What do you think of this name?

I go from it being a front-runner one day, to doubting it the next day. I'm afraid it's too nicknamey.. and isn't it a popular dog name?

Our other children are Benjamin and Lena.

I like the name Sadie. I think it is a fine stand alone name. Perhaps you are thinking Sandy as the dog from Annie.

It's nms (long e names feel nicknamey to me), but it goes well with your sibset. Sarah nn Sadie might work for you as well?

Please forget about the dog name association. It's ridiculous. Many people use human 'people' names for their pets. That doesn't mean we should stop using them for children.

Is your dog named Sadie?

Sadie is not my favorite, it's not bad but not a name I would use for me. However the suggestion of possibly Sarah and a nn Sadie? Most people I know named Sarah always go by Sarah but I have seen Sadie and Sally as nicknames for Sarah. Sarah goes with your sibset.

I love the name Sadie and I think it's fine as a stand alone name. It doesn't remind me of a dog's name either. Sadie Jane or Sadie Mae would be adorable.

I love Sadie. It doesn't feel too nicknamey to me, and a lot of names ending in long e do. I wouldn't worry about the dog thing. I know dogs named Lucy, Charlie, Annie, still like all of those names for humans.

It's a great name.. It's also a popular dog name so as long as you aren't sensitive about people telling you how they love the name so much they gave it to their cocker spaniel - no problem.
I can sympathize as I have a daughter named Lucy. I have heard her name being called multiple times in public, including at restaurants, only to turn around and find a woman speaking to the dog she's feeding frenchfries to on her lap.

My DD's name is a popular dog's name too. It's ok. I like dogs. And I really like Sadie. And for the record, I don't know any dogs named Sadie.

I used to work with a Sadie, she's probably 40 something, and I always thought it was an odd name for an adult. And I think that holds if you look at how people described it... "adorable" "cute". I am 37, I don't want an adorable name. It would be fine as a nn but I'm NAF of it as a given name.

I know 2 little girl Sadies and I used to work at a doggie daycare with a LOT of Sadies. People can use people names for dogs without ruining the people name but I feel like it's like Brody - where the main association is now dog for me. Combined with the seeming new found trendiness for human babies, I'm not a fan of it.

Sadie definitely reminds me of a pet name, although in my case I had a guinea pig named Sadie, not a dog.

However the thing that bothers me most about Sadie is that it is a very juvenile name- I can't imagine it aging well at all.
