  • If you google it report back...

Castor oil basically makes you poop yourself into labor. It can cause fetal distress and also cause your baby to poop in the womb which can be very dangerous.

  • I've got some very watery discharge that doesn't really smell at all. It's very different from my regularly stickier discharge, there isn't a lot of it, but I keep reading about how it could be a slow leak. It's 3:30 am, fiance works at 7, and I'm not sure if I should pop by labour and delivery and get it checked (that's procedure here, the nurses would contact OB if necessary). I'm 37+1 and don't want to be "that" mom that goes in for every little thing but with the constant tummy tightness, backache, and nauseous feelings I'm probably going to just to be safe.... gah why must normal pregnancy things also be indicators of labour?

  • I see a lot of you know how big your baby is (estimated, of course). I haven't had an ultrasound since 30 weeks to check on baby girl. I'm 36+3 and was at the doctor yesterday and he didn't mention it. Is this something I should be concerned about or just roll with it since all was well at our 30 week ultrasound?
  • @kelnate22 my 19 week would have been my last except I got one at 34 weeks because I wasn't feeling movement (which was fine), but that showed she was really small in size so now I get growth scans. Unless you are over 35 or high risk, I don't think it is strange that you haven't had a recent one.
  • @sarahbeara25 I just started having the same thing last night. Very different from what it has been. But at the same time I'm not filling up liner after liner....I figure I'll see how it goes this morning and I'll be calling into my OB. Let me know what you find out. Best of luck!

My OB won't do one either, I only got one due to food poisoning at 37w. Other than that my last US would have been at 32w.

I haven't had an ultrasound since my 20wk anatomy scan. My doctor has been at it for years and delivered so many. He seriously squeezed on my belly and took a guess. Lol. We were both laughing at it. He said, after you feel around on babies for so long you learn how big they will be (about, not exact). Ask your doctor to just guess for fun. I mean, ultrasound aren't even exact. Why not make a game of it to see how close they are. :P He said seven pounds for DD2, but probably closer to 6.5lbs. I cannot wait to see how close he was. Lol
  • I've had some extra discharge for at least a week now, paired with what feels like menstrual cramps. Loose bowels. I'm not sure if the cramps are Braxton hicks, real contractions or just cramps. Doctor a

My last ultrasound was 19 weeks! At my 37 week appointment I asked my doctor how big he thought baby was (my mom reminded me that back in the day that doctors used to feel and make a guess), and he said lower 6 pounds. So I'm thinking she'll be 7.5# max. I'm excited too see how close he is! My mom told me (after 6 kids) that her doctor's guesses were always close. I don't think my doctor would've guessed if I hadn't asked him, so I wouldn't be worried. It's just fun to speculate.

  • 39+4. No mucus plug, no BH, no bloody show.... Nothing but very very random period like cramps every day. They're never timeable and they're never super painful. Just a little dull pain. I don't necessarily mind that she's not here yet, but I wish maybe I had some encouragement that she will be here soon. Getting impatient little one! 3 more days until your eviction notice and then I'm pulling out all the stops to get her out. Well, the safe ones
  • Appointment today at 38w4d led to blood work for potential preeclampsia. Waiting on results and praying for the best. I would not mind going in tonight for an induction of sorts...which would facilitate my tax break and my already paid deductible :) I am so excited to meet her and just want her and I to remain healthy. Obviously I am only focusing on the positive and potential humor. Any experience with pre-E?
  • @ChrissyD1203 - how did your appt go? I'm still at zero dilation (barely a fingertip he said) and 0% effaced - oh well I guess baby is just content where he is! I am thankful he's happy and healthy but I am so ready to meet him! The good news is they said they won't let me go past 41 and would be open to scheduling an induction any time after 39 - so I'm thinking about it! Hope you got good news!
  • Midwife said baby is at a zero station so I don't have to try and get her in position anymore. She said baby is in the perfect position for birth. 60% effaced but did not say if I was dilated. So I guess now all I can do is wait on contractions lol.
  • @Ljohn43 - I was thinking about you too. No change for me either, and my OB said I also can't go past 41 weeks so next week (on my due date) we will be discussing an induction plan. Hopefully our bodies have a productive week this week!
  • @kelnate22 I've only had a bunch of ultrasounds because I have a really big cyst on my ovary. Otherwise I wouldn't have had any since 20 weeks either. Don't worry, no ultrasounds mean everything is healthy with your LO!

  • I've had constant cramping in my lower abdomen. I can't time it because it's constant. Is this a sign of labor. I'm a FTM so I'd if I'm missing something or what
  • @MammaDoc hello,
Oh I'm awake.... I wish it was because of contractions... No just has been impossible to sleep for the last week. I'm ready for labor to start. I'm at 40 weeks on Jan 1, last check 2 cm dilated and 60 % effacing, lost my mucus plug and nothing is going on. The worse part is that I can not sleep!
Anyway I sincerely hope everything goes well for you and the baby
  • I posted this somewhere else but it belongs here. Oops.
I've had post sex contractions. But last night I got the contractions from hell. 45 minutes of sweating because they hurt so bad. There were only 4-5 of them and they tapered off afterwards but for the last 7 hours I've still been having 1-2 big ones an hour. They aren't sweat worthy but they definitely kept me from sleeping and I have to consciously make my body relax because of them. Worth calling or wait it out because they're so few?
  • @maddisonwallace Does your doctor's office have an option where you can talk to a nurse and explain symptoms? I would do that if so.

  • Had my 38 week check yesterday, and My Dr. performed a cervical check. 50% effaced and 1 cm. dilated, plus baby girl is in position. She was so low my Dr. could feel her head, and told me, "for a first time mom, you've progressed really far!" I wish she hadn't said that, because now I feel like she's going to come any minute! I bled for a few hours after my appointment, which was freaky. Not just spotting, but actual bleeding. Anyone else experience this? And should I be concerned?
I also lost my mucus plug this morning. I thought it was my water breaking for a minute (felt a gush), and ran to the bathroom. No fluid, but it was definitely my mucus plug. Just more progress to add to my impatience!
  • Had my check up today 37+4 and was 1 cm dilated and 70% effaced. They also did an ultrasound and an NST and ultrasound showed pretty low fluid levels but baby scored really well on ultrasound checks and NST so the doctor sent me home for now. I'm now on bedrest and have to go to L&D this Saturday morning to see if she wants to induce me or not due to the fluid level (if things don't progress before then that is). Oh boy things are happening finally...
  • I had my 39 week appointment today...Since my 37 week appointment, I've stayed at 1 cm dilated and 25% effaced. So there's essentially been no progress, which is very discouraging to me. My due date is Monday (January 4th), so they are having me go in for an ultrasound and biophysical profile, just to make sure that baby is doing fine , and also to discuss the possibility of induction. I'm praying that something happens this weekend!

Yes I caved after I got a headache and started swelling badly. They are watching me closely because I am developing preeclampsia. I called and I am about to have a blood draw, urine sample, and check my bp. They will probably put me on bed rest. Sitting in the office waiting right now!
  • FTM here, on Dec 19th (36wk +4)me and hubby went to L&D because I was having contractions 5mins apart for over an hr. They check me was at 0cm still (same as 36appointment 4daya ago) and they have we walk the halls for an hour to see if I progressed any where. They sent me home because I barely progressed at all, not even a full cm. At my 37wk appointment (23rd) I was 2cm almost 3cm. And now at my 38wk appointment the 30th I was 3cm almost 4cm. Contractions and Braxton hicks everyday but no water breaking or unbearable. Running joke is that by the time I really go in labor I will be over half way there. Any other mother experience this? Will I go in the next day or two? Exhausted.

Dilation means nothing in terms of when you'll go into labor. My friend just delivered her baby and she was at 4+ cm for 6 weeks and wound up being induced 2 days past her due date. Although I totally wished it worked that way because then that means I would be going in here pretty soon! I've progressed almost an entire cm in 2 days so at this rate my boy would be here early!
  • I've been contracting since 1 and as of like 4:45 I've had some brownish blood

Tonight I have had painful cramping once every hour and fifteen minutes or so. It is pretty horrible, in my lower pelvic region and back and accompanied by chills and feeling like I am going to vomit. I have to stand up and walk around during them and it brings me to tears. They last about ten minutes. While they are going on, all I can think is that this has gotta be it and it's time to go to the hospital. Once they're over, I think I am overreacting and it is obviously not labor.

Any thoughts/insight? Is this something other people are experiencing? The timing of them seems off to me.

ETA- I am drinking tons of water, took a hot shower for relief, and laying down otherwise.

    PS- Happy new year!
