1. We got a freaking letter from daycare that RSV has been confirmed & found out one was in LO's class!!!! Ughhhhhh. & Dr. Google SUCKS. LO has had a cold for over a week now, so we have two senarios here. Either she had a mild case of RSV last week & fought it OR she had a cold & her immune system is shot & she's open to get this RSV. Stupid Dr. Google talks about it being either like a mild cold OR so bad that the baby is hospitalized for oxygen issues. Ughhhhhhhh stupid sickness issues. Any kind of advice?
Anyways. My morning schedule. Wake up between 5:00-545 (this determines whether I'm fixing my hair & looking nice that day). I have bottles ready, bags packed, & my & LOs outfits ready. I feed her between 6-615 & leave by 630. Not much help. I'm a hot mess in the morning.
I guess my morning routine isn't that far off what you guys do, considering I get twins ready by myself. DH leaves for work at 6:30, so he doesn't help in the mornings. Here's what our routine looks like.
Bottles ready in the cooler in the fridge the night before Pump stuff bagged and ready to go Lay out baby clothes and my clothes the night before 6:30 am-ish. I wake up when the babies make me. I set an alarm, usually for 6:00, but no matter how hard I try, I can't get up before they wake up and make me!
6:45-7:15 bottle feed both babies
7:15-7:45 pump while entertaining babies
7:45-8:15 get babies dressed, eat my breakfast, try to read the paper, entertain babies
8:15-8:45 shower, hair and makeup. During this time, the babies get cranky because they want to be held. This is stressful, because I'd like to play with them, but I need to get myself ready. I usually just have to let them cry. I might try moving an activity mat right outside my bathroom door to see if this helps.
8:45-9:00 pack up car (bottles, purse, coffee, pump stuff...), pack up babies
9:00ish, drop babies at daycare, pump while driving to my my first appointment
2 1/2 hours goes by so fast in the morning! I don't know how I'd do it if I had to be to work any earlier on a consistent basis! (I've had a few days I've had to drop them off at 8:00--there is NO breathing room on those days!).
Not to scare anyone (so don't watch these now) but there are videos you can easily search online to see what rsv breathing looks like. If you are in a situation where you don't know if you are dealing with rsv it helps. We had a really sick kid during the heart of an rsv outbreak in our city and knowing what the breathing looked like was invaluable.
Our schedule is: Night before - prepare bottles and lay out my work clothes. Morning- - DH wakes up at 530, gone by 6 6-630 - I wake up, shower and get ready for work 630-645 - flex time to pack bags for day 645- wake LO up, if not already up 645-715 - feed and change LO 730 - daycare drop off 8- catch train to work for 9 am arrival (work on train typically)
I can't believe it's a three hour morning, it doesn't feel that long!

Seriously, sounds like you are really efficient! Takes me almost two hours with only one, when I have to do daycare dropoff. A couple things that help me shave a little time is that I shower at night and let my (very fine) hair air dry, and I pack breakfast that I can eat at my desk while checking e-mail. Guess that wouldn't really work for you, as you're already multitasking by pumping on the commute. I agree, it's stressful to focus on getting ready, when LO just wants to be held and play - kinda stinks

What are all your thoughts on switching jobs with a little baby at home? I've got a tough decision in front of me. There are pros & cons either way. Haven't been offered the job yet but it is looking very promising. I don't know what to do. Second interview is on Thursday.

I've been avoiding switching because I have so much flexibility in my current job.
I'd think about what's most important to you right now, whether that's money, flex time, predictable schedule, whatever. Then make a list of pros and cons for each job. Then look at all your lists and see which job's pros are the best fit for your priorities and the cons don't make the pros moot. Also look at it in relation to your partner's job/schedule.
Even if you don't want to switch jobs, you may be able to use the offer to leverage additional money, time, etc at your current position, if you're able to negotiate.
Good luck! It's a good problem to have, but still a really stressful decision.
Ugh we've got another cold. Poor baby was snoring last night and woke up with hardened snot all over her face. DH said she vomited during her first bottle feed this morning even though he nose friedaed her before it. She was probably trying to expel mucus. Now we don't even know if he should bother taking her to daycare since as soon as she vomits again we'll have to go pick her up. Hopefully this cold will go quickly. :-(
@delujm0 I feel your pain. My LO caught the cold that the rest of us had last week. He hasn't thrown up but listening to him breathing through the snot and cleaning it off of his face in the morning is so sad. Hope your LO feels better soon!
Aww! I'm so sorry @delujm0
Also miss you on here! Been a little bit since I've seen you post!
I miss you guys too...i won't lie, i haven't been posting as much because LO generally STTN at this point, so i'm not Bumping in the MOTN! I don't want to rub that in really, since so many haven't gotten to that point yet. I still keep up with my standard threads though. :-)
To be fair, i consider waking up for a feed at 4:30am during the week "STTN" because my alarm goes off at 4:45 for work anyway so...it's actually easier to just nurse her than it is to have to pump. but i guess 7pm - 4:30am is pretty good! She usually goes back to sleep afterwards for 90 minutes, give or take. This morning she fell asleep on top of me after that feed (which is unusual, she normally gets put back in the crib at least partially awake), and she was pretty mad about the transfer. Poor sick baby just wanted to snuggle. DH said she did better after her second bottle and morning nap, so she's at daycare...we'll see how long that lasts. Sigh.
Hi ladies! LO has a cold with a fever. Totally sucks. I read some of the pp and am curious as to what is RSV? LO starting to cough this evening and it sounds weird, not sure what is "normal". I'll be monitoring him all night and if it doesn't get better I'll prob take him in to doctor.
For those mommas whose LO's have experienced colds, how long did it last?
@beemaya83 others can attest but I do think a week or more is normal for it to totally run its course. I'd say a humidifier helps, as does saline nose drops and in our case, a nebulizer when her breathing got bad. (Doc would need to prescribe it). We also ran the shower and sat with her in a steamy bathroom when it was at its worst. Good luck, you will get through it!
Both of my kids have had colds for 2+ weeks. I felt like DS had a constant cold for the first 6 months of daycare. Luckily, he never had anything worse until he was 1 year. We just said it's time to break out the humidifiers for the kids' rooms.

Last night DH was like "i feel like we need to buy another humidifier...for OUR room." Our house gets SO DRY once we start running the heat at night. We both have sore throats now. Ugh.
On the bright side, LO made it through the day at daycare yesterday, though she skipped her afternoon nap...but that means that she STTN for a solid 12 hours last night. She coughed a few times but i guess it didn't bother her too much. Score. I really jacked up the humidifier, so hopefully that helped. She was still asleep when i left this morning, so DH was in charge of snot removal.
The nurse at our pedi's office suggested letting LO sleep in his car seat if his congestion was really bad. We've done it a few times and it works wonders.
@hudson202 That made me laugh! I've had those days and I chuckle when I see other moms. Yep, she got dressed in the dark while trying to feed a baby and make coffee.
I'm back at work, but dropped down to 30 hours a week. I work weekends and evenings while dh is home. With twins and a 3 year old, we would have had to split them into different daycares and it was my whole paycheck. So we opted out of daycare. DS was ALWAYS sick from daycare, so I'm thrilled that they aren't in one anymore. The girls have been home with me or dh since day 1. I'm still ebf and pumping. When I went back to work I only had 160 ounces frozen for the girls. I was worried. I over produce by a little bit now. I've been back for 3 months and now have about 700 ounces frozen. I wish I could be a SAHM, but financially, I can't.
DS 1 has hand foot and mouth, so I had to call in for tomorrow and Tuesday.. Poor thing is miserable and I feel like it's only a matter of time until LO gets it. At least it's a short week already.
Sorry @AlyLynn07! LO & I already had that & it's no fun. Hope your DS feels better soon.
Anyone else feel like they are never ready for the work week come Sunday night? I only have a fraction of what u had hoped to have done $ some things that really needed to be done that aren't. Times like this I think I should take that other job if offered to me bc it's less hours but I'm still debating that one. It's hard to leave a job I love. If only I didn't have a crazy boss. Truly that is my biggest problem there.
^^^ yes, this exactly! I never feel ready for Monday's. And I hate starting the week off that way. Sorry you had to deal with hand-foot-and-mouth, too. Daycare man..
@AlyLynn07 I actually had HFM worse than LO. I don't think I would have known LO even had it if it wasn't for the sores on my feet & hands & how terrible I felt. She only had a couple on her hands but was fussy so I figure she had the sore throat & other symptoms too. We got it from daycare though I just have a terrible immune system & my symptoms showed up first. LO is on her third cold since I went back to work & will only sleep if she's next to DH or I. So while I'm not ready for the week I'm stuck in bed until DH is back from the store. I love to cuddle her though but hate to hear her all stuffy & she's so much more fussy than usual
@ciennah99 Yes, I've heard it's much worse for adults if they get it! That's rough! I don't know what # cold or virus we are on. It's sometimes tough to tell where one ends and the next begins. I think we'll be better in June if our experience with DS1 is any indication.
Good thing I requested a laptop. I apparently broke my computer today. It's in IT and I'm on a floater until my new one gets assembled. I should have made sure I'm getting 16G RAM before I let them take the old one. We will see...
curious how long everyone pumps for at work at each session.
I get a 15 minute break twice a day and so I pump that whole time. The break ends up being 20 with grabbing my pieces from the fridge and putting everything away.

I pump for 20 minutes, that's how long they told me to pump in the hospital and I've just always stuck with it. By the time I go to the other floor, set up the pump, pump, take things apart and rinse it's like 30-35 minutes.
I pump at 11 and 2:30ish and am lucky I don't have to clock in or out, my boss had twins a few years ago and BF them with pumping at working for 14 months so she's really supportive.
^^i pump 3 times a day and am gone from my desk for 20 minutes each time, but i'm only actually pumping for 10-12 minutes. At the 6 month mark, i'm considering doing just two pumps at work, but making them each15 minutes long (so i'd be gone from my desk for 25-30 minutes each time).
I do two 15 min pumps & one 10-12 because it's towards the end of my day & I don't want to be out of milk when I get home. I either pump at my desk or on the road. I'm a traveling social worker for hospice. Pretty proud of getting those pumps in! I wear a cover so it's fairly discreet. Not sure how it'll go in the winter because when I'm out I keep everything in my car. I imagine it'll be cold! Not looking forward to that to parting undressing & putting ice cold flanges down my shirt!

Eta: I pump during lunch too. My policy says to try to schedule them with our breaks but 15 minutes just isn't long enough!
