  • Okay ladies, I need some opinions here. I have the option at this hospital to either deliver with an OB or a certified nurse midwife. What are the pros/cons?!
  • In the same boat as @bntfroggie - now that we are past the "gotta do it right now and every other day for the next X days" for the last year+ we are definitely doing it quite a bit less mostly because I am not just giving it away as easily lol. I expect a little more romance again!

Have you met with both? I'd say talk to each and see which one you like better.

  • @2goofykids I've only ever delivered with CNMs and they're amazing - sorry I can't give you the perspective of the other.  They have just as much knowledge as an OB, so you can take comfort in that.  From what I've heard, they spend way more time with you while you're in labor, which is awesome.  I love the personal touch of CNMs.  I'm available for any specific questions.

@mrspepper05 you're so cute, I love the Jesus cake idea!

I sucked it up for DH the other night but ended up getting winded and crying

Definitely definitely had to read this more than once! I think I missed the "up".....
Couldn't agree with ye more about having all of the sex when TTC and not so much anymore! I'm ok with it though, I pretty much look exactly like that cat!

Unfortunately I'm not able to meet with both, just do my research. They're both women, and the hospital they deliver at is wonderful. I'm just wondering if I should go with the OB since I may need a c-section with the baby being so big.
  • How I feel every. single. time.

Are you positive the baby is big enough to require a c-section? The sizing scans are notoriously off. I've been told to look forward to a c-section and while he was my biggest he was only 9lbs 6ozs so I was still able to deliver vaginally.

  • @2goofykids i absolutely agree with @skruhmin. i wish we had CNMs here! i'd definitely choose a midwife over an OB if i had the option. my OB is great, and the reason i transferred care with my last baby from my old cut-happy OB (who somehow had an abnormally high amount of babies who were "too large" to birth vaginally). my current OB has been described as offering the same quality care as a midwife, and i can attest that he does. but if he were not here, i would be seeking a midwife willing to risk the legalities of delivering my baby here, or driving to one of our neighboring states (prob staying with my parents in GA for the last month-ish of pregnancy) to deliver with a midwife. some MWs may not be as good as others - some OBs are great; i love mine. but none of the other OBs here are great. so i'd want a mw if i didn't have this particular doctor. if a MW was an option here, i wouldn't have even sought this doctor out though.

  • Little boys crack me up. "The numbers are fighting about who is first but they don't know #1 is always first" he has a whole dialog going for this
  • @skruhmin socks?! Please. Try putting on full maternity compression hose. Talk about wrestling yourself. I seriously get SUPER winded, sweaty and usually pissed off by the time I'm done. I've been known to take them off halfway through, put my pajamas on, plop down on the couch and tell my husband I didn't want to go anyways. Smh lol.

  • I'm exhausted. I'm throwing jammies on and calling it a night- at 630 pm. I got to play babysitter at work all afternoon, to come home and find dh had gone to work ON HIS DAY OFF- AGAIN, Dd had fallen asleep in my bed, dishes not done, couch cover thrown off, and no dinner (I sound selfish at that one lol). I wake my child up to find she never did her homework- because my husband was supposed to make her when she got home but he wasn't here to do so. In the last 2 hours I've done dishes, fixed my couch, cooked pizza FROM SCRATCH, and while dh was supposed to help her with her homework, he played "dumb" so I had to help her with that too. I need to start taking it easier, but can't when I have to come home to that crap! I'm beat.

  • Its 33 degrees here and I had to work outside today. I was warned to dress in layers. I'm glad I wore all the layers because I was still cold! OMG, winter is going to SUCK!
Imagine this... Pregnant lady has on jeans, T-shirt, zip up hoodie, and shoes. Proceeds to put on suspender style snow pants (there's no f-ing way those will ever get zipped up!) Then on goes the winter coat, a headband, and both hoods. By the time I got to the gloves, I seriously had to sit down and rest!
Then all day, squatting down, standing up, and just moving around in general was a freaking CHORE!
OMG, I'm never going to make it!

  • @2goofykids I agree with everything everyone else has said, and also wanted to add that if you have even the slightest inclination to give it a go med - free then go with the cnm. Not to make a sweeping generalization, but CNMs are generally more knowledgeable about alternative methods of pain relief.

  • So... apparently Married at First Sight is starting a new season tonight... Things that make me feel miserable for ditching cable!
  • @smushi I have watched a few episodes of that. I could never marry a stranger like that. NUTS!
