  • Weeks/Size: 31 weeks tomorrow! Pineapple, yum!

What's new with baby? She has developed all 5 senses now

    Appointments? Next Tues

Any new preparations for baby? Getting ready for that completion discount at Target to buy things!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: My stretch marks have been so itchy, I woke up this morning to find blood all over my stomach. I must've been scratching it in my sleep...

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? I'm on the fence still. I've always wanted 3 (this is my second) but I'm not so sure I want to go through pregnancy again. On the other hand, we would both like to try for a boy but there are no guarantees. I guess we'll have to see if we feel complete (if there is such a thing) after this little girl comes along.

What's new with baby? Lots of brain development, light sensitivity and all five senses.

Appointments? Midwife appointment on Thursday. We're also having our first official meeting with our new doula on Thursday.

    Any new preparations for baby?
This was a big week! We finished painting her room (and by "we" I mean DH, with me trying to stay out of the way and keep my mouth shut as much as possible until he was "done", then have him re/do certain sections, then I spent hours cleaning the carpet where he'd spilled paint or walked down the hall and stairs with paint on his feet like Babe the pig...), we booked a hospital tour for this weekend, and I've washed/prepped all the cloth diapers! I'm still not ready to cut tags and wash all her clothes. I don't know what I'm waiting for, but I think I'll know when I'm ready.

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings:
    See above for paint rant...
I also had the worst night of all three pregnancies this past week. So much acid reflux. Just awful. And I'm so emotional. And feeling huge. 9 more weeks!

Questions? Doctors/midwives seem to be able to tell pretty easily by feel whether baby's head is down. Have any of you had any luck or know any tips on how to feel for yourself? I'm wondering if my LO has turned back to head up.

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?
We thought our second would be our last one, but our family just didn't feel complete yet. We THINK this is it! DH is trying to talk me into letting him get a vasectomy. I'd like to wait a full year after baby is born before he does that.

What's new with baby? he could grasp my finger if he were born now

    Appointments? Jan 12

Any new preparations for baby? I washed the clothes he got for Christmas. That's about it. Haha.

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: SPD, exhaustion, craving pop

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? Oh man. The million dollar question. I can't decide. Part of me can't imagine being done, the other part of me thinks I'm insane to put my body through this again - not to mention taking care of/paying for 4 kids!! We won't be doing anything permanent after this baby and will just wait and see, I guess!

What's new with baby? He's getting so low - the waddle is real.

    Appointments? Next Tuesday

Any new preparations for baby? Actually started an amazon registry - baby bath, crib mattress, receiving blankets, video monitor.  Bought a ton of receiving blankets since I gave all of ours away when DS2 was our last baby.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Now craving high fat/sugary foods.  Baby is packing on the fat and I can tell.

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?  Hahaha DS2 was our last pregnancy.  We're done after this.  I hate being pregnant - and even more hate the TTC part.  Miracle surprise baby blew all of that away.

What's new with baby? He's dreaming, breathing and coughing!

    Appointments? Not this week

Any new preparations for baby? We are working on the nursery. Hung the first thing on the wall and will start working on the DIY letters tonight (DH will spray paint and I will decoupage). Would like to finalize the prints we want to buy to hang so I can start keeping an eye out for cute frames so we can finish things up and start filling it in with actual useful stuff lol.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: The hip issue while sleeping is getting worse. Bought some Unisom today so hoping that helps me sleep a little better.

Questions? I seriously feel like how a dog with hip dysplasia must feel. I sleep with a pillow between my legs and it helped for a while, but it seems like the more active I am during the day (and by active, I mean just trying to get 10K steps in, nothing strenuous), the more I pay for it at night. Besides reverting to my former laziness, any tips? I am thinking maybe taking Tylenol before bed along with the Unisom?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?: God willing, we'd like to start trying for our second fairly soon after this one. DH wants to as soon as we are cleared, I would like to wait at least 9 months. We hope to have either two or three kids total and would like them all close in age.

  • @flowerpower5838 You can try Tylenol.  Do you have a tub you can just relax in?  That always helps my sore hips.  An exercise ball might help if you bounce on it and roll around on it.  Chiropractor adjustment can help too.

    Team Blue/Pink/Green: It's a girl

What's new with baby? She is appearently turning into a ninja at night.  I can't believe how strong she is getting.

Appointments?  Monday the 11th, I failed my 1 hr glucose test so I have to do that too sometime in the next couple of weeks

Any new preparations for baby?  Still working on airing out baby's nursery

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I haven't been hungry lately and they told me my iron levels are low, so I'm not sure what to do, I also completely stopped gaining weight, that can't be good.

    Questions?  Nada

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?  We will have at least one more since this is our first.

  • @bntfroggie get an iron supplement.  I was always told Blood Builder.  I believe you take it with orange juice if I remember right.  And don't worry too much about not gaining weight - some weeks there is a tendency to plateau and some weeks you gain.

    What's new with baby?

Appointments? Went in today. Found out they want to do a growth scan at 36 weeks to see his position and get a weight estimate. Doctor said if I'm dilating and pending the results of the scan, they want to consider inducing at 37-39 weeks to prevent a big baby since DS1 was 9.7. She said they definitely don't want a 10 pounder. They want to keep him between 8 and 9 pounds.

Any new preparations for baby? Started getting out DS1's baby stuff yesterday and am washing and putting stuff away as well as setting things up.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: my nesting this time around has hit hard and it's not cleaning like I experienced with DS1. I NEED to cook haha. Guess we all benefit though because it's healthy home cooked meals and I'll have the stamina to meal prep.

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? DH and I both come from larger families so that's what we want. We will probably have 4 or 5.

What's new with baby? He's definitely running out of room! Likes to freak mommy out by hardly moving one day and then stretching out and kicking the crap out of me the next.

    Appointments: Thursday at 4:30

Any new preparations for baby? Not really, we don't have a nursery to decorate and we're waiting till after my shower on the 16th to make sure we have everything. I did wash the small handful of clothes I've bought so far just so I feel like I'm doing something to prepare...

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: heartburn!! Also sleeping is a little more difficult, went to my chiropractor today to see if an adjustment will help the hip and back pain I get at night, we'll see!

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? Definitely try for more. This is our first and we've at least agreed on two kids, I kinda might want three, but we'll see.
    DS1 born 2/28/16
    DS2 due 12/12/18

  • Weeks/Size: 28 weeks (Thursday), size of an eggplant
    Team Blue/Pink/Green: Team blue!
What's new with baby? He's super active all the time now, I can even feel him when I'm up and walking around talking to people. I forgot how weird that is...
Appointments? I see my OB on Tuesday for my 28 week appointment, after that it's every 2 weeks! On Tuesday I also have a growth scan u/s to see how he's doing in there. I'm hoping to see that he's head down (engaged) and on track. I am also going to try to squeeze in my 1 hour glucose test that day.
Any new preparations for baby? We paint the nursery on the 16th, go furniture shopping on the 23rd (and put it all together that day/weekend), and then after that I'm attacking the bins of clothes and diapers to wash and organize them. I can't wait!
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I feel like my little man is constantly pressing on my bladder now. If I'm sitting down I'm usually OK, but the moment I'm vertical I have to pee. Like, I'll pee and then 2 minutes later have to go again. Last night he was poking me in that really ticklish spot right at your side/waist...so funny. I kept jumping and my husband was SO confused about what was wrong. I was like "I'm being tickled from the inside!" Still craving eggs and milk, but I'm also starting to really get my normal love of healthy food back. I actually made a green smoothie for breakfast yesterday and loved it. I'm eating tons more veggies and fruit, and I'm super happy about it. It's a good thing.
    Questions?
GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? This is it for us. My husband is scheduling a vasectomy pretty shortly after the baby is born. I don't think my body could take another pregnancy (I'll be 38 in June) and 2 is what I've always wanted.

  • This is the year when we'll have our babies!!

    Weeks/Size: 30 weeks tomorrow

    Team Blue/Pink/Green: Pink

What's new with baby? Baby's brain is getting wrinkling.

    Appointments? Friday

Any new preparations for baby? Just packing to move hoping that once we do and I get her crib set up I will be able to go and get everything else we need.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: nothing really except I still per when I cough I want this cough to go away.

Questions? Anyone want to pack for me? J/K

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? This is our last we really thought our 5 year old was our last then in 2014 we had a blighted ovum and we figured since it didn't work out we were done. I was actually scheduling my husband's vasectomy when we found out we were pregnant but after this one we are done. Being 35 almost 36 my body can't take another pregnancy.
  • @KMKaiser07 How do you feel about being potentially induced that early? Did you have complications with your 9.7 baby? If not, there should be no concern for a 10-pounder. We're expecting one. I just hated being induced last time. I'm trying to avoid it if at all possible.
  • Weeks/Size: 30w1d

What's new with baby? She's very active and definitely getting stronger! Size of a platypus!

    Appointments? Jan 11th

Any new preparations for baby? Got dresser I was refinishing done! I also have a work shower coming up on the 15th and then a family one on the 30th! Will be buying the rest of what we need after those and we receive our completion discounts. Woo hoo!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Omg...this is a massive tmi over share...but...I had the worst hemorrhoid ever and went in today to find out it had a clot and some dying skin. So yeah...I had to get it cut open so they could remove the clot. Awake. They normally put people under for that. It hurts like crazy right now, and I can't take anything stronger than Tylenol :( I'm not a happy camper.

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? This may be our one and only. We're waiting to make that decision after she gets here and also if I'm actually able to get pregnant again. I've lost one ovary already because of endometriosis, so there's no guarantee the one that's left will still be in good working order by time we'd want to try again.

Agree! Pitocin was nearly the death of me, I can push 10lbs again, the mention of pitocin may make me cry though. Dr knows birth plan=no pitocin. End of plan. She's willing to let me wait til 41w, that will be it (like last time). Dr did say if I want "scheduled" we can pick a date anytime now though. Like, what!? I'll take a Monday afternoon if i could be so naturally lucky. Ha!

    Appointments? Doctor- Nothing this week!

Any new preparations for baby? Baby shower #1 is on Sunday!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Bathroom trips and early morning (4:00am until up for the day) hip aches! Ugh! I even take Tylenol before bed and once through the night! Oh well.

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?

This will hopefully NOT be our last pregnancy. It took us a while to conceive, so we won't be waiting too long to start trying for #2!

You are too sweet! The cellulite on my thighs tells a different story! For real though, it's just Scandinavian genes. I'll go to bed at 56 looking 30, and wake up the next morning looking 85.

@jilloboe I actually don't have any complaints about being induced. My induction with #1 went just fine and I got the epidural so quick that I didn't spend much time in pain and it was a quick labor for being a FTM. It will all depend on the growth scan and dilation so chances are we won't be induced (if we are) until closer to due. I was surprised she even mentioned it this time due to baby's size but she said they don't like to let babies go that big at their practice.

    What's new with baby?

Honestly I haven't read much on updates, but pretty sure his brain is getting more wrinkly?

    Appointments?

Today. Gained 6 pounds over holidays. (Since last appointment 2 weeks ago) sorry, not sorry.

    Any new preparations for baby?

Bought crib, got wrong mattress.... gotta take it back before we set it up. Damm you Ikea for having three different mattresses under the same name.

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings:

heartburn! Specifically at night, when trying to sleep.

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?

Fiance comes from a big family, 10 siblings! He wants more... but he doesn't have to carry them so he's gonna have to settle for just the 2. Annnnd maybe another one down the road. We'll see.

What's new with baby? Big as an eggplant, more movements throughout the day and loves to bounce around whenever I try to relax or sleep

    Appointments? Not until 15th

    Any new preparations for baby?none

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: BH, heartburn, SPD/PGP all so lovely! Sleep is almost non-existent which doesn't go well with DS still having vacation time from daycare...feel like the most boring mom ever!!

    Questions? None

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?
This is our second and I would like one or two more, but DH is leaning at only one more... However, if you ask me straight after birth you might get a different answer ;)
  • Weeks/Size: 32 (tomorrow) and the size of a squash!

    Team Blue/Pink/Green:  Blue

What's new with baby? Giving mama panic attacks when he has a slow moving day!  I spoke with the nurse yesterday and she said to not be afraid to call and go in to Maternity for a check.

Appointments? Injection appointment yesterday, next appointment is next Wednesday, and I WILL be seeing the doctor.

Any new preparations for baby?  Nope.  Crib and dresser should be here this weekend.  Still waiting on the crib mattress...I may get my diaper bag this weekend. I may go see what is on clearance at Kmart and possibly pick up another set of pajamas for my hospital bag.  I'm going to be ordering DD an "awesome sister" t shirt, and I will be wrapping that up with a card and giving it to her at the baby shower (not this coming weekend but next weekend!) from her baby brother :)

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings:  EVERYTHING!!! Heartburn! My hips/pelvis feel like they are going to fall out of my butt! I am definitely more than waddling now. I'm getting tiny cramps all over my legs, especially at night.  I took a nice bath last night and got one in the arch of my foot- and I wasn't even doing anything!  My right wrist hurts- feels like carpal tunnel is returning....just from me having to hoist my fat ass out of the tub, chairs, bed, etc.  I gave up on bending over for the same reason- I have to use my arm strength to help get myself back up, but my wrist hurts too much to keep doing it.  I'm in the Fuck it Mode (hence my siggy) and leave shit on the floor now.  Unless its food- then the dog manages to inhale it lol.  I know I never had the opportunity to be "over" being pregnant with DD. This one?  I'm ready.  And I feel guilty for saying that. I have enjoyed the entire pregnancy up until these last 3-4 weeks.  I'm ready to not feel like an old arthritic lady and have my body back!

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?  We aren't sure.  We are a take-it-as-we-go kinda couple lol.  If we were forced into a C-section due to the previa we definitely would've been DONE done because I'm that scared of surgery.  I would've had my tubes tied while the doctor was already in there to spare me more surgery.  But since that doesn't have to happen now, it will be a play-by-ear kinda situation.  It took us 4 years to get pregnant this time, so who knows if/how long it would take us to have another.

Any new preparations for baby? Ummm...no. Barely returned my damaged crib picking out a new one.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: heartburn, heartburn, and more heartburn!!

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?

This is our first, ideally want one more but we'll see. I get sad thinking how baby may be an only child but then I get sad knowing I'm putting my career on hold for even longer if we have another. I don't want to be the resentful stay at home mom.

What's new with baby? His lungs are maturing and he's blinking! He also thinks it's great fun to wake me up with lots of kicks and jabs between 4AM - 5AM almost every morning.

Appointments? Today - had my 3 hour glucose tolerance test (glad that is over, hopefully I passed) and have a check up this afternoon and getting my TDAP shot today. Sooo many needles!

Any new preparations for baby? Just received the bookshelf for the nursery, waiting for the dresser to be delivered! Starting to wash the clothes and blankets we've received so far!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Sweets like crazy but trying to cut back. Lower back pains quite often and calf pains but stretching and prenatal massages seem to help with those.

Questions? No questions but would like opinions on how you decided what was best for handling labor. I know I want to deliver med-free, as long as it remains safe for LO and myself but trying to get some input on what works best for getting through the labor with no meds. I have the tour with my hospital the first weekend of of Feb. and plan on seeing if they have birthing tubs that I can labor in but any input is appreciated!

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? We'll see how this one goes, DH is 35 and would like to stop having kids by the time he is 40, so we'll see. He grew up as an only child (he was an accident and his siblings were out of the house by the time he was 4-5 yrs old) and I had siblings and loved it. I wouldn't mind having one more but I think 2 will be it if we do decide to have more.

@mistygenovese my best tip is to keep moving and really listen to your body.  Use the birthing ball (if your hospital has them).  Use the tub to labor in.  My favorite laboring position was actually on the toilet.  It's going to feel like you're losing control once you hit that transition mark during every contraction.  Try to control yourself through contractions - my nurse told me keeping low long vocals through the pain rather than screaming out gives you more control.  Focus on doing that.  Trust your body.  Know that you can do this and you are so very capable of it.  Having my husband put pressure on my lower back during contractions really helped.

Also if your body tells you it can't go any more, there is nothing wrong with taking the epidural.  You will give birth one way or another and with or without meds you are a rock star!

What's new with baby? All 5 senses are go

    Appointments? Tomorrow

Any new preparations for baby? I'm terrible, I never answer anything but no to this question

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: A cinnabon sounds like the best thing in the world right now thanks to the random thread. Had the one two punch of indigestion and sciatic pain last night, so I'm extra tired today.

    Questions? Drawing a blank

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? We always wanted 2, close in age. But well yeah, that's not happening now. Feeling thankful to have this one though every day.
  • This is the year when we'll have our babies!!

    Weeks/Size: 32 squash

What's new with baby? Seems to be head down mostly. Lots of big kicks to the ribs.

Appointments? Tomorrow. I think it may have blood work or bacteria culture or something, but I can't remember now.

Any new preparations for baby? Pediatrician is all set, I have the paper work for my breast pump I just need a script and to find a supplier, and we ordered the replacement buckles for the car seat. This weekend will be nursery set up and hospital bag supply shopping.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: craving a lot of citrus. I wonder if it has to do with my iron deficiency. I also have a cough and sinus pressure. BP has crept up but is still holding fairly steady so I am curious to see whether the doctor says anything about it tomorrow or not.

    Questions?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?

We definitely want more, but we are trying to take it one pregnancy at a time. When dh and I met, I said I wanted 5, he said 3 so we compromised on 4. That being said if i have complications again this time, then I am thinking 3 will probably be my limit for pregnancy and maybe we will adopt to complete our family if we still feel the need to.

What's new with baby? Baby has all 5 senses

    Appointments? Not till the 18th

Any new preparations for baby? I washed all the clothes and bedding and bought a high chair. We finished our childbirth series and a breastfeeding class.

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Tired and sore

Questions? I have been having cramping if I am on my feet for too long. Could this be Braxton hicks?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?
This is our first and we would like 3 or 4.

I second all of this. We went on our hospital tour a few weeks ago and the nurse also told us the toilet is a favorite because it allows you to sit without pressure on your lower areas. I will also have a shower that has jets I can have right on my back, so looking forward to using that! Lol. I do want to add, kind of along the lines of not screaming, but I've read to not tense up or hold your breath. As much as it's likely going to hurt (FTM here, so going off what I've read) try to relax and breathe through the contractions rather than tensing.

I also plan to go unmedicated, but if I end up needing something I still want to avoid the epidural. I know other pain meds probably won't make me feel numb like the epi, but even if it just takes the edge off it might be enough to help in my opinion.

What's new with baby?: Lots of kicks to the ribs. And lots of rolling and pushing especially when mom or dad talk or laugh. :)

Appointments?: In a week and a half, down to every two weeks now. SO was sure to tell me that means we only have 5 doc appts left. I told him to cut it out. We cant rush things.

Any new preparations for baby? Still looking for a house. Getting very frustrating. And exhausted.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: See still looking for houses. All I can think about is chocolate or sweet things. Also having lots of headaches. Doc gave me Fiorocet, cannot decide if its helps or not.

Questions? Anyone have experience with headaches in the third tri? Experience with Fiorocet?

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?
This was not a planned pregnancy. We will see. I would like to have another. I'm not sure if I like this whole pregnancy thing. LOL!!
  • @bdanks you will have more than 5.  Around 36 weeks you will start going every week because they love you that much :)

  • @skruhmin and @CecilB93 thank you so much for the great advice. I'm a FTM so learning as I go,I hadn't heard about sitting on the toilet for labor but good to know it helps. I don't know what I'd do without all you ladies to go to for advice

What's new with baby? Maybe is head down? Tuesday baby earned the nickname Ninja from DH and I since LO was moving ALL day and night long. So I am hoping that LO made the flip to head down then.

Appointments? Ultrasound and Doctor's appointment next Friday the 15th

Any new preparations for baby? I got the swing/bouncer combo set up and figured out the layout of the guestroom to accommodate the playpen. I feel slightly bad that the playpen is in the closet but there are no doors and it is a walk-in... hopefully this doesn't make me sound like a bad mom

I almost forgot! DH and I have a birthing class this Saturday from 8-5. I think DH will get more out of this then I will since I have been reading up on everything. DH disliked the dad books he tried so hopefully he will get more out of a class then me trying to summarize some of the stuff I share with him.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Heartburn has decided to start this week, not fun. I am also starting to feel some occasional discomfort from baby when walking up stairs, almost like LO is rubbing my lady bits...

    Questions? Nope

GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more? This is our first LO and hopefully not the last. DH has always said that he would love 3 boys (he'd be fine with girls too) and I am leaning on just having 2 kiddos. So we've agreed to have 2, then keep the conversation open for a third.

What's new with baby? Getting bigger!  I can't see my feet anymore.  I probably couldn't see them for a while, but didn't notice until now...  second kid problems.
Appointments? Next week.  Then every two weeks!  Woohoo!  I would really like another ultrasound to check everything out and the doctor said they will try to schedule one... a growth ultrasound?
Any new preparations for baby? I bought a box of diapers and wipes at Costco!  That counts, right?  I made a list of things I need to buy for the hospital bag... but I'm realizing that I need some more help because first kiddo was in the nicu for two weeks... not sure what to pack for my kiddo to be rooming in (as I would like.)
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I might be craving dark chocolate.
Questions?  When do you start cutting tags and doing laundry?  Lots of questions starting to flow in my mind... I've been asking coworkers about the hospital bill/our insurance coverage and that seems fine.
GTKY: Will this be your *last* pregnancy (planned), or do you think you'll try for more?  YES.  Last pregnancy, not trying for more.
  • @bdanks No experience with that medication, but I definitely have had headaches off and on for close to 2 weeks now. I was the same with Ds. I just struggle through them.
Sometimes Tylenol takes the edge off but more often than not the only thing that helps me is sleep. You may want to keep an eye on your Bp. Severe headaches and high Bp can be signs of pre e too.

I think this ALL THE TIME! Being a FTM, I am not as nervous as I thought I might be. It helps I have 3 older sisters that have 2+ kids each. I have learned a lot from them, but I know having my own will be TOTALLY different!
