DH asked me to make dream bars for his work party so I did. He asked if he could have one or two last night and I told him no, they were for the party. Little does he know that I hid two for me in the fridge for when he left to go see Star Wars with his BIL last night. Bwaaahahaha.
I went overboard buying Christmas gifts for DD. She's 18 months old and doesn't even understand who Santa is or what gifts are... My rationale is it'll be okay because soon I'll have two kids and they can share the toys in the playroom. The playroom that currently looks like I run a daycare center...
I've gained a lot of weight already!! Ughh so I need to get better on my eating habits, but that didn't stop me from ordering baby back ribs with French fries and mozzarella sticks last night for dinner!!! I loved every second of it. Today is a new day so I will try to eat healthy until Christmas.
Counting today I have 3 days left of work till I'm off until January 4th. I've pretty much already tuned out and lost all motivation for the next few days. All I've really been doing is counting the days till my anatomy scan and planning for our Disney trip tomorrow. I also just found a dinner reservation at Be Our Guest for tomorrow which are impossible to get... It's at 11 at night though. I'm still tempted, but DH will never go for it.
We have the tree up, but no decorations. I have no motivation to get to our storage unit to find the ornaments. My 5 year old hasn't complained, so I don't think we will be decorating...

Lol we have lights on it. That's it. I can't even find the ornaments and have no desire to.
This is on behalf of MH: So last night, I had choir rehearsal for our big Christmas concert this Sunday. I will definitely admit that I dragged my feet and *maybe* went out with some of the girls afterwards and didn't get home until 11pm. However, I had asked MH if he wanted us to get a sitter so he could go see Star Wars, but he did that macho martyr thing and insisted that he wanted to put our son to bed and would see the new Star Wars "some other time...maybe when it comes out on video". Well, come to find out, last night he and our 2 year old son had a movie night of their own...and watched A New Hope! Yup, my toddler stayed up until almost 10:00pm watching the first of the original Star Wars trilogy! When I went to wake him up this morning, he was dead to the world and it took me 45 min to get him going. When he was finally up, he insisted on wearing his R2D2 sweatshirt and refused to wear a jacket because he didn't want to cover it up (of course it is drizzly and raw out there). So I am the "bad" parent who sent my kid to daycare without a jacket. It just wasn't happening. The whole ride to daycare he kept jabbering about how "R2D2 fell down, but he got back up, so he is ok". The Force has definitely Awoken in our little New Hope!
I had to make a taco dip for my holiday potluck at work today. DH had a headache last night so he went to bed right after dinner. I was going to watch a show I had DVR'd and then get up and make the taco dip before going to bed. I ended up falling asleep watching the show and woke up at 11:30 last night to start making the food. Then, I couldn't find the platter I was going to use, so I went in the bedroom and woke DH up to help me look for it and yelled at him for moving it. As it turns out, the platter was in a different cabinet where I had put it when I rearranged a couple of months ago. Oops! DH never got mad and even stayed up to help me finish the dip. I was too cranky to even thank him or apologize for yelling at him. I probably should when I get home from work...
I (somewhat) unintentionally found out what DH is getting me for Christmas... a puppy! I normally love surprises and hate knowing what my gifts are, but in this case, I'm glad that I know ahead of time, because it would have been a total shock (this will be my first pet ever). DH doesn't know that I know, though.

DH bought 3 zucchini 2 weeks before we were planning on using it (this Sunday). Yesterday I went to the grocery store and bought 3 similar looking zucchini and replaced them with the old ones so we wouldn't have to get in an argument this weekend about if the fuzz on the zucchini was mold or not. My H is great at a lot of things, but incompetent when it comes to produce.

Were you wanting a puppy? It's sweet that he's getting you one (because puppies are the best!), but unless you mentioned wanting one, that's a lot of extra work to dump on you while you're pregnant without asking first. Either way, puppies are awesome, and I would be excited! You'll have to post pics after Christmas!
@bshurdy yay puppies!!!! I really reallysuggest putting in the time and money to do multiple dog training classes. Start with puppy obedience and continue on with more obedience or other fun classes. Also make sure to practice at home! It may seem like a lot but will be totally worth it and will make your lives easier with a puppy and a baby. Don't be discouraged by the puppy teenage years where it seems like your dog forgot every good habit it used to know, keep training and when it gets older you will notice that he/she does actually remember and you will have a super awesome dog. It will be tough but if you are prepared you can totally do it

----QBF---- Well, about a year ago, I really really wanted to get a dog, and he kept dragging his feet about it, so I kind of got over it. Now that I'm pregnant, getting a puppy wasn't even on my radar.. But I'm warming up to the idea and getting excited (again, I'm glad I figured it out ahead of time). It will mostly be an outside dog anyway (it's a lab), so not as much work trying to potty train it or anything like that.

I'll try not to be overly annoying here but I don't get the idea of having an outside dog or pet of any kind. It used to be common for dogs to live outside during all seasons but it's really not as common now and is not safe for a dog to be outside in extreme temps. Plus, how often can you really interact with an outside only pet?
Just my thoughts. I know you said mostly outdoors so you might have better plans than I'm giving you credit for. Good luck with the new puppy! They are the sweetest.

I think that depends on where you live. Outdoor mostly dogs are still a really common occurrence around here.

My confession is that I'm engaging in retail therapy right now. I'm buying a new Alex & Ani bracelet even though I don't need it and could probably spend the money on better things. But I'm pretty miserable today and somehow this might help
Last night, I slept through the night for the first time since August. I had a fleeting worry that I was perhaps dehydrated, but I just am going to embrace it. I remember it happening a handful of times last time I was pregnant. I am not exaggerating, the difference between an uninterrupted night sleep v. waking up once to pee is unreal. I am off to change the world. . .

I'm with you. I hate how limited my wardrobe feels these days and I'm reeeeallly tempted to order more maternity clothes from The Gap because I have a coupon, but I really don't need them. I don't have any full panel leggings though....

I just don't understand the point? I consider pets companions, and how can it be a companion when it's outside all the time? Growing up we had outdoor cats and looking back, it was totally pointless. It's no different than just feeding a stray that hangs out at your house all the time.

Woah...QBF
I too am planning on buying ALL THE LEGGINGS, especially after seeing my check was a *little* bigger this week. MH did hint that Santa is already aware of my obsession/need and I will find some in my stocking, but I need more! I am currently in a very contentious relationship with pants of all kinds and would so much rather wear leggings and sweater dresses.

Gap full panel leggings are awesome-- they're so soft!
I've been so sleepy and exhausted and just freaking lazy these past few months that I've let a lot slide, and I had a book manuscript due yesterday and a final exam to write for my students and so I just stayed up all night (til 4.30am, about when I usually wake up) to get it all done. Managed to squeeze in a nap before driving to work, but this past week I've been such a horrible wife and mother--baby needs me to sleep, I know, and DH needs me to not be working all the time.
Hopefully this is the kick in the pants I need to finally stop letting my pregnancy exhaustion get the best of me.If I have the stamina stay up all night and get this shit done, maybe I can convince myself not to take quite so many naps during the day...
I waited until today to go buy the gifts for my husband's family party...and it's tomorrow. I needed 2 gift cards and 2 gifts for kids. I decided I'd get one to a restaurant and one to the movie theater. I completely forgot about the whole Star Wars thing. That theater was packed! And naturally the gift cards are at the concession stand...which had quite a line. Did I mention I had my sleeping 1 year old with me? I've never been looked at like such a weirdo in my life!
My FFFC is that I hope this baby isn't fair skin with blonde hair and blue eyes. My DH is German and Irish. He was a towhead as a kid. I'm German, Norweigan, and Mexican. My daughter and I are darker complected, brown eyes, etc. I obviously don't mind if my child looks like my hubby. I think he's very attractive. But I'd like her to resemble my daughter and I too. My BFF was over last night and her daughter doesn't look a thing like her. Everyone always thinks she's babysitting. Then I had a dream my baby was born and was fair skinned, blonde with blue eyes. Of course a healthy baby is important and if she looks like my DH i'd be happy, but that's my FFFC.

Yes!! I bought some from the gap and some from old navy. The old navy ones aren't soft and feel like they're paper thin. Go with the gap (wearing a pair now) but I find they run long.

I can relate as my DD doesn't look anything like me. I've been asked if I'm her nanny, the babysitter, etc. it's like NO, I'm her MOM. My husband had super blonde hair and light eyes when he was little and her baby pictures are identical to his. I'm so happy she looks like him but wish people wouldn't assume weird things. My dark hair and eyes just didn't cross over to her
Here is a recent picture that we used on our Christmas cards. I got so many comments relating to how she looks nothing like me and maybe the next one will blah, blah, blah. I couldn't care less who the new baby looks like as long as he's healthy.
Whelllllp @TXmamatobe 's holiday card looks like a Gap ad Very nice pic!!
My new confession is that I've been pretending to know what QBF means, so I just now decided to finally visit the acronym page to look it up and it's not there...so I'm still in the dark.
I'm having trouble with the quote function too, but:

I realize you didn't ask for opinions on this, but as somebody who has spent a lot of time working in rescue and dog training: this sets off all kinds of alarm bells in my head.
Puppies are time- and energy-intensive to raise, socialize, and train properly. A Christmas puppy is going to be hitting jumpy, mouthy, boisterous adolescence right arond the time a May baby comes due. A Lab is going to be a fairly large and energetic and (probably) body-slamming breed (they are not known for being delicate or supremely body-aware; they tend to be happy enthusiastic clumsy dogs), and is likely to want to be a working dog, who will need some kind of a job and structured outlet for its energy and will also probably want to spend a lot of time in the company of its people. This is a sociable breed; we're not talking about an independent livestock guardian dog or husky.
It's certainly doable to raise a puppy and have a baby at the same time. It is also a lot of work and not at all something I'd recommend for the average first-time pet owner. IME, this situation very often results in a neglected dog who ends up at a shelter or in rescue within 6 to 18 months. Not saying you'll do that, but I am saying that it's a common pitfall that you should be aware of and prepared for if you're going into this.
Colleen Pelar's book Living With Kids and Dogs is a good and concise resource on managing and integrating a household with dogs and children, and I strongly recommend it as a good idea to read before you bring a new dog home.
