Who else has been told (with any pregnancy) that their placenta has "old spots" and that it seems to be ageing a bit faster than it should? Did it mean anything? I know I shouldn't be concerned if my dr isn't, and I'm scheduled in 4 days to have a RCS so it doesn't mean much for me, but I'm more curious than anything and he doesn't really explain things well when I ask questions I just get more confused. So I would love to hear personal experiences with it of anyone has any
I'm 39 weeks and 5 days, I got my membranes stripped twice on tuesday. At that point I was 3 cm and 80% effaced. I lost my mucus plug the next day. Today (friday) I woke up with a headache, slightly nauseous, back pain, and just feeling different. Could labor be coming soon?
I have had all of these symptoms and the 2 sweeps as well for over a week now. I'm 3 days past due date. All good signs but how close labor actually is is anyone's guess!
So after that attempt at a nap (at least I did relax) I got checked again. I progressed a bit from 4 centimeters to at least 4.5 maybe 5. At the time my contractions were still closer together, about 3-6 minutes. So they got me set up in a labor room. I did stuff to relax and encourage further dilation.
At about 10:30 pm I asked to be checked again. Contractions have reduced to about 6 minutes apart and don't feel as strong. Cervix is about the same, 4-5. The midwife advised either to go home or to take an Ambien and sleep here. A little discouraged. I was so relieved when things picked up earlier. But I think I may have slowed down due to being tired and hungry. They advised that I eat a real meal, so I did that. Gonna sleep soon.could go home but it's an hour away and probably would increase hubby's anxiety (and he would increase mine) because then we would need to figure out when to return to the hospital!

I'm an hour from the hospital too and I've already decided once we go, we aren't coming back. I'll take pitocin to love things along if need be, but I'm not comfortable being that far away and not knowing when to return.
Ugh, as a FTM, I am so frustrated with not knowing what I'm feeling. I've had cramping and sharp/tightening pains in my abdomen that come and go for the past prob 15 hours. I couldn't really get any sleep last night and have gotten very little relief so far this morning. I'm 39 weeks today. I can't seem to get a handle on timing my pains, so I guess they aren't regular. I don't want to jump the gun, but I also just don't know how long to wait to get checked out.
So, the doctor on shift right now has made the decision that I am not leaving without baby out, since I am 42 weeks today. They had scheduled my induction for Monday due to not wanting me scheduled for the weekend when there is less staff. However, it is far from a full house so there is plenty of support. I'm ok with staying, actually a littlr relieved the decision was made for me. They will check me at 12 noon. If there has been no further dilation then we will likely break waters. Really hoping and praying that works. If not, then I guess a little Pitocin.
Not how I wanted things to happen, but oh well. I guess my body just needs a nudge.

meant to quote this... this is me too!
First time quoting so I hope I'm doing this right! My contractions were not regular! I would have maybe 3 back to back (3ish minutes apart and maybe 30sec-1min long) and then go 10min-15min without any. They were so intense that I just went to the hospital since I hadn't gotten any rest since 4am to about 11:30pm. I knew they were going to continue and I wouldn't have gotten any rest. I went in to get checked and was at a 4. Nurse thought I would be sent home since I was only 38weeks. Dr told them to keep me and 2 hours later I was dilated to 7-8. The nurse was surprised that I progressed so fast without regular contractions. Baby was born about 3 hours later! You never know! sorry for the super long response lol but as a FTM myself, I was really confused and didn't know what to do either! So point is, go with your gut feeling. If you think you need to go get checked, I would suggest go!
I'm 37w2d and am working on getting induced for preeclampsia. Been in the hospital for 36 hours: two doses of cervidil (made me soft and effaced but not dilated), am on pitocin and contracting and hoping the next exam reveals dilation. Doctors and nurses suggest it might take multiple days more, so I'm trying to relax and not think too much about anything.
Soooo.... I went to have my eyebrows threaded and as soon as I sat down in the chair, my water broke!!! And I mean GUSH, still gushing. I was afraid I wouldn't realize if my water broke but uh yeah there's no mistaking it.
Had to drive myself home and now we are on the way to L&D (that's why I have time to write this). I'm not having any contractions just yet, at least I think, but I'm starting to get crampy and have some back pain. FTM here, excited, scared, ahhhh!!!!! Wish me luck, I am 38w3d and the barometric pressure dropped so I have a feeling I'm not the only one today in my area... L&D is probably going to be crowded!!
Am I the only one that's doctor doesn't do internal exams ?
I'm 38+3 and haven't had an internal exam yet. They just check baby with the Doppler and do external position and size checks every week. NI think my midwife practice doesn't want to put too much focus on dilation/effacement since they don't induce before 42 weeks unless there's a medical reason. I thought it was a bit weird at first, but I don't mind not knowing because then I'm not frustrated because I've been at 2 cm for weeks (etc).
Am I the only one that's doctor doesn't do internal exams ?
My midwife doesn't either. I am just over 39 weeks. Not sure what will happen after 40 weeks but I have no idea how much I have progressed. All my midwife says is that baby's head is deep into my pelvis. It's frustrating but I guess baby will come when he wants!
Am I the only one that's doctor doesn't do internal exams ?
I didn't have any last time. Some Drs do and some don't. Since dilation and effacement doesn't do a great job of predicting when labor will start a lot of practices have a "keep hands out of there" mentality which I am very okay with.
I'm just simply frustrated at this point! All kinds of symptoms that things are progressing ( lost mucus plug, lightning crotch, BH contractions,2 cms dilated) but knowing that this still gives me no real timeline I'm just hanging out here at 40w 4d super sore and tired! My pelvic bone feels like its gonna split in half! I'll be induced at 41w 3d if baby doesn't come, which isn't until next Fridayyyyy. Ugh rant done:)

Thanks! I ended up going to the hospital around 1:30 after the contractions became more frequent and intense. Unfortunately, I was still at a 1. They hooked me up to monitor and had me stay for an hour, checked me again w no change, and sent me home. They did give me morphine and phenergan before leaving, so I was able to get relief from the pain, and I slept (finally!) for about two and a half hours. The good news is...I'm not crazy! I was definitely having contractions; the nurse said they were coming every two to six minutes and lasting one and a half to two minutes, which wasn't allowing for much down time between. So frustrating that they were to no avail. Meds are starting to wear off, so this evening should be interesting. I've been told to wait it out for now, and I have my next doc appt on Monday afternoon, so I'll know more by then if still no baby. Good luck everyone!
Oh, I had also had no hospital tour yet, so MH and I didn't know exactly where to go and what to do. Going today made me feel better about going again and knowing what to expect, esp if we have to return in the dark!

Update... I started having contractions about an hour after my water broke. They went from menstrual like cramps to severe pain very quickly and not gonna lie it wasn't pleasant. My nurse was awesome though, got the liter of fluid in me and had my CBC done, so I was able to have the epidural. My legs and bum are totally numb and I am loving life now, thank god for modern medicine. I have continued to gush fluid the entire time so that's been pleasant... not! When I first came in I was 2cm, now I'm 4cm dilated, 100% effaced and 0 to -1 on the head position. Contractions are 1-2 mins apart. Doc says baby boy should be here by midnight! So excited! Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday... I am now that I'm numb from the waist down, haha!

My practice is this way too - unless they have reason to, they don't do internal checks until the due date, and they're willing to go to 42 weeks before an induction. (That last part makes me a little nervous because I've heard some scary stories of waiting all the way to 42, but I'm only 37w1 right now so I don't have to cross that bridge yet.)
Good luck and all my best to those who are in labor or close to it!!!
40 weeks today and nothing happening over here. Zip, zero, zilch and I'm actually okay with it. I'm excited to meet our child and everything, I'm just not physically terribly uncomfortable like I've been with past pregnancies. (I'm even sleeping pretty well considering!) And I'm thinking Babe is just as comfortable! Good luck everyone!
I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and the last few days I've been terribly uncomfortable. I get shooting pains through my vagina regularly and the whole right side of my groin has been hurting like I pulled several muscles for over a week! OB says it's because she's dropped and it just chillin on lots of nerves down below. I'm done with being pregnant lol, I'm ready to meet her and counting down the days. I didn't know the discomfort people talked about in the third tri would be so painful! On the bright side I'm sleeping well (thanks to my pregnancy pillow) and am napping daily
I'm 38 + 5 today and my mood has just turned really low. I don't know why. I just feel so down and lethargic. Just sitting around the house, moping around,no appetite or desire to do anything. Not sure why I have suddenly developed this as I have been fine up until now. Also feel really quite ill, a little light headed and nauseous throughout the day.

Anyone else experience this close to due date?

This is me. My pregnancy has been a breeze and my mood has been great. The last week I've been so irratable and tired. I even know that I have no reason to be. It's definitely on a hormonal level because mentally I'm not bothered by anything. Hoping it's a sign my body is preparing. I'm 38+3

Yes that's me - same depressed and ready to be done and meanwhile after having full on contractions I'm back to where I was a couple weeks ago with absolutely no labour symptoms....
