@TXmamatobe My H is Chinese and I'm not. Since Asian features are pretty dominant, I get those comments all the time! Every now and then some kind soul will throw me a bone and say she looks like me, though.
I might have spent $100 on maternity clothes today. Oops.
That is soooo easy to do though. Even buying cheap like through Old Navy, maternity clothes add up so fast.
My confession I guess would be: I seriously need some new maternity clothes this pregnancy. I only weight 10lbs more than last time...but that's enough. The money just isn't there right now so at home I pretty much wear my DH's shirts and pjs pants/yoga pants/sweat pants because they stretch.
Edit: Explaining--That is a confession for me because even though I am a SAHM/WAHM, I believe in getting up and getting dressed every day. This pj pants thing is bugging me. It's actually hard for me to get my work and chores done when I'm not fully dressed.

My FFFC is that I hope this baby isn't fair skin with blonde hair and blue eyes. My DH is German and Irish. He was a towhead as a kid. I'm German, Norweigan, and Mexican. My daughter and I are darker complected, brown eyes, etc. I obviously don't mind if my child looks like my hubby. I think he's very attractive. But I'd like her to resemble my daughter and I too. My BFF was over last night and her daughter doesn't look a thing like her. Everyone always thinks she's babysitting. Then I had a dream my baby was born and was fair skinned, blonde with blue eyes. Of course a healthy baby is important and if she looks like my DH i'd be happy, but that's my FFFC.
I can relate as my DD doesn't look anything like me. I've been asked if I'm her nanny, the babysitter, etc. it's like NO, I'm her MOM. My husband had super blonde hair and light eyes when he was little and her baby pictures are identical to his. I'm so happy she looks like him but wish people wouldn't assume weird things. My dark hair and eyes just didn't cross over to her
Here is a recent picture that we used on our Christmas cards. I got so many comments relating to how she looks nothing like me and maybe the next one will blah, blah, blah. I couldn't care less who the new baby looks like as long as he's healthy.
@TXmamatobe@Bluejay3030 I also have very different coloring than DS and DH...thankfully DS makes a lot of facial expressions that are like mine. Growing up, I easily had the darkest complexion of my family members and so far, my family with DH is the same.
My fffc: When I got home, I started playing the NSYNC Christmas album when DH asked me to put on Christmas music. I like the classics too...but this one is a Christmas guilty pleasure. DS liked it, so I got to keep it on; DH looked at me like I was crazy, but didn't argue.
@TXmamatobe I have this theory (totally ungrounded and made-up) that men are evolutionarily programmed to be more interested in sons than daughters, and so it's important that daughters look like their dads to help them make a stronger connection to them. Because if they have a son, they're like "Oh good, we both have penises," but if it's a daughter, they need something more than that.
Again, totally made-up and unsupported theory I came up with a few years ago when a bunch of our friends had daughters that all looked EXACTLY like their dads, and nothing like their moms. It hasn't lasted though - all these kids are a few years old now and look much more like a combo or like their moms, so I would definitely say there's hope for having kids look like you down the line! Not that you're asking for that, you sound totally happy with the current situation minus obnoxious questions.
I just remembered that I bought a bag of swedish fish on Monday. I can't find them.
I misplaced a pair of gray maternity pants and my kitchen curtains (took them down for Christmas decorations) middle of last pregnancy. I didn't find them until my DD was almost 1.

My FFFC is extreme pregnancy brain. I can't seem to find anything! I lose everything here lately! We bought some new much needed fitted bed sheets b/c the dogs had destroyed the others and the ones on our bed have a big hole in them from where one of the dogs thought it would be a good idea to chew a hole in the sheet. We decided not to put them on the night we bought them b/c it was late and we'd have to pre wash them etc. Now I can't remember where I put them and have looked everywhere! They are nowhere to be found!
Last night I was making my supper out of one of those Lipton Fettuccine packets that was flavored parmesan and spinach. It called for half a cup of MILK and a cup and a half of water. Okay..... my DA goes to the refrigerator and pulls out the EGGNOG instead of the milk and pours it into the measuring cup. Luckily I realized something was off before I poured it onto the noodles lol
So I have to watch my blood sugar while I'm pregnant. Hubby knows this but he forgot. He was trying to be sweet and surprise me with dessert at the Mexican restaurant we frequent. He ordered deep fried cheesecake........... Then he got slightly upset when I made a face and picked at it (deep inside I was dying to dig in like Taz from Looney Toons). We were with some friends and I had to whisper to him b/c we don't like to broadcast that little tidbit of information to the world. He had forgotten. I did sneak a few bites in though. Now if I didn't have to watch the sugar stuff then I would have went crazy.

Actually!
I read (an article long ago, not scientific, but a summary of science in Newsweek or someplace) that the reason babies look like their fathers at birth is to help establish paternity. When a couple gives birth to a kid, you can be pretty darn sure who the mother is, but you might not have the best idea of who the father is.
But looking at babies' faces wasn't always the best indicator: In the ancient (Greek and Roman) world, they thought that sight was tactile (your eyes reach out and grab images and bring them back into your body), so if baby looked like the dude next door, clearly wifey was spending too much time "looking" at dude next door. They didn't really (at all) understand genetics (also why adopting a child in the Roman Empire was never seen as "lesser": what made someone your progeny was that you (the father) accepted it as such, and this was true whether the child was a newborn (rejected children would be abandoned) or a fully-grown man).
So! There's one (super persuasive) academic theory by Nancy Jay and others that basically says the whole ancient notion of (animal) sacrifice was to establish full paternity, to connect father and son by blood, as the mother and child had been connected by blood at birth.
The good news is that it's not so much that dads are not biologically/evolutionarily inclined to like daughters, but that they are not inclined to like *any* babies and in every case (not just with girls) need persuading. I know that doesn't sound like good news, but at least on this theory humans aren't inherently gender-biased and men are not automatic misogynists:)
I (somewhat) unintentionally found out what DH is getting me for Christmas... a puppy! I normally love surprises and hate knowing what my gifts are, but in this case, I'm glad that I know ahead of time, because it would have been a total shock (this will be my first pet ever). DH doesn't know that I know, though.
Were you wanting a puppy? It's sweet that he's getting you one (because puppies are the best!), but unless you mentioned wanting one, that's a lot of extra work to dump on you while you're pregnant without asking first. Either way, puppies are awesome, and I would be excited! You'll have to post pics after Christmas!
----QBF---- Well, about a year ago, I really really wanted to get a dog, and he kept dragging his feet about it, so I kind of got over it. Now that I'm pregnant, getting a puppy wasn't even on my radar.. But I'm warming up to the idea and getting excited (again, I'm glad I figured it out ahead of time). It will mostly be an outside dog anyway (it's a lab), so not as much work trying to potty train it or anything like that.

Maybe I just don't understand. But this makes me sad.

Agreed. I never understood the point of getting a pet if you don't plan on really spending any time with it. Dogs need human attention and affection. How much can he expect if he is living his life outside.
