1)if you are not sure it's safe then why did you use it? 2) I'm terrible at discerning these sounds so I'd differ to someone else on the board. 3) research is your friend I'd suggest doing it before your buy and use something next time.
If you aren't sure if a Doppler is safe to use maybe you shouldn't use it. I'm no doctor, just as most women here are not. Maybe ask your doctor to help you find the heartbeat on your own if you're not sure of your abilities to detect a HB.
Fetal dopplers are safe, my understanding is that it can be "annoying" to the fetus (for lack of a better word, I don't know if fetuses experience annoyance but they tend to move away from the doppler which is one reason it can be hard to keep the heartbeat consistently). For this reason I don't usually listen to the heart beat for long or very often (I have access to a doppler at work so occasionally I listen when I have a free moment, which is rare).
The faster heartbeats you're getting, around 150-160, are likely the baby's heartbeat. When it goes down to 60-90 it's likely picking up your heartbeat (an adult's heartbeat is usually between 60-100 bpm, while a fetus is around 130-170, I believe). When I'm checking my own at work, I usually put one finger on my own pulse so that it's easy to tell whether I'm picking up my heart rate or the baby's.
The beginning of the clip (I didn't watch/listen to the whole thing), sounds exactly like mine baby's did, both when I found it with the doppler and when my OB found it today. The slower heartbeat sounds you will hear, is your own heartbeat, the placenta, and the large vein that is usually found on the left of your uterus (per my OB).
QFP No one is being a jerk but if you are unsure if something is safe for your child why would you use it? Wouldn't it make sense to ask or research first before using it? And how awful would it be if we said yes that's a heart beat and it wasn't? And suggesting you ask other especially your dr so you know exactly what to listen for is actually decent advice.
^ what she said. If you're bothered by our responses, maybe stick with the June BMB where you tend to post instead of making this your first post in our board.
ETA by "she" I mean @Lindsayleigh1989. Goodness I cannot post fast enough today!
@ButterMyBiscuit Bahahahahaha I'm dying over here reading the June thread. She's reporting us? Have at it chick. There was nothing said that warrants reporting.
And her post about how those videos are hers and how dare anyone use the *gasp* internet that she uploaded them to and repost.. I'm crying from laughing.
Dude I didn't know we had walls until this very moment. Or that we could post to other people's walls. I owe OP a debt of gratitude for that revelation.
And I'm annoyed I took the time to write out a response. I need to get a better read on people, some of you have such good instincts when it comes to the people who are going to throw a fit.
@Lindsayleigh1989 I might need you to! I feel so left out! If I don't get called out do I get kicked out of the mean girls club!?! SWEATPANTS ARE THE ONLY THING THAT FIT RIGHT NOW!!
