@Motiejmr perhaps you feel differently, and that's your perogative, but if the child I'm carrying has a penis but decides at age 10 or 11 or whenever that he is really a she, I will use feminine pronouns, support her new name, take her shopping, and get her nails done. She may not be able to have the surgery until 18, but I'll be damned if MY child is allowed to be marginalized because the genetalia don't match the mind. And I would go out of my way to fuck up anyone who made my child feel small because he is really she. Trans people are trans their whole lives; it's not a choice. Every man I've ever met has been pretty goddamn attached to his balls; willingness to undergo reassignment surgery tells me that this was a decision not taken lightly and certainly not made spur-of-the-moment. If Caitlyn truly is a woman, she has been a woman her whole life; the only exception to this that I know of would be gender fluidity, but I've never known a gender-fluid person to undergo the hormonal or surgical treatments trans people go through.
Magazines care about their ratings. They are not going to choose a woman nobody has heard of as woman of the year because she deserves it. Nobody will buy the magazine. Caitlin Jenner is controversy. People will buy that.
Remember when time magazine appointed Yasser Arafat as person of the year? Same thing.

@AmadorRose Which I'm pretty sure she has not been a women her entire life, you see when you publicly advertise your entire life on television (kuwtk) We can put you under a microscope and see that nope this person was a man and all of a sudden said hey now I'm a women. I think it's all a bunch of BS and I truly believe that he/she should not be women of the year for this reason. I don't believe whoever this person Caitlyn is will completely transition. I don't think Bruce or Caitlyn Jenner knows who He/she is.
@NachosAndPeaches if you look at my prior post I said it was a bad example saying you have to bear a kid to be a women. I was more focusing on the fact that this person has done nothing but become a women only months ago and gets such a title which if you ask me others nominated are way more deserving of.
@Motiejmr I don't think it's my place to judge whatever it is that she is going through. If she transitions, great. If not, that's great too. Not my penis, not my problem. The problem is the generalization of all trans people and what does or doesn't make a woman.
@NachosAndPeaches that is exactly why I don't keep up with pop culture.

Fun fact Reese Witherspoon was amongst those nominated who had done WAY More this year to contribute to society by running several different charities. She is more than glamorous in my opinion.
I've been eyeing the Caitlyn Jenner transition warily since she came out. Having been in those shoes, and opting not to go through with it because I'm more fluid than set one way or another, I can relate to her being considered brave. While I find that her coming out, and partially transitioning (because, she still hasn't gone through with a full transition) is incredibly brave, and is opening a lot of doors for conversations about what the trans community goes through, I feel it's still being made a mockery of and causing more hate to be ignited. Any time a serious issue becomes entertainment, it's a mockery imho.
Now as far as her winning woman of the year? I was completely outraged. It should have gone to one of the women who are the first Army Rangers, or Misty Copeland who is the first African American woman to achieve the rank of Principal with the American Ballet Theater. Those are true representations of achieving something great as a woman, not transitioning, making a mockery of it, and later complaining that being a woman isntnwhat she thought it would be, and considering transitioning back.

Which is where I guess I am misunderstood, I will not believe in Caitlyn Jenner becoming a women until she completely transitions. I feel like the Kardashian family has so much money and no real problems, that they use their money to create this type of controversy which is why it sickens me that this person won women of the year over those way more deserving.
@Motiejmr Well I appreciate your opinion on the matter, but frankly it isn't up to anyone to decide if Caitlyn is a man or a woman it this point but her, and the government. Now if the Kardasian clan didn't exist we would have no one to pay attention to that doesn't matter, and we'd be forced to care about grown up things, like politics! /shudder

I seriously doubt that anyone would willingly go through such a life changing process simply for the purpose of gaining attention. I've never really watched the Kardashian show, doesn't really interest me the slightest, but it's disrespectful of you to doubt her sexual identity simply because you hate the Kardashians and believe they would do anything for fame. Doing publicity stunts is one thing, changing your sexual identity is a whole lot different. Should the woman of the year have gone to someone else? Yes. But that does not make Caitlynn less of a woman (even without having completely transitioned). Like PP mentioned, she may not have had the same struggle as other transsexuals but I don't think her being famous and rich made it an easy process. It was still a hard decision to stand out and be honest about it and she's trying to do what she can to bring attention to the cause in which she succeeded. So relax.
@Motiejmr ...just wow. You do know that these celebrities are real humans with real lives, how they choose to make a living is their prerogative. To suggest that her transition is a publicity "stunt" - are you shitting me? It's hard enough to share your story with your family - but due to her celebrity she would be sharing with the entire world regardless. Have you read any factual information about gender issues, suicide rates among the LGBTQ community, etc? Caitlyn Jenner's decision to address her life publicly is saving lives of transgendered youth and adults across the world - it's honorable, graceful, and honest. If you are given that platform and choose to use it to make a meaningful difference in the world - what is wrong with that?
"Awards" like the aforementioned are supposed to honor and empower women, not to pit them against one another like you're suggesting people do apparently. I don't necessarily think she is the/there should be any one "woman of the year," but she IS a woman who has made a significant positive impact on the world this year.
Oh, and FWIW - the only persons genitals that you are allowed to have an opinion on is your own.

And now she is saying that becoming a women is more stressful than what she thought and wants to go back to being a man bc at her age she doesn't want to learn a new way of life. As soon as ratings dropped on her show, her being Caitlyn is suddenly a "phase". Really?
Oh, and FWIW - the only persons genitals that you are allowed to have an opinion on is your own.
I want a say in DH's genitals if he decides he wants it pierced. Prince Albert doesn't do it for me
ETA: men can't have sex for something like 6 months after getting that piercing due to risk of infection, so I think I'd say go for it as long as he's taking care of me while he heals. Yay compromise!
Y'all know that Caitlyn Jenner wasn't the only "winner," right? She was one of several women honored in different fields, including Misty Copeland, Reese Witherspoon, Victoria Beckham, the US Women's soccer team, Cecile Richards, Elizabeth Holmes, and several survivors/relatives of victims from the Charleston shooting. All were honored in different categories; Caitlyn Jenner was honored as "Transgender Champion." she was not honored over and above the other nominees, though she's been talked about the most (probably because she's been in the news most this year). Talking about how Person X or Y should be honored above Caitlyn Jenner is like complaining that Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress but Leonardo DiCaprio is a way better actor than she is. Different categories, yo; let's compare apples to apples.
If you want to talk about people who are more deserving, perhaps you should focus on women who have helped trans women make progress, since that's the category in which the target of your spite was nominated. If you can't, or are unwilling, perhaps your issue isn't with Caitlyn Jenner, but with trans women generally, which... isn't something I'd brag about.

Thank you! I don't think people are realizing the impact she is having on so many people, young and old. She's using her fame to give this issue publicity. Could you imagine being born in the wrong body? Like you are exactly 100% who you are but when you look down, you have a penis? That's what transgender people deal with on a daily basis. Having the public aware that they are real people and not just an extended cross dresser is huge. It's giving people the courage to be okay with who they are, it's giving people the courage to make that step and pursue transition. I don't watch the kardashians or Caitlyn's show but I did watch OITNB and I think Sophia's character was so eye opening. While I know that close minded, bigoted people, or people such as extreme right wing Christians may not ever accept this lifestyle, I believe the media's attention to transgender men and women has let open minded people be aware of what trans is and be open to it. I'm by no means an expert but I'm glad I have been enlightened. I remember several years ago I went to an event and there was a man dressed as a woman with a wig etc. I definitely made fun of him in my head and was super confused. I just saw him at a farmers market on Saturday and finally felt like I wasn't judging, that's just who he is! (I am not sure what pronouns he -or she - goes by, so I just used male ones to clarify the story).
Edited for clarification!! I don't think all Christians are bigoted at all and when I re read it sounded like that. Whoops!!!!!!

@AGK2015 because that's what I've been arguing is that I have a problem with transgendered? Not quite.
And no I was not aware there were several category winners since the only one I see in my newsfeed is Caitlyn Jenner.
As I said my problem is that she is wishy washy about her decision so I am not going to support giving her an award in any category. She wants to go back to being a man bc being a women isn't what she thought it would be. I don't trust her.. Everything she is doing is for publicity. My opinion period.

That's good to know. I don't follow this stuff so when I read above that she was THE woman of the year, I was upset (not because of her gender choice, but because of so many other more deserving women who actually make a difference without cashing in).

If you want to sound more open minded of transgendered, the first step is calling them by the pronoun they identify with. Why do you thin us crazies on the bump chastise anybody for finding out "gender" instead of "sex"? Gender is how you identify, sex is what your organs are. It just so happens that for most people, sex and gender align. For those that they do not, it's the respectful thing to do to use the pronoun they identify as, if they choose to transition (fully or partially etc, if they feel they are A and not B and want to be called A, even if they can never afford to change genitalia from b to a, they should be referred to as A).

@NachosAndPeaches so if they are a and want to be b.. But now Are coming out and saying becoming b wasn't the right decision and wants to become a again.. Then what?

Well then you are quite wishy washy, lol. I don't watch the show or follow celebrity news so I am not really sure what the story is, therefore don't have an opinion. I didn't know she was now back to he? Are you sure that's an accurate source?

@NachosAndPeaches Who knows? But it has been a story run in all sorts of media outlets which is why I question the entire thing to begin with.
Yeah well then I have no idea! I guess if wait for an article to come out form the source. For the sake of transgendered people everywhere, or anybody struggling with identify, I hope this is a nasty rumor and she is not transitioning back to Bruce. I'm completely guessing but maybe she just has decided to keep her penis but continue with hormones etc? Just not undergo major surgery? I have no idea.

@NachosAndPeaches so if they are a and want to be b.. But now Are coming out and saying becoming b wasn't the right decision and wants to become a again.. Then what?
Then you go back to referring to them as A. It's pretty simple, common courtesy. When my friend Michael wanted to be called Mikey, we called him Mikey. When he changed his mind and asked us to call him Michael again, we called him Michael. When my friend get married and change their last names, I use their new names instead of their old ones (and their preferred title, be it Mrs. or Ms). If they divorce and take their old name back, I use their old name. If I'm not sure what someone wants to be called, I ask. Digging my heels in and insisting that I shouldn't change would be ridiculous in those cases. It's exactly the same concept, and continuing to call Caitlyn "Bruce" and to refer to her with male pronouns is equally rude.
Of course, "changing back" doesn't really seem to be a concern here, given that Caitlyn Jenner, to my knowledge, has made no such requests.
@NachosAndPeaches so if they are a and want to be b.. But now Are coming out and saying becoming b wasn't the right decision and wants to become a again.. Then what?
Quite a lot of transgender people do end up regretting their decision. It's not new or unheard of. A complete transition is scary and I can't blame anyone for waiting until they're absolutely sure it's for them.

These are samples; I bought two samples of each pattern so I could put them together and see how easy it is to match the patterns, etc.
The actual tempaper comes in rolls, once you get the rolls you have to measure the height of your wall and cut out strips from the roll so you can apply each strip from top to bottom. You can use this to calculate how many rolls you need: https://www.tempaperdesigns.com/wallpaper-calculator I estimated that I will need a little less than 2 rolls for my main nursery wall.
Honest question though, what makes someone a woman then if it's not having two X chromosomes? I totally don't understand how you can define being a woman as different than biological sex without using a stereotype. Do I feel like a woman? Umm I don't think so? That's why I do not believe in gender at all. It makes no logical sense.
On a lighter note, anyone know where I can register for this literary treasure?
Amazon. If you get the audio book Samuel L. Jackson narrates it.
I can't get over how incredible this would be; if I ever win the lottery, this is how I will invest my money. I will also hire a PI, show up on your doorstep, and invite myself in for a drink and to give you the original recording.

Maybe in a future generation everyone will be as advanced as you but currently there are gender distinctions. I definitely feel like a woman.

Maybe thats an unlabeled use for a flour sifter?? I dont have one so i have no idea if it would work

Yeah I could look at my flour sifter. I would worry though that the quinoa would get stuck in the sides of it or something and make it gross but it is an idea!
