I don't think we're going to go with a set theme, but we know the walls will be grey, furniture will be white, & then we'll accent in either light blue or teal, or light pink. I've been having fun getting ideas on Pinterest!

@NicknShan yeah! It was a small office by our room, and we tried to keep it gender neutral for future babies. Of course it has girl touches once we found out. I'm also not a pastel baby color person.

I want to do that by my husband is so beyond against it. He seems to want to do the room all in pale yellow, or leave it the olive green that it is right now.

I love the look of the tree decals with letters hanging off the branches that spell the child's name. Our nursery is really quite small (around 10x10) so our biggest determinant for the room will be functionality, nothing excess on the floor.

I can't wait until we're out of the first trimester and I can start to get excited and really plan this out!

me too! I want a healthy first trimester so I don't feel like I'm jinxing anything, I have pinned way too much. I'm thinking gray walls, with white trim (thats through the whole house) orange and then dark pink or navy for the little one.

So fun! I have been pinning a bunch of ideas. My husband and I both love the idea of a woodland creature theme. We have painted a room a neutral grey and will pick accents based on baby's sex.

I've definitely been pinning some ideas! In fact DH and I were just talking nursery stuff this morning. We have a 2 bedroom house and our parents all live out of town so we don't want to lose a 2nd bed. We're thinking we'll keep the double bed that's in there and add baby's furniture (if it isn't too tight).

If we have a girl, I don't plan to repaint. It's currently a purple-gray color that I love. We also know we will be moving probably about a year after baby comes so if we repaint it'll likely be a fairly neutral color that keeps with the rest of the house. I want white furniture and pops of color either way! Most of my pins are for gender neutral because I just seem to like those nurseries best.

If I had to decide right now, I'd do a baby jungle. I love these prints.

I'm going to wait until after we know the sex to decide for sure, though.

We'll transform my current office into the nursery. I painted it in a fun teal color knowing that was the plan. I want it to be gender neutral with fun colors. I love the idea of accents in orange and yellow with a woodland theme with foxes like this one. If we have a girl, maybe summer coral accents, too.

I have some old furniture (mostly bookshelf types pieces) that I'm planning on sanding down and either refinishing with a dark stain or paint gray. Not sure yet. And I think I'm going to do a general color scheme of gray and seafoam green for either sex. I have a general idea of how I'm going to set up the room furniture wise but none of the little details have come together in my mind yet. I've been putting off pinterest and really diving into ideas until I'm out of the first tri.

My brain is going in so many directions regarding the nursery right now! I'm going to have to wait until I know the sex so I can at least narrow down my ideas. I'm leaning towards deer or a geometric-camping theme right now.

I did grey/white for DD in our old house and in the new house. It's a work in progress... For kid #2, I'm over gray. I'll be sticking with a beige/cream palette with a rustic feel. Possibly with some vintage pieces, provided I can find anything that isn't crazy expensive.

I attached DDs rooms and a general inspiration room. So far, I can't even pick a paint color. So, we'll see. One things for sure, I'm painting the ugly crib white. I've always hated that thing.

DS has a vintage baseball theme room. If this one is a boy DH has already called cowboy theme. If a girl, I choose, and I think I wanna do gray and pink. The room situation is one of the only things pushing me to find out the sex of the baby....

I'm really liking a whale theme for a boy. The room is grey with white trim. I'm going to add in teal and dark blues. If its a girl I'm thinking purple and teal.

If we find out we're having a boy, I want to surprise my husband with this bedding set. He loves dinosaurs but I love the babiness of this.

ETA: After 5 yrs of infertility, I think I've pinned every baby item on Pinterest!

DS has a fish theme in his room and we might just get him new "big boy" stuff and reuse the fish stuff for baby #2. The colors are a little more boyish but mostly nutral. The other option is to pick up some new curtains, crib skirt, sheets, rug, and wall prints that would go with the already light blue walls and pale green glider chair. Maybe birds/clouds/bees/flowering trees if it's a girl. I like the cutesy kiddy themes more than the modern more adult patterns - they are only so little for a short time, when else can I go nuts with themed stuff?

Poor little baby has to share a room with big brother so I don't get to plan a nursery this time. His room is aqua blue and orange so we will stick with that theme..

Our second bedroom is already a gray guest room with futon. We want to keep it gender neutral, as we'd love to have a second baby right away, keeping them close in age, and regardless of sex, the two would be sharing for at least a year or two until we are ready to move.I love vintage stuff and safari animals, but also like glam, especially for baby girl. So I might throw my whole gender neutral thing out off the window!

Ideally, I'd like to keep the curtains, rug, and furniture we buy gender neutral and not too babyish, since it will still be guest room. Everything else is still to be decided!

Thi is the first time not planning a mutes wry because I'm not sure where baby will sleep at first, lol. My other two kids have used the smallest bedroom, but with just 3 bedrooms I either have to move dd into ds's room and the baby sleep in her old room, or have the baby stay with us till it's sleeping through the night and switch it to sharing a room after that. I have no idea what I'll do at this point.

We're major hikers so our hiker baby room will have all the colors and creatures that would be seen on a typical hike in our area. Fox, buffalo, chipmunk, rabbits, etc..

My husband & I LOVE to travel so we figured we'd share that with our little one... afterall, he/she will be "Our Greatest Adventure"! There are so many beautiful gender neutral travel nursery ideas out there that it's hard to narrow down all the things we like. Here's a really cute one! We would just do a darker colored wood since the rest of our furniture is dark. We're waiting until at least January to really start preparing the room. I want to get out of this first trimester & the holidays.

If baby is a boy we'll do airplanes. I love light/lime green for either gender. Navy blue over baby blue all the way. For a girl I'm totally having trouble deciding! I love grey and white but want to do my lime green too. The only theme so far I've liked is Minnie Mouse, but Minnie stuff is so pink, so I don't know that'll match the green and white colors. Lots to decide!

We will more than likely go with turquoise blue walls or a soft lime green walls. My daughter's room is these colors and we decided they were gender neutral and a lot would go with them. The bathroom the two will share is turquoise with zoo animal decor. The nursery furniture is dark so I like brighter colors with it. If a boy it will probably be tractors &fire trucks (we live on a farm & my dad is a retired firefighter). If a girl, I have no clue... butterflies, ladybugs, I don't know.

I have pinned TONS of nursery ideas on Pinterest, but I can not narrow down all of the cute ideas. The room I think we have decided will be the baby's room is big (but still one of the smaller rooms in the house); I'm worried about it looking empty even when it is fully furnished. DH is a pilot so I love the idea of airplanes/ old world travel though.

I once saw a cute baby zoo animal blanket that made me say, "Let's have our first baby!" I got pregnant the next week, and made that the baby's bedding. For my second and third, I did a Pottery Barn Peter Rabbit theme (reused it for the third). It was fun because I went antiquing a lot to find Peter Rabbit accent pieces. It cost so much, that I was glad to get two uses out of it. I might even use it again for this baby!

We are team green and are going with a travel themed idea. I made this little inspiration page to help with the decorating. So far my mom has bought us the PB Kendall Crib and painting will begin after thanksgiving!

Soooo, I don't know if this is going to sound weird, but I am thinking about NOT doing a nursery for awhile. Like as in, have the baby, keep a bassinet by my bed, and months down the road put together a nursery. First of all, we don't have a lot of room in the house. My husband's office is where the baby room will be, but once we move it the office will be in the spare bedroom, which is fine, it will just be crowded. We still want a place for any family/friends who come to see us to crash. And we both use the home office for work. So we plan on keeping the spare bedroom and it would be nice to keep the office where it is for awhile.

I'm not sure if I see the point in putting together a room that the baby isn't going to use for awhile any way. That also saves us some money now (for furniture) that I can budget for a spread out over more months. We are also not finding out gender, so I thought it would be more fun to wait until the baby is home to pick out the stuff we want and make the room fit our kid more.

Thoughts?

I have bunches of ideas and would like the same crib (attached) regardless if we're having a boy or girl. The only other pieces of furniture we'll need are a dresser and a glider...

[speaking of gliders-- I found a double one at pottery barn that looks awesome! I'm hoping to see if a store nearby has one on the floor to sit in and try out!]

All accessories and decor will come as I find things I like. I'm not so much into really girly things, so even if we are having a girl, the nursery will more than likely be pretty neutral. Here are a few inspirations I've pinned.

I've been pinning ideas for a while! We will do a light grey on the walls and then decorate further when we find out gender. Mary Poppins theme for a girl or Where the Wild Things Are if it's a boy. Mary Poppins was my Disney princess growing up

@maryworley1 I don't think that sounds weird. For me, putting the nursery together was a nice way of bonding with the baby before she showed up, but if it makes more sense to hold off, I say go for it. We actually ended up moving our daughter to another bedroom about a year ago just because it turned out to be a better place for her, so that's some work we could have saved ourselves if we'd waited. (On the other hand, it was a chance for me to refresh her space -- went from gray walls with gray/white/yellow accents to turquoise walls with the same furniture and accents -- I love it.)

DD was in her own room from day one, too. But, I'd say do whatever works for you. That's basically been our mantra.

@maryworley1 go for it. most new parents I know essentially just use the nursery for storage. I didn't set up my daughter's room until literally last month (she's 19 months) because we just didn't have space or time to get the reno's done that we wanted before she came. now she's old enough to play in there independently and it's great!

I have a few ideas on Pinterest, but can't decide. Thankfully I have some time!

we are moving soon and buying our first home together so I don't even know what the nursery will look like. One idea I'm excited to try is this changing table! I like that it has storage and can be closed up.

Not weird at all. We didn't use DS's nursery at all until he was 4 months old. He slept in a pack-n-play in our room, the glider was in our room too, and the changing pad was on our dresser. We had set up the room ahead of time because it was completely unused anyway, we had a hand-me-down crib that had to go somewhere, and MIL bought us a dresser which also had to go somewhere. This time, we have to move the crib out of DS's room at some point preferably sooner rather than later since he hasn't been using it for a couple months already and we got a second dresser cheap second hand and I don't want it sitting in the garage for a whole year. I also home getting the room ready might help DS understand that a baby is coming and be more prepared. If it wasn't for all of that, we'd probably keep the guest room as is until a couple months after baby is born.

I am HUGE ocean person. So if it's a boy it will be a nautical/whale vintage theme and If it's a girl it will be a mermaid theme :-)

My first thoughts atleast :-) Pinterest has some absolutely beautiful ideas!

Did this work well for you guys? I plan on doing that with this baby because our nursery is adjoined to our room and we don't have much space for a bassinet in our room.
