Ughhhhh I just found out my short-term disability insurance through work really only pays for 5 weeks for a normal delivery instead of 6, which means I'll have an entire month unpaid unless I take off almost no time at Christmas
I'm trying so hard to rack up my paid time off for April. But I need a mini vacation right now. I feel like I am over exerting myself, I just want to rest.
The other day my asst asked me when I was going to take maternity leave. I said April. He was like, "you're working your entire pregnancy!?" Ummm yeah. That's what you have to do when you get a measly 6 weeks off. -.-
Wait! Total random... Are those emojis! We can post emojis now!? I tried to when I first joined and it didn't work. I'm going to try this. And if it doesn't work I'll edit it to a kick ass baby gif
@kalanieileen no kidding about the maternity leave/pto issues. My work decided to cut down our max amount of pto we can accrue from 200 hours down to 140 hours, and to top that off, if I have even slightly over 140 hours by January first they will cash out my pto to bring me down to 100 hours! I'm so mad I could spit! And working part time it takes me forever to build it back up.
Yeah, my max accrual is 120 hours. So I can't even accrue more than 3 weeks of vacation to take off in April.
@kalanieileen you can do emojis but I've only ever gotten it to work on a computer, not on mobile. And it's not the same emojis that show up on your phone menu - it's a special bump menu. (Lame.) Also, 6 weeks off? Suck. That's terrible!
On mobile for me there has always been a little "emoji" box at the top right of the text box that shows the ones on the Bump. Now that's gone and I don't even have the option to add a photo anywhere?
@AmadorRose I went to New Orleans this past January for a half marathon. Beautiful city! Unfortunately we didn't do a whole lot tourist wise because I had to be rested for that, but we ate at Cafe Du Monde, went through the cathedral on Jackson Square (for someone who's not religious, I have a weird thing about churches I didn't want to leave) Spent a lot of time on Bourbon Street, which resulted in me getting shitfaced before noon (I'm only 26 and still had the I'm way too old for this crap experience) We had a mule drawn carriage ride around the historic area, and we got our palms read. I did see my first basketball game that weekend as well, which was fun, even though it was the same night as my run, and I was soooo uncomfortable the entire game. Went to coyote ugly too, because I'm a fan girl (was pretty disappointing tbh) You HAVE to get PJ's coffee though! Are you staying in the historic area, or outside of it? I ask because walking around was all within like a five block radius from where we stayed. Apparently our hotel was haunted too lol
@Knottie9983816 thanks! I'm going to try to get a place within the historical district to cut down a bit on walking. I grew up Catholic so I too have an odd fascination with big churches, as long as mass isn't in session What hotel did you stay at? DH has a mild obsession with all things haunted and he would be SO excited to stay at a "haunted" place!
18 weeks- anyone else think that is a particularly ugly sweet potato? Very much looking forward to graduating to mango.
We refer to fetus as bean, partially as a poke at DH's heritage. This week, we refer to baby as sweet beanato and last week was beanocado. Much more fun, IMO.
Also, @thaisac1 have you found out where the non-Hoosiers can see your talk? I would YouTube it but I don't know what to search

My first pregnancy (mmc) the fetus was baby nacho. Neither of us is Hispanic. Hahahaha.
First BFP 12/2012, MMC at 9 weeks
Second BFP 6/2013, resulted in DS, born 2/23/14 :-)
Third BFP 5/2015, natural MC at 6 weeks
Fourth BFP 8/2015, hoping for sticky little brother or sister to H!
Proud SAHM to our little monkey H.
Pro Vax, extended breasftfeeder, ring sling and stroller loving mama. I don't judge you unless you don't vaccinate!

I have a meme for this, and if it doesn't work I may cry:
I rocked my wool dress and pregnancy leggings today which gave me a pretty obvious bump and I flaunted it with no shame, and for the first time people actually offered me their seats and let me go first in the elevator and all that. I was pretty happy.

Yes, it was a short segment. They took a grand total of 10 sec from my 10 min interview... And the way they portrayed the study's results was not fully explanatory. Oh well, it's the media! I'll PM you.
I actually received another interview request today for TV, and another one for Costco magazine.
Possibly finding out the sex today! If the babe cooperates, shall I make a gender reveal post? Or maybe a new thread on the sex of my babe? Or maybe ill post a pic of the ultrasound and have you mommies guess what I'm having

Why is Caitlyn Jenner women of the year? I would like to see her/him bear a child. Such a disgrace to REAL women heroes/moms/hard workers.
Is this true? She is woman of the year? On what basis? What has she done for humanity this year to deserve that title? Did they forget to look into lawyers/ philanthropists / doctors / nurses/ politicians (...) before choosing the woman of the year?!?!
UPDATE: didn't find out the sex today, we are going to wait for anatomy scan. I'll be 19 weeks by then. But heartbeat is 150, baby looks healthy, and the NTS came back with 0 red flags.

Thank you. This was going to be my UO. I do think that being completely public with the transition is brave, if her aim is to help transgender youth (disgustingly high suicide rates, anyone?) but I have a strong feeling it's just for press, in which case it's not brave, it's selfish. What about the women who broke the barrier on ranger school? What about the multitudes of females who are doing real shit because they care about others?
The best thing she has done, IMO, was the speech she gave at the ESPYs because that was epic.
@Motiejmr Probably because trans women are women, too, and Caitlyn Jenner's coming out about her transition lent visibility and credibility to a whole category of people who are often systematically discriminated against and who are targeted with extraordinary amounts hatred and violence. Also, because she's kind of fashionable and famous and it's GLAMOUR giving out that award, for god's sake. What do you expect? Are you similarly upset about Elizabeth Holmes getting the same award, ostensibly for "entrepreneurship," despite the controversy that's erupted over Theranos? Do you have a better suggestion for who Glamour should have chosen to honor as "Transgender Champion"?
And really, I know we're all having babies here, and that's cool and all, but could we NOT talk about bearing a child as the hallmark of "real" womanhood? There are plenty of real women who don't bear children, either because they can't, or because they choose not to. Would you be so quick to throw that line out on the TTGP board, given the number of women sincerely struggling with limited or no success? Then maybe it's not super appropriate elsewhere, either.
@Motiejmr I wouldn't go that far to say "real women" my brother is trans and identifies as a woman and I know if I were to throw "real woman" in his face, a lot of hurt would be caused.
But I would agree with @thaisac1 in saying that I don't believe Caitlin Jenner has done anything for the community or humanity. I find it shameful that society has easily accepted her transition because of her status, and other trans have never been accepted because they are a "nobody." It's not necessarily her fault that she hasn't gone through the struggles that other trans have gone through, but it is still a shame that she is given preferential treatment due to her status.
I also believe it will be hard for her to advocate for trans women BECAUSE she's never gone through the struggles they have.

Regardless of your feelings on Caitlyn Jenner, I really truly HATE this rationalization for what makes/doesn't make a woman. Especially on this forum - there are millions of women around the world who are not able to conceive or bear a child. A true measure of a woman is not tied to her reproductive capacities, please stop suggesting that! What about women who choose not to have children? Are they disgraceful? Do they lose their 'woman card' too?
Toeing a fine line there. Live and let live. Besides, it's by Glamour magazine, who honestly cares?

Becoming a woman is not a reason to be woman of the year. Thousands of ppl do that every year, and no one else takes home millions of dollars for making the transition part of a reality show. This makes me gag.

Agree with this. If it wasn't for modern medicine, I would not be able to bear a child... That doesn't make me less of a woman. (I'm not arguing with PP, just reinforcing the issue that pregnancy does not perfectly equate womanhood).
First of all she is not 100% transitioned so no in my opinion she is NOT a women. She has not been a women for a year, excuse my point that she has not beared children as making her a women. But rather look at my point of HEROES, HARD WORKERS. Why don't we do a little research and checkout women who would be better suited who have done much more for the world and humanity in general? Oh and don't forget the point that she just became a women a few months ago, so we can decide we are coming out as a women and suddenly be women of the year? Don't forget this person is closely related to the kardashians and could very well decide hey let's become a man tomorrow again, they are known for their stunts. Once she transitions 100% .. Spends a substantial amount of time as a women, Shows me a real reason why she should be women year besides coming out as a women, then I will respect, until then I will be a disgruntled military vet who can find plenty of women way more deserving.

I'm disgusted by your lack of acceptance of HER. Maybe SHE shouldn't be woman of the year, but she is still a she. And I DARE you to bring your child bearing point up to someone who does not ovulate or can't carry a child, and uses s gestational carrier or surrogate, or adopts. Being able to carry a baby and birth them is NOT what makes us women.
