What name have you settled on?

What do you plan on naming LO? Is there any history behind the name or is it just something you and your SO like?

Harlo James. Its a name that no one has really heard of and We wanted our boys to have the same initials and middle name. Our first is Hunter James Jr.

Our little one is going to be called Oscar - no particular reason just a name we've always liked. This will be our 4th and last baby & although our second is also a boy (other 2 are girls) we decided to call him something different from the start of my pregnancy (not sure why). It's quite nice though as our eldest was going to be Oscar if a boy and our current youngest too. It's lovely to finally be able to use the name :) Also our older boy (2nd) was going to be Keira if a girl and that's what our 3rd child is now called so I feel complete, as all of our names have been used :)
  • Henry Lawrence, Henry just cause, Lawrence is my husband's grandfather's name- our first son has my grandfather's name for a middle name.
  • The first name will be Josephine. This is after my FIL's mother who died when he was about 8, leaving him an orphan as his father died during a war. Joseph is also my FIL's middle name and my fathers first name. The middle name will be Lee, which is my middle name as well as my grandmothers nickname, she was name Emily. I just love names with meaning, I think because both my names are after loved ones.

  • Amberly Elizabeth Ann.
Amberly: my middle names after combining them
    Elizabeth: my godmother's middle name
Ann: Mom, sister, and MIL inspired
  • Paige... Haven't decided on a middle name yet. I'm leaning towards Noelle since I'm due 1/4 and it's close to Christmas, but the hubs doesn't like it...
  • We have a short list of 3 names, but I'm pretty sure DH and I are humoring each other with a name each so we'll probably go with the mutually agreed upon name which is James Alexander. Simple, traditional, no deep meaning for us, just names we both like and names that work well in both our countries.
  • We are team green and have settled on a girl name, June. There is no meaning behind the name. We just really like it. Haven't decided on a middle name or boy name yet.

I love all the names so far. @mum2be+4 Oscar is on our list. I love that name!

  • Gracelyn Harper. My middle name is grace and our first was going to be named this if he was a girl. Wanted something a little different but not super different
  • Hazel Grace. Grace after my grandmother. Hazel just because we really like the older names.

    Olive.
  • @bmahon0921 - I love Hazel Grace.
  • Our LO is going to be Lucy Agnes. Lucy because we like that's it's recognizable name but not totally common and Agnes is my middle name, my mums name, my paternal grandmothers name and my mum's aunt's name and I'm sure it goes even farther back than that but you get the idea. DH and I have joked about added Noelle in there if she surprises us on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day but, that would have her arriving pretty early so hopefully she stays cooking until 1/13.

  • Jacob Arthur

Jacob, just because.  Arthur is my grandpa's middle name and my baby brother's name.

    OR

    Hannah May

Hannah just b/c (Though I'm still pushing for Evelyn), and May is my mother's middle name.

  • Henry Francis III if it's a boy. My husband was adopted and always felt honored his father gave him his name so he feels he should. Plus I love the name Henry.
Ella Rose if it's a girl. Ella is a part of a song that was actually our wedding song and he has bought me roses for every occasion for the past 9 years. Plus I love roses.
Can't wait to see which name it will be!! Only 9 or so more weeks
  • Ayva Jean- Ayva doesn't have a background but Jean is a family name on DH side
  • @ekscopp I love the meaning behind your name choices! Very thoughtful.

  • I think we are going to go with Liam. This is my favorite but I'm still having Second thoughts because it is so popular.
  • Isabella. Hubby and I are huge history buffs and he wanted to go with Elizabeth. I'm also huge on my Spanish background, so we settled with Isabella which is the Spanish version of Elizabeth
  • @bmahon0921 be ready to field lots of fault in our stars questions it's a beautiful name but also the main character in the book/movie

So far we have chosen Sienna Ryan Sienna just because and Ryan is my brothers name and it starts with r which both dd and ss middle names start with
  • Henry Jon! Henry is my DH great-grandfather, and Jon is short for Jonny for my grandpa. My DH's family is very very big on family names, but I love both!
  • @holocene thank you so much!
@rainybabe82 I know it's the main character in the movie. I just fell in love with it when I thought about it. And it's also the first name my DH loved and started talking to the baby using that name and it just melted my heart.

I originally wanted to name her a Phoebe but DH didn't want a million Friends references on top of the other ones I give daily. Haha.
  • I just watched the movie like three days ago and wouldn't make the association. Ha ha. I think you're good.... or perhaps I'm just really, really tired.

  • Haha understood. I'm tired all the time.
  • Graham Joseph... We both loved Graham and Joseph is the middle name of my maternal grandfather whom I loved dearly (he passed away in 2000)
  • Devin Matthew. No meaning behind it. We neither one have family names that we want to pass for a boy. Devin is a normal name without a weird spelling or so obscure. I don't really like "different" or "unique" names. My mom named me a "unique" name and I hate it. I wish I would have had something more traditional like my husband. What I wouldn't give to have ever had my name on a pencil growing up. Lol
  • I think we are between
    Nora Adele and Taylor Adele

Adele was my cousins middle name and she was killed in a car accident when she was 19 (I was 15) Nora and Taylor we just like.
  • Either Nolan James or Sullivan James. First names are ones that we like, leaning more toward Sullivan b/c it is less popular than Nolan. James is DH's grandfathers name.

  • Her first name is going to be Charlotte, it has no meaning we just love the name and I think the nickname Charlie is adorable. We're debating between the middle name Grace (because my mom had a dream we named the baby grace and it stuck with me as a middle name) or Marie (my and my grandmas middle name). Leaning towards Charlotte Marie right now :)
  • I think we have for sure decided on Ryan Gregory. Ryan is my husbands middle name and Gregory is my dads name. Really wanted to name this little guy after my the two most important men in my life :)
  • We've got a few we're still mulling over and ultimately we think we'll decide when we meet him:

Marlo, Maxon/Maxen, or Owen with Jack as the definite middle name. Marlo is my favorite - it popped into my head at random a day or two after we found out it's a boy and it's just fit my perceived personality of him ever since. It sounds nothing like mine or my husband's name, or like any name we've heard of (which is a good thing to us). My only worry is if it's "too" different. Maxon/en we like mostly for Max (but our last name starts with an S so just calling him Max would sound strange). Owen I love but I keep seeing it's the most popular boy name of 2015 which I'd like to avoid. Hubby likes them all but doesn't "love" anything except three names that have all been used for our nephews!! Sigh!

Jack is my Pap's nickname, which I always though was his real name and has sentimental value to me, but it doesn't work with our last name as a first.

@kayelah23 it's reassuring to see someone else with an "arlo" type name for a boy! I love it!

If we were having a girl we'd be totally set on Lila Eden! Lila is not only my favorite girl name but it sounds like my sister and hubby's sister's names combined, and Eden is the name of a town near and dear to my husband's family.
  • Brynlee Harper. Basically, we suck at agreeing on names. Originally, I liked Brynn or Presley, SO liked Berklee. SO was adopted into an Arab family, so there are limited names that sound reasonable with the last name. Apparently with our son, I set off a huge feud by naming him Cohen (they weren't happy with a Jewish name-whatever). Presley is of Jewish origin, so that got nixed. Berklee sounds terrible with the last name... so we combined Brynn and Berklee to get Brynlee. Harper is just pretty and we liked it (we agreed on something!)
We wanted a less common name because... well, I'm Jessica and he's Michael. Both were the #1 name for like 3 decades.
  • Hannah Marie....we just both really liked the name Hannah and agreed on it lol and Marie is my middle name :)
  • Michael Ellington

Mostly because we like each name but my bf's nickname growing up was Mike (although that is not his name...long story). When we found out we were having a boy I made a list of my favorite boy names and my bf did the same...Michael was our only overlapping name.

Ellington is truly just a name we liked.  I enjoy a more unusual name but we decided to save the unique name for a middle name.
