symptom is BITCH. I told my boyfriend I hate him, broke up with him and blocked his number. Why? All because he had to take his daughter to dance and couldn't spend the day with me. I swear I've turned into a crazy person
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Nothing Questions? None I guess
Forgot to add my take on names. We are set for a boy but we love our Dd name so much that it is hard to find another we agree on. We did is week and then found out it is extremely popular and that kind of puts me off. I don't mind that the name isn't youuunique but a top 5 name for the last 10 years?anyone have an opinion on picking popular (but traditional names?). Will child hate me when there are 40 of her name in class?! (I am over thinking this!)
@HighFive16, I'm having similar issues. We love DDs name and can't seem to find another girl name. I like one pretty well, but it's been in the top 10 for the last 4 years. (I made a spreadsheet to compare all options. Excel FTW!)
I dislike the thought of using a popular name that will have half the kids turning around on the playground when I call for my child... but I also remember how cool the all the Ashleys and Lindsays thought it was to have a classmate with the same name...
That being said, I think with the amount of speshul snowflayke names everyone seems to love, the overall percentage of people using the top ten name is far less than it was in the past. Have you looked at the numbers on the SSA name list?
June 2016 April Siggy Challenge: Reasons my kid is crying
@highfive16 -- It's super common for kids to go through a period of hating their name, no matter what it is. Name your child something that you love and it will all work out.
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I've been feeling so much better the last week and half. I did have a little nausea rear its head last night, but tolerable. Just peeing a lot and have restless legs at night. Super happy my blood work results have been trickling in and everything is good so far! Anxiously waiting for the genetics test results next week- those are the ones I'm really nervous about.
What are you doing to get ready for baby: I committed to taking the pregnancy day by day during the first trimester so I'm waiting until I get my test results (and gender) to really start planning. I'm so hesitant to get excited which has put a little bit of a damper on the whole experience. I'm hoping to kick that once I'm out of the first trimester. Then it's time to start picking names and planning a nursery. I won't start making purchases until next year- probably around March/ April. AHHHH- seems so far away.
Questions: When should I start a registry? Is food aversion/cravings only during the first trimester? Who hung up a little stocking for the LO???
GTKY- What's your favorite cereal: Captain Crunch with Crunch berries, but Fruity Pebbles is a close runner up.
@ucfgemini - you can start a registry whenever, but you don't necessarily need to make it public just yet! It's fun to add little things here and there. I just started a secret pinboard on Pinterest to add stuff as I found it.
As for cravings/aversions- they sometimes get a bit better in the second tri, but there were things I still loathed until a couple weeks after delivery. Right now, I HATE mushrooms, and I normally lovelovelove them. And coffee? Blech. But it'll come back eventually
How far along are you: 14w2d Rants/Raves/Symptoms: So many rants today, where to start?!
1. My neck is still completely out of whack, but I was able to find an in-network chiropractor and make an appointment for Monday, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.
2. I had my second OB appt yesterday and saw the NP this time. She was nice, but I left feeling a lot less "yay happy" than I did my first appt. There just seemed to be so much emphasis on what could go wrong because of my "advanced maternal age" (I'm a whopping 36 years old). Because I'm over 35, I have to schedule my anomaly scan at a hospital rather than being able to do it in-office, and they said the tech at the hospital won't really tell me much so they were encouraging me to follow up with the office a few days later to make sure we could go over the results and they could "counsel" me if needed. I know it's routine...I know it's standard...but it felt like there was this expectation that something was going to be amiss. It was less than reassuring. But I did get to hear the heartbeat, which was pretty great.
3. My BIL invited my DH to hang out with him and some of his friends tonight, and I encouraged him to go (he's a post-doc at a hospital and works long hours, so I like him to go socialize and have fun when the opportunity arises, since he works so hard). But when I asked him yesterday what time they were going out tonight, he told me they were planning to meet up at a microbrewery at NOON and would be hanging out the entire day and evening as well. Um...that was not quite what I though it would be. I just thought they'd hang out at NIGHT and we would spend time together as a family today. I didn't protest, because he doesn't do that kind of thing often, but...I was just sort of taken aback. BIL and his friends drink heavily, so I guess that's standard for them. Because my DH works constantly, it's always just me and our 3 year old and we really look forward to seeing him (and I look forward to having a little help) on the weekends. But there's still tomorrow.
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Nothing besides gestating. Questions? The card they gave me for scheduling the anomaly scan said I should arrive with a full bladder. What the hell? I never had to do that with my last pregnancy. And these things take up to 45 minutes? Hell to the no can I be lying down with someone pushing on my belly for 45 minutes while I have to pee. I'm afraid I would pee on the table! Do you have to have a full bladder for the entirety of the scan? Please tell me no. I have a really sensitive bladder and there are few things I hate more than having to pee and not having the opportunity. GTKY: What is your favorite cereal? I love Honey Bunches of Oats (remember that commercial with the lady who yells, "We gotta feed America!" Classic)

I did have a super common name growing up and at one point was in an elementary class with three others of the same name. At the time I hated it. Classmates would always comment on it. And everyone called me by my first name and last initial (like for everything). However, as someone mentioned, I'm not sure if top 10 names are as common as they were back then. There really weren't very many unique names when I was growing up.

Hello. Joining now... felt a little odd about just listing symptoms so I didn't follow those threads.
12+2
Rant is I am still soooo nauseated. That's my only complaint really.
I have been preparing for baby by buying cloth diapers. Unless I have a huge chunk or an allergic kid, I shouldn't need to buy more.
No questions really.
My favorite cereal is Kashi blueberry cluster something or other.
@HighFive16 I have a super common 80s name and was one of 6 girls in my Spanish class with the same name. We were lined up and called by our last initial. Hated it. We intentionally choose names outside of the top 50 or so and definitely avoid the top 15-20.
@parsonsperson I went with my sis for an anatomy scan and she had a full bladder for may 6-7 minutes before they told her to empty. Each time they saw it fill on the monitor they made her empty. 4 times total
Late to reply but the name is still in the top 10 for names last year. I agree though that with all the more out there names the traditional even though popular ones will phase out.
