Baby Carriers/ Wearers : )

Re: Baby Carriers/ Wearers : )

  • I'm still no use with wraps - check to see if you have a local Baby Wearing group. I'm heading to one this weekend - it's nice because you can try them on and figure out what works for you!

  • I love tula. I have a ring sling, standard size, and a toddler tula that just came in the mail that hubby is making me wait till Christmas for. I like tula because of the comfort plus they have such variety in prints. I want to get a lenny lamb or a kinderpack with the mesh panel.

I like ssc For the ease of use and adjusting. I am intimidated by wrapping, but may borrow one and give it a try. Definitely spend the money on a quality carrier, they are well worth the money.
  • PSA: Ergos are on clearance at Target right now if you're looking for a deal.

On top of the other carriers I have, I bought a woven wrap to use with this LO, and am still working on breaking it in, but it is not as intimidating as I thought it would be. It helps that DD can hold on when I wrap her up so even if she isn't as supported as she should be, she's not going to fall.

  • I know this thread is old but I am reviving it because I didn't want to start a new one. I lightly skimmed the responses for the specific wrap I am looking for and I didn't see it.

Has anyone heard of and/or tried the solly baby wrap? I would like to know how their quality is, and how weight distribution for pack pain went.

Watching their tutorials online seem to be fairly easy.

This tutorial is for their newborn wrap.

The solly is very similar to the Moby wrap. They are made of similar fabric and tied same way. I have a moby style wrap and a good friend has the solly. The solly has less fabric to wrangle and comes in really cute patterns. I loved carrying DD in the wrap carrier and as long as I made sure to spread the shoulder section of fabric out, I had very little pain.
  • My experience is also with the Moby rather than the Solly, but a stretchy wrap is a fabulous newborn option slash gateway drug for wraps. Now I want to buy a Solly so I can talk about it! They're way cuter than the Moby, and I want to know if the support is as good, being a thinner fabric (in wraps, thinner usually means it digs into the shoulders of the wearer sooner).
  • Not sure if it's been mentioned but there is a group on Facebook called baby wearing on a budget that people buy and sell various carriers. I've come across some great deals. There is also a separate group called everyday baby wearing that you can ask all kinds of questions and get great insight on carriers

I never wore DS1, but I think baby wearing will probably be the way to go for DS2 to make life easier. I can't imagine having DS1 sitting in the shopping cart while DS2 is in his infant car seat inside the cart! I think I'm going to go with the Ergo, just because most of the other ones look way too pricey:

  • I went to a local babywearing meeting Saturday and they have a crazy library of carriers you can try out (and weighted dummies to put in them - shout out to Didy!) I thought ring slings looked so scary until the meeting - so comfy and my husband even liked them and said he'd rock one! :)
