor? I started spotting Monday morning.
Today might be the day! Had back ache all night and woke up to menstrual type cramps. I'm due the 8th but I think my water just broke! Was standing at the counter drying my hair and felt a warm gush kind of like when your period begins. Thought maybe it was the show or MP but my pants were soaked. Yuck! Luckily (?) I have an appt in 30mins so they can confirm for me. Told hubby that while I'm gone I need him to get a bag together, his eyes got as big as moons! Fingers crossed!
Update: decided to cancel the appt because there is no longer a question about "if" my water broke. They told me to go directly to L&D but I don't want to sit around a hospital all day so I am going to wrap up a few loose ends with work, pack our bags, tidy up the house, get some lunch and then head in. Woohoo!

I was having contractions that were about 12 minutes apart at 3 am, so I decided to have my OB check my cervix at my appointment this morning. And guess who is STILL NOT DILATED. I'm going to be pregnant forever.
Frustrating @kqualls5 , sorry! The dilation (or lack thereof) might not really mean anything though! You can still go anytime.
My very promising labor has stalled out. 12 hours of painful contractions 8 mins apart, 45 seconds long and then...it just stopped. Unless a miracle happens I'll be going in for my induction tomorrow morning. So bummed out.
Today at 38 weeks I was 1 cm and 50% effaced. She said she could feel the babys head so she nice a low. I had my membranes stripped and she didn't even tell me that's what she was doing when she was doing it but it definitely hurt! She warned me I would bleed but it's more than I thought. Kinda looks like my period. I've been getting cramps so I'm hoping something happens soon. Fingers crossed.
Went to my dr appt today at 38+5 and he is "pretty confident" that I should go into labor sometime this week. I don't know what gives him that confidence besides the symptoms I told him about....but I'm just going to go with his instinct!
Last night I was contracting pretty regularly for about 5 hours but it calmed down to very irregular contractions since.... hoping it's just my body's way of gearing up. Any day.....
Feeling pretty crampy for the last 4.5 hours and (TMI) had some bloody show. I'm nervous but really excited because I feel like baby is gonna be on her way soon!!
@KFrob I had pink spotting for two days and my ob said it was my bloody show. That was almost 4 weeks ago and I am now scheduled for an induction Sunday (41 weeks). Hopefully it goes faster for you!
Headed in for my 38 week appointment this afternoon & hoping for a membrane sweep. I'm in so much pain from SPD I can barely walk. Hoping dr thinks it's a good idea!
Had another appointment today 37w6d and I am almost 6cm dilated, 70% effaced. I'm not feeling anything in the way of contractions or BH though so.... Also, baby boy isn't quite on my cervix - more to the right side. Dr said if I was 39w she would send me to l&d and break my waters to get things going but will just wait it out for now to see if things progress on their own. So weird and frustrating just waiting around!
I've been having Braxton hicks all day!! Are we 100% positive that everyone gives birth?! Because at this point I'm fairly certain that I'll be pregnant forever.
@leap_frog I swear they always say that in the last few weeks. My first pregnancy I thought they knew something but I think it's just something they say
@Ju111310 I know! I really wanted to just force her to keep me! I am about 10 minutes from the hospital from home and only 3 blocks from work so should be ok *fingers crossed*
39w5d and woke up thinking my water may have broken. Called in to work so I could take a half-day (I'm a teacher) and went to the doctor. False alarm, just watery discharge, no amniotic fluid. Got to work and found out that the office paged a teacher assistant over the intercom to cover my class, so EVERYONE thought I was in labor and wanted to know why I came to school halfway through the day. THEN found out that a coworker told some people that my water DID break (again, it didn't), which then turned into the wildfire rumor of "she wasn't in labor, she just peed herself." I DID NOT!!!
SO ready to have this baby so people will stop asking about my cervix and whether or not I'm having contractions! I know they mean well, but OMG! 70% effaced and 2cm dilated...hurry up, baby girl!
Scheduled a RCS for 1/22 at 39w2d and found out that my OB is out on unexpected medical leave. I feel terrible and hope she's ok, but I'm also a little nervous about a new doctor. Other than that I've been having very uncomfortable menstrual like cramps for most of the day and bad back pain. Hoping that MAYBE this means baby will come a little earlier and I can still try for a VBAC. Fingers crossed!
38 week check today and 2 cm dilated but she didn't tell me the effacement and I forgot to ask. But baby is sunny side up so I have some exercises to do...hopefully that will help baby put pressure on my cervix. A little disapointed as I was 3 cm at 36 weeks with dd.
Having some pretty solid contractions right now, 39 weeks tomorrow.... Haven't had any bloody show, lost any mucus plug, or had water break but my back hurts so bad and these contractions and requiring my full attention...lasting over a minute. Anyone go into labor without lost mucus plug, bloody show, or water breaking?
@amargaret24 it's definitely possible you're in labor! If the contractions get closer together I'd go to L&D, or at least call them to ask their policy for when to come in with contractions. Hopefully you get to meet your LO soon!

Has anyone's Dr. told them this before and was it right?
We scheduled an inducement for the 26th. 2 days before my due date. Although I much prefer the 7-10 days, there is an end in sight.
