Can anyone recommend a support belt? My bump is growing so much faster this time around (we've had 2 u/s that show him measuring 10ish days ahead) and my bump is so sore by the end of the day. It feels like my muscles are ripping. It's a weird sensation.

  • @K&Elizabeth huh?

I fixed it. The app went crazy and posted before I was done then closed. Weird.

I feel that ripping / tight feeling when I get super bloated after lunch. It's painful.

I saw somewhere a long support tank top that had ribbing around the belly. I'm not sure if something like that would be enough

I'm 99% sure it was on targets website .

Edit: I know for a fact I saw maternity support belts on target.com but not sure about the tank :)

No, I didn't really start to show until about 26 weeks with my daughter. My midwife and the OB at the practice said that if I wasn't positive about my ovulation date (I temped and use OPKs so I'm 100% positive) that they would be moving up my due date from 4/17 to 4/5. I'm going for my GD test next week to try to figure out why he is so large. My DH was 10 lbs and his brother was 12 lbs which sounds terrible haha.

It just feels so heavy underneath- like I need to hold it up.

I've been using the Blanqui tank top - I believe it's called a body styler? I LOVE it. SUPER comfy, not restrictive, and the full tank improves my posture, which I'm grateful for on the days I spend hunched over at a desk. I've noticed my abdomen is less sore, as well, because I have a tendency to suck it my "gut," though it does no good at this point as it's quite firm.

I payed $68 I believe for the underbust version, but if I did it again I'd get the full tank. I may still get one. My torso is short, so it doesn't sit quite right and I have to adjust once in a while. Thus far, it has stretched well with my growing belly because the top part of the belly is more stretchy and breathable than the bottom, which is stretchy but more supportive. It also doesn't make me overheat and dries fast, so I give it a good rinse every night after work and it's holding up really well.
  • I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I CAN BUMP MOBILE IN OVER A WEEK. THANK YOU BUMP DEITIES.

    Love it!
Truthfully, I'm half considering leaving now. I don't think I want to be part of a country who can even consider this ass clown for office.
  • I need some help brainstorming. DH's grandma (basically his acting mom) apparently needs some gift ideas for me. Other than gift cards, which I know she doesn't like giving, and a roomba, which is too expensive, I've got nothing. I suggested an under-desk foot hammock (yep, that's a thing), but it wouldn't arrive until after Christmas. There's just not much *stuff* I want this year other than things I would pick out myself, or baby stuff. Help!

I told everyone that still needs to buy presents for me to just buy them off of my registry. Some items are furniture that I will use, and the rest is mostly baby stuff. Even some things that aren't necessary are on there, such as calming music cds. The only other thing I got was a spa day package from my mom.
  • @NOLA520, no upcoming events that I can think of. I'm not a big sports person, and concerts haven't been very fun recently with how crappy I've been feeling and the inability to drink. We also don't get many good ones here this time of year anyway. Maybe I'll ask for a zoo membership, though. It would be nice to be able to use when baby is here.

@Bubbles3592, while I don't have any issue with her buying stuff off of the registry if she wants, I'm not going to come out and ask for that. DH is asking for actual gifts for himself, so I'd like something fun too, not just practical stuff. You know? Unless she wants to buy that roomba, and then hell yes.

  • Oh zoo membership is an awesome idea! I might have to pass that idea along to the grandparents! I'm no help with ideas... I keep telling people to just buy from our registry and they say gifts for us are different from gifts for baby... which I get, but at the same time anything left on our registry we have to buy... so it really is a gift to us if we don't have to buy it! Ha ha

Maybe add some baby stuff that's really "for you" to your registry like nursing camis, a camera/camcorder or a tv series? That way if you want you can return and use the money for more necessary things on the registry and they have some options that feel less like they're buying you a tub you won't fit in :)

  • Oh good idea @mrstrax ! And the mental picture of me trying to bathe in a baby tub has me rolling now!
  • @AEG - One of those wine club membership, starting in May, would also be awesome, if you're looking for something that's just for you.  Possible a reservation for a night at a BnB for before the baby comes (with an offer to babysit, if you've got a LO already, I can't recall off the top of my head).

Is there anything you like and use often that you could ask for a luxury version of? Like if you're a tea drinker, a fancy electric water kettle or some teas that you can't get at Safeway. If you love cooking, a nicer set of knives or a nice set of pots and pans. Or ridiculous appliances that make things you like, but would never buy yourself (crepe maker, panini press, or donut pans).

Sorry, I'm apparently a little laser-focused on food right now...
  • hahaha @AGK2015, normally I'd be right there with you on the foodie items. But I'm still barely even cooking at all, so fancy gadgets don't hold their typical appeal. I'm not a big wine drinker...wonder if they have vodka-of-the-month clubs?? ;)

  • Vodka? More like vom-ka.  Girl, maybe you should ask for better taste for Christmas ;)

What else are you interested in, when you're feeling like yourself?  I'm totally in Christmas shopping mode these days, I'd be happy to shop virtually for you as well!

Heh. I'm also a gin fan. Or belgian beer.

I'm normally a clotheshorse. But...don't really want to ask for a shit ton of maternity clothes, ya know? Or clothes that I can't wear for 5+ months. We end up exchanging most of the clothing she buys for us and the kids anyway since it's not usually the same taste. I told DH the zoo idea, and nice scented candles. I'm not sure what happened to most of mine, but I can't find any, so what the heck.

  • Another random post/question. I'm working on the scrapbook for baby and my fiancé and I have a weird sense of humor. We have an overall jungle theme to the scrapbook, so we were trying to come up with ideas for it. We decided to title the first page/part "Smashing Discovery", and have a picture of Nigel Thornberry as the book's "tour guide"/narrator, with later pages using variations of his catchphrase, such as "Splashing" for bath time fun, and "Dashing" for handsome little man photos. Is that too corny? I'm worried that the older generations who may view it won't appreciate it. Our closest friends think it's hilarious. I don't know why I feel the need to please everyone, but I want people to enjoy it as much as we do. I guess I know it's corny and just want someone to tell me it's okay to show our corny humor to other people.
  • Anybody try birchbox ? I was thinking about asking for a subscription for Christmas.

Does it feel like pressure on your belly? I'm still in the land of throwing up, but I think support is going to outweigh queasy-ness at his point.

I think this is adorable! And it may give your LO something to research, since the Thornberry's won't be around when he grows up. Also works well with your theme.

@jonesl12 I tried it for about 4 months over the summer and liked the majority of the items, though I think someone who does their hair/makeup on a more regular basis would get a lot more use out of it than I did.
  • @NOLA520 that's good to know! I should also note that birch box has an item each month that you can choose, but for normal people who work and can't check their email constantly on the day it's sent, you can't actually choose what you want because everything is snatched up so quickly.

Oooh, they must've started that after I unsubscribed. Sounds promising, if you can actually get something you like.

I gave up after some horrible neon pink lip gloss. I just don't have time to consistently check my email during the day, and I don't plan on doing anything where that color would be appropriate any time in the foreseeable future.
  • I can't believe how long pregnancy lasts. I feel like it's already been forever and there are still so many months left!
  • DD gave me her stomach bug. I'm in awe of anyone that has HG. 12 hours of constant vomiting and I wanted to die. I can't even imagine going through that for weeks. At least when I can stand the thought of food again I can eat all the ice cream to gain some weight back

  • Question for STMs or anyone with experience: do you do anything charitable with your LOs around the holidays? It's so easy to get wrapped up in materialism that I'd really like to start something next year just to show Ellie how important it is to be unselfish in a world where people trample each other for sales on electronics. I know she'll be too young to really understand, but I figure the sooner I start the sooner it'll become the norm for the family.
