Since I now know that my mom's throwing a surprise shower some time in October, I'm going to be suspicious of every invitation we receive from people to come over. Everything will be viewed as a potential ruse.
For example, last night we were at my sister's for dinner and she mentioned wanting to have an Oktoberfest Party in early October and if we were free. That's now suspect.
Any suggestion for a Packer party is also suspect (that's what they did for our wedding shower).
It's a daily exercise of self-control to not "accidentally" log in to DH's email to just find out. ![]()
Re: Suspicious of every invite....
That would drive me crazy!
My bridal shower was a total surprise- it was my Grandma's birthday party that my husband and I were going to, so when we got there and I saw all my family it didn't hit me until I saw some friends and my other side of the family. I couldn't believe my husband got all dressed up to go to Grandma's birthday party just to take me and drop me off. AND that my Grandma totally handed over her birthday-day so I could have a bridal shower.
For my baby shower, my mom flat out asked me if I wanted a surprise or not because she doesn't think anyone should surprise a pregnant woman lol. So I know when its going to be.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now I'm suspicious of the plans for Mom's 75th birthday next weekend being a ruse.....

OH I'm not a fan of surprises. I would have totally logged onto H's email by now! haha
I like to know when, where, who, how, and why about everything!
start giving wishy washy answers... I dunno how i will feel, im not sure I am free, we'll see when it gets closer...
I did that for my bridal shower and at least figured out what day it was.... I am not a surpirse person at all.... but it was kind of fun to fake the surprise. My best friend was the only one who picked up i faked it and she planned the surprise! She was soooo mad at me... lol i could tell through the whole shower I thought she was going to kill...
as for the email.. my husband knows everything about my shower but they are communicating via text.... he does not want anything in writing since his mom and SIL are planning it. My BF moved to washington last year. I know she has a hand in it but she is not talkin to me about it... punks! lol
My mom and sister (and in-laws, apparently!) are planning my shower for sometime in Oct/Nov... I wanted it Sept/Oct but because of some health issues with my dad, mom needed to make it later.
I found out that DH has been sending facebook messages to/from a girl I work with, and apparently she is making sure I have off on the shower date, and she is getting addresses of the other girls at work for him, so he can give them to my mom. (Mom would do it, but DH actually knows my coworkers.) I promised not to check his facebook messages, but I really really want to!
Good luck with yours! I would be suspicious in September, too, just in case!
