Re: BFM 1/4/16

  • Today, millions of teachers return to work.  And we don't want to! I wanted to stay in my bed, hiding under my covers, ignoring my alarm! But alas....here I sit, for a day filled with meetings.

Also, if another coworker touches my belly....there is a VERY good chance I will slap them.

  • I'm so hungry!! All of the time!! Make it stooooop. I know it could be worse, but it's hard to work a 12 hour shift when all a girl wants to do is grub.
  • Sorry @briterfly84, I am so happy that schools are back in session because now we will be at a normal range of surgeries at the hospital. We are always slammed with elective surgeries during the summer and holiday break! Instead of 45ish surgeries a day we usually have an additional 20!!
  • SILs kitchen remodel is taking longer than expected (surprise). DH was gone the last five days working on it and is leaving again tomorrow to continue the work. He's not making that much money on it because it's family. Because they live 2 hrs away he stays over night with them, which leaves me with taking care of two dogs, a toddler and all the house stuff while he is gone. At least we aren't supposed to get much if any snow this week.

We were supposed to get a remodeled bathroom at work after the holidays. Instead we have a tore apart bathroom for the next week.

  • I have a grocery list of items here that goes on my BFM.

    1) The Packers. WTF Good thing we "slid" into the wild card spot, but I think they'll mess it up anyway the way they've been playing.

    2) I had a scare over the weekend with baby. I started spotting and cramping. Spent the whole day in L&D. Thank goodness everything checked out and my little guy is okay.

    3) I had a toothache since Thursday, after all the offices have closed. It's been a horrible weekend. I was finally seen this morning and now I'm waiting around the office to be referred out because of my being pregnant and my current dentist won't touch me. They're sending me off to a specialist AND they said I can't take anything more for the pain so I'm not masking anything. FU, I can't function like this. I slathered the area with maximum strength ora-gel. I'm not waiting all day in pain to determine whether or not they have an appointment for me. It hurts like a MOFO.

    4) MH came to bed at 5 a.m. and we have a 2 year old he takes care of. He works 3rd shift on the weekends so his sleeping schedule gets messed up over the weekend so he slept all day Sunday and was up all night last night. I feel so bad for our kid.

  • @rebelone....YES about the Packers! They would probably be playing the same if they would let the second stringers play and allow our first string to heal a little.  It's been a rough second half of the season...DH and I are about ready for them to just be done!

  • I had to wear real pants today. No leggings at the office :(

Also, my male co-worker thinks it is just HILARIOUS to point out how big I have gotten. And how I "waddle". I finally told him his constant comments about my body aren't welcomed and I have had enough from him. We have a good relationship and he actually responded well, but seriously- why?!
  • My BFM goes to me. WTF, wake up and FOCUS! I've been at work for two hours and haven't done jack shit!

  • Oh man...its been an awesome weekend/morning.

On plus side guy we subcontracted with is ready to do our flooring replacement in bathroom . On negative side our 100 year old house is a hot mess. DH and FIL tried to remove sink and discovered water leak and unable to remove sink, so I suggested that we call plumber. Thankfully plumber was able to come right away but scope of job and state of pluming are ridiculous so now on top of $3k we just paid for floors I get to shell out another $1k in plumbing. Sigh

Also another BF-I am sick with cold for second time in 2 weeks! You're only supposed to catch this stuff once a cycle. Poor DD is sick too so she woke up twice last night so I got up to deal with that. Oh and back to work again. Mondays are the best
  • @rebelone your packers better get it together to beat the redskins! I will be so annoyed if the skins keep winning... Living in DC being a Gaints fan is rough.

My BFM as usual goes out to work and is long!

Round 1: I was supposed to get access to our building's parking garage starting today. There is a wait list for spots but if you are pregnant you can get one with a dr note. I know I don't NEED it, but this will save me over $200 in parking costs a month so I'm taking it! Well of course I show up today, pull into the garage entrance and what do you know? My badge won't open the gate despite confirming multiple times I was good to go before I went on vacation. So I had to u-turn out of there and find $15 public parking across the street. Then when I e mailed about it they say I wasn't set up bc they needed more information from me about my car which is beyond annoying bc I specifically asked if they needed my car info and I was told NO and that I was good to go. UGH!

Round 2: Our company Executive Vice President comes over to my desk just now out of nowhere to discuss a huge mailing we just sent out to all of our members. No where in the conversation does he say good job, or anything related to that. Just that he wonders how useful these mailings are since they are expensive and people probably just throw them out. GREAT... Don't worry that I spent the past 6 months developing and coordinating this mailing (among my many other projects) and they are always recognized on a national level by our partner organizations and are funded by grants so don't even come out of the company budget. Ugh. It was a slap in the face to be so happy to see a project I've worked hard on come to fruition and completion only to be told by the most important person in the company that it was probably a waste of time. Not even a "it looks nice"... Seriously?! I'm not the only person who decided we should do this btw we have a whole committee dictating what we should and shouldn't do!

Is it time to go home yet??

  • BFM this morning dedicated to DH. He asked me yesterday why I've been so short fused. Um, maybe because you are NOT HELPING ME set limits and rules for DD? I flipped out at him because he came in from outside, DD was asking for another graham pretzel (while I was making us breakfast...) and I had already told her multiple times NO because I was making breakfast and told her she could have ONE...he immediately proceeded to give her one. REALLY?!? I have been watching kids for the past...18 years? I know they need boundaries and rules set and I just feel like he isn't backing me up on it. I have been saying for weeks, now that she is two, that we need to start making her responsible for cleaning up whatever toy she is playing with before getting out another, so there is not a hurricane of every toy out that I, by myself, end up cleaning up during naptime or after she's down at night. Instead, he keeps letting her get whatever toy fits her fancy at the moment before cleaning something else up even though I am repeatedly telling him we need to be teaching her to clean up! I know she likes to clean up, and every time I ask her to put something away before getting something else out she does it happily...but when DH is around, it becomes a toddler tornado because he lets her. So then when I try and correct it, she gets upset and I seem like the bad guy while he looks like Fun Daddy...ugh! Just help me out on this DH! Seriously, or your wife will be even more and more short fused...

  • @imrachellea ugh that is so annoying! I'm worried that's going to be me and my husband as well. He's such a pushover... I'm definitely going to be the bad guy while he plays the role of fun daddy... Argh!

  • I'm with @briterfly84...feeling like a whiny 3 year old because I don't WANNA work!  It doesn't help knowing I have to work this Saturday and next Saturday both to meet a deadline that is tight because of the holidays and vacation schedules. I'm cranky as f*** today.
    image
  • @spatter1 I am really hoping that it we can just sit down and write out a list of what rules and expectations we can realistically expect a two year old to follow through on, he will change his ways! But it is seriously making me crazy that I am coming off as the mean parent! Another example...two days in a row he was up before her and he let me sleep in...both times by the time I got up her diaper had not yet been changed. On the first day he said she would NOT let him change it (probably throwing some kind of fit) so he was waiting for me to handle it, and the second day he said she woke up so happy he didn't want to risk making her angry by trying to change it and let her play instead. So...you're letting ME be the bad guy changing it...TWO days in a row? I keep telling him that he is going to do things that make her angry (even if they are the right thing) and he is going to have to leave her sometimes when she's crying (like when he has to go to work and she doesn't want him to) and he can't avoid the necessary and obvious moments she'll be upset...she's a TODDLER...its what they do...you cannot be the good guy all the time to make them happy. I think when baby comes it will help him realize some of this too, because he already knows that at least in the early weeks he's going to be taking prime responsibility for DD1 since I will be focused more on DD2 to start.

Maybe they'll let use clove oil, sometimes sold as eugenol. It tastes awful, but it works wonders.

The cool thing about spring babies are (if it applies to you) it's Tax refund season! This will be the first year in about 5 that I shouldn't owe so I am expecting a refund which will hopefully cover the costs of my deductible and pay for baby.

Gahhhh you reminded me that I have to get my brakes replaced SOON. A few months ago, a mechanic said my breaks are getting thin and will soon need them replaced. We don't drive our car around a heck of a lot because we're homebodies, so to date I've had no brake lights come on, no scraping noises, etc., but I'm sure that will start soon. I'm hoping I can hold out until I get my tax refund.

My beautiful, charming, lovely 90 year old house was on my s*it list this holiday season. Why does the pipe in the basement decide to spring a HUGE hole in it while there are 30 people at my house on Christmas day? Seriously, I love my house, but sewage and TP floating around our basement while we were entertaining was NOT on my list of things I wanted to deal with. $2800 later, we have a new pipe. But seriously, old houses and their old plumbing really suck.
  • @imrachellea Omg so frustrating! Those are exactly the kind of things I can see my husband doing. He already does it with the dog!! I just know it's going to be even worse with the baby. I keep telling him we have to be a team and support each other... hopefully that will sink in!

My taxes are also going towards breaks and a decent new/nice used washing machine. Ours still works, but it sounds like a thrash metal band drummer when it goes into spin cycle. No way a baby's going to like that.

  • Monday after a four day weekend is the worst. My coworker (who has been acting a lot like my jerk male coworkers) continues to amaze me with her stupidity. In the past two weeks she has mistakenly ordered something that was $1300, stored reagents incorrectly, and done simple experiments completely wrong because no one was around to hold her hand through them. I can't wait for the next big employee turnover.

  • Vomiting and diarrhea weren't fun enough over the weekend... This morning I seem to have caught ds2's cold. If this moves into my ears like it did his, I will lose my shit. Ear infections are seriously the absolute worst pain ever, followed closely by toothaches.
  • I'm going to jump on the "I don't wanna go to work today" band wagon!

Also wtf fiancé? How dare you give me shit for not doing the dishes the past two days, when you were home playing video games all day Friday, and all day before your mom got here yesterday, while I was at a staff meeting for the studio. I usually don't care. I usually just take care of it. But I've been so exhausted from being up all night with acid reflux, I've been laying down as much as possible, because I was having to sleep sitting up.

Ha started in on this whole thing about how I don't ask him to do things, I just expect it, and I flipped shit. "You're not a child. The house we live in is NOT just my responsibility. And you've NEVER asked me to do your laundry, wash the dishes, tidy up the house, make your dinner, go grocery shopping once a week, etc. So what makes you think I have to ask you to do something that just needs to be done? Are you not going to change diapers if I don't ask you to do it before I leave? Are you just going to let our son cry if I'm home because I didn't ask you to check on him?"

His response? "You're being ridiculous. Of course I'll take care of our son. The dishes aren't even that bad, you could do them within fifteen minutes."

(That man almost died last night) Granted I already posted about my meltdown on the blood glucose test thread, and his response was to "just get over your fear and move on" You know, cause phobias go away easily if you apply yourself??? I woke up pissed today...
  • @Knottie9983816 omg I'm sure your fiancé is lucky to be alive right now! I would have lost my shit!!! I also do most of the chores around the house which usually I don't mind bc I'm a neat freak and if he does do something I usually just do it over anyway. But at least OFFER to pitch in and don't you dare give me crap if some dishes sit in the sink a little longer than usual. One time I let the laundry pile up and DH asked when I was going to do it... I nearly slapped him but instead said that if there was something in the laundry he wanted to wear he could do it himself! Growing up his parents had such stereotypical gender roles (mom stayed home and did ALL the housework and took care of the kids while dad commuted into the city and worked). So I have worked hard to avoid letting him think that will be our normal, especially considering I work full time too! His dad admittedly has never done a single load of laundry, and told us over Christmas break that despite having raised three babies, he NEVER ONCE changed a poopy diaper. When he said that I looked at DH and said "not how it's going to be in our house!".

This wouldn't fly in my house. Not for a second.
  • He just informed me that he did take out the trash. I just informed him that apparently we have very different ideas of what taking out the trash is.

  • I would like to go at least a week without people being shitty and mean to me. I mean wtf did I do lately to deserve this??? It's been a constant stream of people being shitty for over a month, and I'm at my breaking point :'( For my fiancé to be joining in on the fun is my breaking point. I want to crawl under a rock and just be by myself until March -.-
  • 1. My body is aching. Woke up every hour last night from back pain, hip pain, aching legs and feet. Oh and bloating. Super tired and had to leave work early.

    2. Saw my SIL on Sat and pissed me off a bit. Shes a special ed teacher and decided to drill me on how we were going to raise our boy and of couse gave me her opinions on what she thinks is the best way. And then decides to say i will think twice about having more kids after this one. Ugh!

    3. My DH and i have an on going disagreement about having my mom help after the baby is born. He doesnt think there will be a need to have my mom there for more than a few hours after getting home. I keep saying he needs to remain open to it just in case. I dont want my mom there for a long time but maybe at least the first day and night.

  • @rebelone I was too busy screaming at Denver to even notice the Packers. Yes, Denver did win their game, but barely. Barely. Turnover after turnover... And I was really starting to like Brock. Granted, all of the turnovers weren't his fault, but JEEZ. That game should have been an easy win, not a fight to the finish. I felt bad for C. J. Anderson having to redo his touchdown twice before they FINALLY counted it... He looked about as fed up as I felt.

The snow is still here. I needed it to go away last night. Oregonians can't drive in snow. They can't drive in ANY kind of weather, for that matter.

LO hates BH. He freaks out each time they happen, so I've been sitting at work, freezing and beyond uncomfortable.

Another hospital bill came in the mail. Yay.

  • BFM... Wtf Target- Why would a lamp stand not come with the wire/appliance to attach the lamp shade? Ugh now I need to go back to Target to figure out where those are?! Hmm
  • @Knottie9983816 that way of speaking would occur no more than once in my house.

The Packers have been so awful in the second half of the season that I'm not even surprised at last night's loss. That's just sad.

Big old BFM to myself for deciding that taking 9 credits whilst working full time was a good idea. One of those classes is algebra, which I'm terrible at, and Amazon won't have my books for two of the classes to me until the 11th, despite my paying for next-day delivery. I started one class in December, but the others began yesterday and I already want to tear my hair out.
  • I am so sick and tired of my rib pain. I was at my 25 week check up today with the midwife and not only did I suddenly gain around 10 pounds in 4 weeks, but she told me the earliest appointment with the physician would be on the 20th of January which is a freakin long time to walk around with a lot of pain. Since I don't speak a damn word of Swedish and her Danish is equally bad it was hard to explain to her that I need some kind of advice on how to deal with this pain. It has gotten so bad that I can no longer get out of bed without DHs help. I fear every sneeze now.

Oh and to make things worse, I asked her about the ultrasound I'm supposed to get to check if the placenta is still covering my cervix where she responded that she had no notes of that in her files from the hospital that did the a/s. And I am not even sure if she's going to request a follow up ultrasound as I didn't freakin understand her. Ughhh damn you Sweden!

  • @elasticheart13, have you had your gall bladder checked? A coworker was just telling me yesterday morning about the pain she had when she was pregnant, and it sounds very similar to yours. She ended up having to have her gall bladder removed about 6 weeks after giving birth because it wasn't diagnosed/treated earlier.

Yeah, I mentioned my gall bladder attack and her response "Oh that doesn't sound good. Let us get you an appointment with the doctor". Which is the freakin 20th. The pain is getting increasingly worse by the day and I will call them tomorrow and ask for a sooner appointment, because this is ridiculous.
