I had my 39 week appt today and I am 2 cm dilated so yay for progress!!!! My doc did say that internally I am more dilated than at the opening. I have never heard of there being multiple places to be dilated.
37.6 and 1 cm dialated and 60% effaced! Its crazy that the doctor said he could feel her head. This end of the road waiting game is something else!! Nothing but baby thoughts 24/7 I am just so excited to meet her
Membranes were stripped this AM at 38w1d. Not much happened all day until now (10 hours later). --- Heavy cramping, with inconsistent, painful contractions. Baby is measuring 40 weeks, so Doctor felt it was appropriate. This is baby #2, first time trying this! Hopefully things progress through the night! Merry Christmas baby?!
Baby has been engaged for several weeks and was super super low at last appointment. I was awoken tonight with HORRIBLE sciatica to the point where sitting, laying and standing all hurt equally bad. I had sciatica a couple of weeks back, but it has disappeared for the most part. Is this normal? I know baby didn't drop more because doctor said if she did, she would be Coming out. I'm hoping labor is soon! 38 weeks and 4 days!
@Meg920 I woke up with horrible sciatica last night too!! I'm 38 weeks today so here's hoping - though my little one is still up pretty high.

This baby has definitely dropped. I seriously feel like he's going to fall out lol. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and with my other 2 I've always made it all the way to 40. We shall see if history repeats itself or if this little man has plans of his own
Update: I went to my regular doctor appt on Wednesday morning. I had protein in my urine and a sitting BP of 170(something) over 90(something) Soooo I was sent to the hospital for observation .... Pee,blood, and blood pressure later: Admitted for high blood pressure and low platelets They started trying to thin my cervix Wednesday night at 8:15p 12hrs with a hard cardboard tampon in your cervix only to find out... It didn't work like it was supposed to --still dilated to a one, and cervix is still thick Round two. 12 hours of Contractions, being uncomfortable and only bring dilated to a 2-3 and cervix is still thick but getting soft... Now I'm in labor and delivery on inducing meds hoping for the best....
I can't eat- only ice and popcicles Can't drink - only listed above
So, I know having BH are common and normal, but all day today I have had constant BH. It doesn't matter if I'm sitting or walking or laying down, they don't stop. They aren't getting any more painful or spreading to my back, they just don't go away either. They feel like a constant tightening in my lower abdomen that gives a pin and needles sensation throughout my lower uterus. Anyone else experience this? I was just at my doctor yesterday and was only 1cm 50% effaced at 36.2 weeks along.
GUYS. I'm in the car on the way to the hospital cause I'm 99% sure my water broke! I was laying on the couch, felt this little tiny pop in my belly, got up and realized my undies were soaked. I ran to the bathroom and out came more into the toilet! Also, for those who love TMI, I had the poops I'll keep you guys updated!

These contractions are making me crazy. Today for an hour they were rythmic, painful and wrapped around my back but they stopped after an hour. I am a FTM and I don't know how to read my body signals at all. This has been frustrating. Today there was so much pressure that I could hardly walk and I continued having Braxton Hicks the rest of the day. That hour was different than my typical Braxton hicks and I've had so much pain and pressure today that I can't imagine feeling this for another few weeks. I'm 38 weeks and I'm just feeling completely inept because I can't even tell if my body is about to go into labor or if it's just normal end of pregnancy stuff. I'm just looking for support and encouragement.
@bella2210 I completely understand. I've been the same way for the last 10 days (FTM and 37+3 here) and the thought of three more weeks of this is driving me nuts.
I'm normally very in tune with my body (Baby was a complete surprise, but I told DH that I thought I might be pregnant within a few days-- well before getting a BFP. I also knew she would be a girl.) so it drives me nuts that I keep thinking, "This is it!" only to be surprised when the contractions go away a few hours later.
I've found the last few days that it's best if I just try to ignore it. I've heard, "you'll just know" when it's real, so I try to ignore the pain by napping (if the pain isn't too strong) or reading a book/working on a project. I've stopped timing them as well, because they get stronger and closer together and then get me nowhere, so I'm trying not to obsess over it.
It's frustrating, but you're not alone. Pregnancy is weird, so I've decided that labor is no different... Luckily, we get a fantastic prize at the end of all this!
38 Weeks tomorrow. 2 cm dilated as of last Wednesday and 70% effaced lost mucus plug last night and now what? Hoping baby comes soon because if he's not here by Wednesday they're inducing me! (Diabetic..even though it's well controlled and baby measures normal) Any tips for induction if I do make it that long?!
@bella2210 I feel your pain! I agree with PP that ignoring it seems easiest. I'm having similar symptoms and it never turns into anything, which is good because I'm only 35 weeks + 2. I think all you can do is try to relax, drink water, get your rest, etc. My hospital doesn't want us to come in until the contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting for a minute, for at least an hour at the earliest...so when they're coming on that strong I think you'll know. It is really frustrating though and I think it's pretty normal. I've been reading lots of other posters saying they have similar symptoms. Good luck and hang in there!

Little baby fooled us last night, had contractions starting at 2am, strong, wrapped around my back, 3min apart lasting 1.5min, so we went to L&D, they monitored us and determined I was still 3cm dilated and 50%effaced, which I have been for 3 weeks. So they said I could either stay for a few hours and see if I progressed or go home and wait it out. I went home and now I'm not having any contractions- so I'm glad I didn't stick around. The doc said if I were 40 weeks they would have broken my water and had the baby but I'm 38 w 3 days, so they won't do anything. Very annoying. I'm ready to have this baby!!
