Re: **Weekly Symtoms (11/2-11/8)**

  • Thanks again everyone for all your support. I went in for the ultrasound and it was quick. I could tell it was not good, the sac looked empty. Then I met with the doctor and he confirmed blighted ovum. I guess this was not my time. I am going to try and let it pass naturally but if it doesn't I will do a D&C before thanksgiving week. Thanks again and I wish you all a happy and healthy 9 months.

    Married in 2011
Baby 1: Stillborn at 27 weeks (April 2014)
    Baby 2: Due May 2016

  • Progress (week/day): 11w2d by LMP; 9w6d by measurement (going back to the dr the week, and hoping the little babe is measuring bigger)

Symptoms: nausea but no throwing up, exhaustion, weird shooting pains in my butt cheek

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Rant: I REALLY want a salted caramel mocha from Starbucks. It's my absolute favorite drink from there.

Rave: We're finally spilling the beans to our friends/family this week, and it feels great to not be keeping a secret.

Questions: I don't like vegetables. The only ones I'll eat are corn and peppers (and DH hates peppers, so I rarely cook with them)... So, does anyone have any advice to make yourself like vegetables?

  • @bshurdy I have a few suggestions for making yourself like vegetables.

    1) Mix veggies you normally don't like with ones you do. Ex: If you like corn, mix it with carrots and green beans, or pan toss peppers you like with peas and onions, etc.
    2) Try different preparations. Some veggies taste sour if they're overcooked, but are awesome roasted (ex: brussel sprouts). Play around with spices/herbs, oils/vinegar, honey, or sauces.
    3) There are also ways to sneak/add vegetables into recipes-- like putting spinach or zucchini in lasagna (be sure the sauce is on the thicker side though because vegetables increase the water content of the dish) or adding chopped up broccoli to mac and cheese. Some vegetables can be ground/mashed to similar consistencies as other ones and have flavors that fall to the background-- like mixing cauliflower with potatoes for mashed potatoes.
