With respect to the "guess the gender" posts, at first it was kinda fun to look through the comments whenever one of those discussions would pop up, but now I'm more like, "this again?" and just opt out, since they always follow the same "lifecycle" before admin closes them. I wonder how it would be if no one responded at all to those...the crickets chirping might send a more definite message that no one really wants to play that particular game. Then again, I doubt there would ever be zero responses.
I think this is a great idea, but I think if absolutely no one responded to the next post (that is already up, btw) we would all still get labeled as "mean and unsupportive".
----qbf---
Yep ^^. Maybe a middle-ground approach of letting the thread die after a couple of people have responded with "nope, too early" or whatever would get the message across without the thread devolving into yet another tiresome argument about who's mean/factual and who's supportive/sainty.
You have no idea the self control it is taking me to not respond to the new "guess the sex thread" with this meme
My UO- When I look at all of my friends relationships I truly believe my relationship with my husband is superior.
I know "you don't know what goes on behind closed doors" but still. I think it can be pretty easy to identify a health relationship vs. an unhealthy one.
@Kballew10 I agree with you on clean cut, clean shaven preppy look! Can't stand facial hair or long hair on men! (Side note, longer hair on little boys I think is adorable but then its time to grow up and clean up!)
I don't think anyone over the age of 30 should be allowed to use the word butthurt. I hate that word.
I'm 33 and never heard this term before TB ! Hahaha guess its because its a younger thing! I'm not sorry about that... sounds like an awful term.
I've never heard the term before either and I'm 34. Thank you @mrsschmity for using it in a sentence to help me understand.
No UO for me. Don't like the man bun but do love well groomed facial hair like the rest of the group.
Glad I could help. I honestly never heard the term until I went to visit DH one time while he was stationed in California. Apparently everyone on base said it, and it kind of just stuck.
Not quoting everyone... but... I did look at the costs of the blood tests vs. NT Scan knowing that I would be paying for either out of pocket. The blood test was going to cost about $200, while the NT Scan was going to cost about $600. I requested to my doctor to do the blood test rather than the NT based on cost (knowing gender would just be a bonus), but because I wasn't high risk, she wouldn't refer me to do the blood test. She said even if she would refer me, she actually would recommend the NT Scan over the blood test. I didn't go into details about why, but just said OK and moved on.
How long until waiting until 20 weeks for the a/s is a thing of the past?

Yes agreed. This is the simple and obvious solution to the problem.
I don't think anyone over the age of 30 should be allowed to use the word butthurt. I hate that word.
Me too, hate it.....along with the word Bae.
I agree with you on Bae. Can't stand it.
Also "fleek". Just....no.
Just to add on to this...when I see the word "Bae" I automatically think of "Bacon And Eggs".
And @crdo you read my mind. When I first heard the term "fleek" I was legitimately confused and had no idea if they were talking about a band or if it was some kind of insult. It just sounds stupid.

Arggh. Fleek.....no words for that. I actually had a girl on a forum who was training to be a doctor and was very proud of her use of the word Bae. If my doctor ever used that word, I would straight up climb out of my hospital bed, crawl home and perform my own csection/appendectomy on my kitchen table.
I use the word butthurt all the time, but I'm not thirty yet so I guess that means I'm still in the clear?
UO: I hate coloring. Big waste of time and I feel like I would be better off poking myself repeatedly with a crayon. And apparently there are now adult coloring books? More power to those who like them, but definitely not what I would call fun!
Ha! @mrsschmity: now, Bae forever means "bacon and eggs" to me as well! Same with fleek--didn't know what on earth it was. Now I know, and I wish I didn't. Worthless use of neurons.
@Atlast111: Ugh....that's really disappointing. I'd probably have the same reaction. "You're fired for sounding like a 14 year old!"
My UO: Some of my English ladies may agree with this. Or maybe it was just something my weirdo family did before we moved to the US and I just THOUGHT it was our Britishness. But one of my favorite foods is pasta with graded cheddar cheese and ketchup. DH works late tonight and that's totally what DS and I are having for dinner.....
Hahaha...this would bring my Italian husband to tears!
@on3in2015 I have absolutely NO interest in Star Wars and I am sick of seeing 1000 SW items in every store I go in to. It doesn't annoy me but would it just go away already!
I also have never read or seen any Harry Potter book or movie. No interest so never will.
Totally agree on the star wars but no Harry Potter?????? Those books were my mental get away from the real world growing up (being super nerdy from a young age made me quite a target for bullies) and I was roughly the age of the characters as each book came out (and then each movie as well) which probably helped my love of them. If this baby doesn't like Harry Potter I'm going to be very upset. I also may or may not be looking at harry potter themed onesies (snuggle this muggle, hogwarts class of 20__)...maybe that's my UO, I am an adult who still loves a children's book series.....
I'm getting the "Snuggle this Muggle" onesie for christmas from SIL and I'm excited! My photographer/bff and I are already planning HP newborn shoots (she did an entire year of HP shoots and right after her DD 1st birthday we had a "viewing party" and had HP snacks etc).
I'm late to the UO game today, but mine is that I hate buying Christmas presents for other adults. Ill buy for my husband, my daughter and my niece. I get my daughter to make all the grandparents a little something. I feel that most adults buy what they want/need throughout the year. It's just frustrating and expensive to try to find them something they won't hate. We also aren't rolling in money, so I can't really afford to go all out (especially considering the size of our families!!). To me, Christmas is about so much more than gifts anyway.

See, this bugs me so much about the current state of prenatal testing. The cell free DNA tests are more accurate than the combined NT scan testing. Their accuracy is on par with CVS and amnio. They are more efficient (one blood draw vs two blood draws and an ultrasound spaced weeks appart) and thus not surprisingly cheaper out of pocket (you don't have to pay for all that extra labor). They are not invasive like CVS and amnio but still give you that same 99% certainty of whether there is an abnormality like the invasive tests. They are also expanding the chromosomal abnormalities they test for. So why the f%&* are insurance companies still only covering them for high risk pregnancies and pushing the NT on everyone else?? Why does your doctor prefer the NT which can only give you a calculation of a 1 in x probability of an abnormality and still requires more follow up testing if x is too low?

Totally agree! To buy for all my SILs and BILs on our budget I'd have like $25 bucks to spend max. So finally I got everyone to agree that it was ridiculous. Now we draw one name and just buy for that person. WAY better.

Totally agree as well. I also hate forced gift giving at work. Like "hey! We're all chipping in and getting so and so a gift, so can everyone give us 20$" or "everyone bring a gift for so and so for Xmas and we'll suprise her." I'm not even getting my brothers gifts but am gifting people I barely know??

Also regarding the genetic testing some doctors offices are advertising it as a way for people to find out the sex of your baby. These companies want their tests to be well known and common practice so they want more people to get them.
I hate work events/happy hours that go past the regular work day. I want to go home. I want to put on sweatpants. I want to hang out with my dogs. I want to talk to my husband. I don't want to spend anymore time than I already do with the people I work with. They are lovely, most of the time, but just no.
I cannot get on board with the 60+ degree weather here in NY. It's December. Christmas is next week. It should be snowing and cold. People should not be wearing tshirts.

My UO is that 90% of the threads on here are a waste of time. I pretty much only look at the big daily ones because everything else just annoys me.
