Hi ladies! This will be my second pregnancy. I had my first 10 1/2 years ago. I'm high risk for 3 reasons 1. I'm 35 2. I have chronic blood pressure issues. Sometimes it's normal and other times it's high. 3. I was recently diagnosed with Meniere's disease a week before I found out I was pregnant. My first official ultrasound is on the 17th. I'll be 10 weeks and 4 days. They've already planned to add a prenatal specialist in the mix at my 13 weeks mark, where I'll start off seeing monthly.
I'm bumping this because I wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing managing their high-risk pregnancies?
Met with my high risk OB and he's taking me in full time and is the sweetest most enthusiastic man ever. He put me completely at ease and left feeling super confident. Everything health wise has been a-okay!
I didn't know this thread existed. Thanks for bringing it back @BostonBaby1! I'm not sure if I'm considered high risk but I did get some unfortunate news that I'm in an abnormally high range for Down syndrome. Has anyone else had questionable NT results?

I'm waiting on my test results. Someone from D15 had a screening that showed a high risk for trisomy 13. She had an amnio and now has a healthy baby. Everything is crossed for you to have good results too!
I don't know how I missed this the first time. Thanks for bringing it back!! I am considered high risk due to a dvt at 17 and my brother and I were bother born with brain malformations. I am on nightly lovenox injections.
I have my first appointment with MFM on Tuesday. I feel like I should have a ton of questions to ask but I have no clue.
Have anyone had a previous delivery while on blood thinners during pregnancy? I have read some Drs choose to induce at 38 weeks? Clearly I will ask my dr and don't care so long as the baby is safe, just wondering what has happened for others.
I've had one appointment at the high risk clinic and am doing my screening there on the 31st. I'm high risk because of my epilepsy and AMA. So far this pregnancy I've just had one nasty migraine and no seizures, hopefully it continues this way.
I had loads of blood work done my first ob appt with high risk ob! Besides cholestasis I'm also considered high risk this time due to short intervals between pregnancies as ds is only 6.5 months old. Woo woo. Besides all the blood work and seeing the high risk group I've had normal care thus far and pregnancy seems to be going fine!
Hope everyone else is doing well and receiving good care!
@mckcak23 Have never delivered but my understanding is that at 38 weeks (unless you are looking favorable earlier,) they switch patients from lovonox to heparin. You can get an epi or surgery on heparin but need 48 hours for the lovonox to exit your system. I'm also on it. My SIL has 2 beautiful girls and was on Lovonox with both.
Well we aren't sure with me yet. My last baby was born 7 weeks early due to a failed placenta so we are waiting the 12 weeks ultrasound and screening to see this baby is at risk or not.
Thanks for bumping. My midwife appointment this week confirmed I'm high risk, not because of my age (40), but because of my blood pressure, and that my first baby was 23 days early, she was small and I had a fast labour..... To combat the blood pressure they told me they plan to start me on daily aspirin at 12 weeks (in the UK). Anyone else had daily aspirin? I've been told I'll have midwife and consultant appointments.
Hi, I'm high risk too. I would be 40 weeks at the end of July, but will be having a c-section in June. I'm only 23 but I have a collagen disorder so that puts me and baby at risk with a weak uterus and weak blood vessels. I'm only seeing my high risk OB and so far I've been seeing him once a month.
I am high risk due to my age (39 y/o), 1 MC of twins @10 weeks Oct 2014, 1 copy of MTHFR, and inherited skin disorder called Ehlers-Danlos (I have type 1). On lovenox, baby aspirin, extra folic acid. Will see a high risk doctor scheduled at 10 weeks and probably every 2-3 weeks during pregnancy. I have an identical twin sister who has had two successful pregnancy with Ehlers-Danlos. She also has Ulcerative Colitis so I am hopefully my pregnancy will be good too. EDD 7/14/16
OMG. I really hope you see this. I mean the chances are pretty small but I also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I have type 4 though unfortunately. I hope we can follow each others progress throughout our pregnancies and I wish you all the luck in the world.
Update: I met with my MFM, he suggested the Panorama and said insurance never deny him. Also, baby looked good, HR is 181 and measures 100% on tract for dates. Even though I had a significantly shorten cervix for #2, since I made it to full term, we will not be doing a prophylactic cerlage. We will check my cervix via U/S at 14 weeks and go from there. If at any time, my cervix starts to change (prior to 24 weeks), we will do it. I am to live my life as if nothing is wrong, work, sex, exercise as normal. I am really comfortable with this plan.
I am also high risk. I have suffered 3 previous miscarriages, no live children. I was diagnosed with an Antiphosolipid syndrome as well as MTFHR . I am currently on the lovenox injections, baby aspirin, along with a few more.
Any suggestions for the lovenox. They are so painful to me, and burn for quite awhile after injecting them ?? I am happy to do them if it gives me a healthy baby BUT ugh I hate them so much !

They do burn, but have you tried different spots for them? I find that certain areas are much better than others. I usually have DH get me in the love handles. Also, I ice ahead of time for five minutes and ice immediately afterwards.
I've never given them to myself but I can tell you as a nurse the more fat you pinch the better and if you squeeze tighter on the skin while you insert the needle it's supposed to help. And yes, serial insertion site changes helps to build less scar tissue. Sorry you ladies have to do injections, I'm just on aspirin for now..
Hello girls! For the levonox, I make sure I keep the skin pinched the whole time of the injection and not only for the needle insertion. Like PP said, ice can help and also injecting really slowly reduce the burning. Good luck
I'm glad you bumped this. Not that I have anything to report. Although I better go see the OB soon so we can get me scheduled for surgery in February. They can get busy fast. It's just been such a crazy month, I decided not to go in as early as I usually do. Since I know that my cervix tends to do its job until the second trimester when it apparently decides the baby is "heavy"
Thanks everyone ! I appreciate all the advice. I will definitely try keeping the skin punched while trying the injection.. I always let it go after the needle is in!
Hi everyone! So happy to see that I'm not alone in the High Risk category.
I just hit 11 weeks today! Yay!! So far I've seen by OB twice and my MFM high risk doctor once. I am scheduled to see my OB again this week. Everything is progressing nicely and fingers crossed that it continues. I've had 2 ultrasounds and have another this week. I love looking at my little peanut and watching the heartbeat flicker away. I think I could stare at it forever!
Hi there. I had a baby 11 weeks ago and have had hearing issues ever since. I've gone to two different doctors, both of which think I may have Meniere's Disease. How are you coping with Meniere's? I'm very stressed out over this diagnosis.

Go find your birth month board they have babies the same age as yours where as we are all pregnant.
Hi all. All sorts of high risk here. 39, twins and had a LEEP procedure 14 years ago so may have a short cervix. I have had my NT screening and all is good but have to go to MFM every 2 weeks from 16-24 to watch my cervix and see if it will hold up. This is in addition to my every 3 week appointments with my OB due to twins. At least this pregnancy will be well watched.
I'm glad I found this post. Definitely makes me feel less secluded. I am high risk for a bunch of reasons including Ehler's Danlos, Von Willebrand's, refractory Epilepsy and 5 losses (included a heterotopic twin pregnancy), to name a few. Still scared to death, but we are going into the 2nd trimester this week, so trying to stay positive and hopeful!
Hello, I am high risk as well. Both previous pregnancies i had pre-eclempsia and low platelet counts (HELLP). This time around we found out we were expecting identical twins and were told that they appear to be sharing one amniotic sac which puts them at extremely high risk.
I'm high risk due to AMA (36) and history of unexplained miscarriages (4 over the last 13 years or so), with naturally low levels of progesterone, I also had a LEEP 11 years ago so that may affect my cervical length. I'm on crinone 2x's a day, metformin, and baby asprin.
We have our NT scan tomorrow at 2pm est (USA) at 11w5d, and feeling very very nervous. I'll update tomorrow with our results!
Im high risk due to pre-e. It was severe with my 1st pregnancy and he was born (induced) at 36 weeks. My 2nd wasnt severe but i was induced at 38 weeks with her. Praying i can get as close as possible to my edd with #3. My first ob appt i was 9+3 and my bp was elevated throughout the whole freaking visit.
Does anyone else have an OB and a high risk Dr. who dont agree? It wasnt over anything big. But they dont agree on my EDD (which I asked why it really matters since it is estimated), then the High risk Dr. wants me to get tested for all of these different conditions and my regular Dr. told me I can have the test but that either way it will not change my treatment since I am already on Blood thinners, and it would be a situation where the results would just be an FYI. I really like them both but it doesnt really give me a vote of confidence that they couldnt seem to agree on anything.
@mckcak23 with my last pregnant my ob and Mfm both differed on Edd, Mfm said I was a week ahead of ob. I was scheduled to be induced at 37 week dt complications and the they went with the Mfms earlier due date.

I'm very lucky that my OB and my MFM work very closely together. I think most things are deferred to my MFM. Go ahead and do the other testing if your MFM is going to get it covered by insurance. Also, if they differ let them fight it out between the two of them.
Love this thread. I am high risk due to incompetent cervix. I also have factor 5 leiden and MTHFR. I only see a mfm during my whole pregnancy. I am on lovenox 40 mg a day plus extra folic acid and will be getting my cerclage in a week in a half.

Trigger warning
Yes. My ob has been telling me one reason why I had a late loss last time but my mfm says it is unlikely that was the reason and thinks it's something that could happen again. However, the mfm does not have a reason at all. It's frustrating and confusing.
