So today I announced on Facebook our twin pregnancy. I'm just over 12 weeks. I laid down to take a nap and woke up a few hours later with bright red blood everywhere and a medium sized clot.
Which of course I assumed the worst because who wouldn't. I had zero cramping though and thought that was weird.
So I call my husband to come home from work and he takes me to the ER where I get my first catheter, a bunch of blood tests, and a very quiet ultrasound.
Cut to like three hours later doc walks in and says both of my babies are absolutely fine. Cue my bursting into tears. Apparently the placenta on one has some bleeding behind it, because it hasn't quite attached 100%, or something, and it caused the bleeding because that area has a lot of blood flow. He didnt really give it a name but made it out to be fairly normal.
I guess it can cause both bleeding and the clot, and it may continue off and on.
Has anyone had this? Also I just really needed to like, word vomit this night because I am so emotionally spent I can't even. But my babies are okayyyyyy. I am so relieved even though its totally scary to bleed and clot.
Re: Well, that was terrifying.
When my midwife told me I had an SCH she said it was caused by the placenta attaching. I haven't had any bleeding, but it can cause that, and there are a few threads about it. Sounds like an SCH (hemorrhage, not hemotoma.)
Hugs, and fx for an incident free pregnancy from here on out.
I was so happy he said the babies were OK that I totally may have stopped processing what he was talking about after that.
Anyway, I don't care what people say about Bump ladies being mean ole meanies. You guys are seriously the best and I'm grateful to have you to set my mind at ease.
I am going back to bed now. I woke up from a dream that someone was trying to kill me and that I was Kristen Stewart. Probably because I was Kristen Stewart.
And wondering - if you dreamed you were Kristen Stewart does that mean you got to do it with Robert Pattinson? That might make being her semi-tolerable for a few minutes (or hours, since, well, Robert Pattinson)...
