I've noticed a lot of posts recently asking where everyone is from. We might have done this awhile ago but now that we have a full board, I thought we could ask again.
So...
Where are you from?
What is your favorite thing about your city/state?
Where are you from? I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah.
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? We are so blessed to have the most beautiful mountains ever!! I love to be able to hike. camp and sit by a warm fire. Not only that, we have the best red rock!! Moab is one of the coolest places in Utah.
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? While I hate driving in the snow, I love that we have all four seasons. I love our lakes and our scenery. I also love how everyone here embraces and encourages being outdoors. We're pretty laid back up here too which is awesome.
What is you favorite thing about your city/state? The people. They are the best and worst thing about our community. Everyone knows everybody and thier parents and grandparents. So no secrets in the community but in the same token there isn't one neighbor I couldn't ask for help.
I'm from Minnesota. I love how everyone is genuine (although stoic), and we live in a safe city in a safe neghborhood. I also love all four seasons....just not the -40 temps!
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? I love that we live in a part of the state where we DO have all four seasons (even if they are short lived) and my area is pretty rural, so being able to walk outside and see the stars on any given night is a pretty big plus for me.
Where are you from? I'm from Illinois but I've lived in Texas for 10 years.
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? I love that we get so many sunny days. I don't miss the long dreary winters in Illinois. I do miss the fall and the beauty of the first couple of snowfalls (not the rest of them lol).
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? We're within the DC metro system so we have great access to tons of free museums and all the other good stuff in DC.
Grew up in the Boston area, but have moved around the southern part of the country the last few years because of hubs, now in TN!
The south was a culture shock at first but there's so much to love. I thighs i would never want to move back home, so done with those winters, but I've gotten the bug, missing my family, friends etc. my favorite thing about TN: people are as nice as they say, I love that, I think I've become nicer, people also say hello to strangers, that doesn't happen in Boston:) I miss the no BS from people back home, what you see is what you get...usually, and the four seasons.
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? I love that we have the mountains and the beach within a day's drive, and mild winters I also love the (generally) slower pace of life and Southern hospitality.
Where are you from? Originally from Cleveland, moved to AZ after college, and am now just outside of Northern VA
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? I loved Ohio's snarky people and Arizona's mountains for outdoorsy things. While I've only been in VA for about a year, I love the wine (seriously missing it right now...) and the weather!
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? Since I have no state I'll go with province and country. Ontario is pretty varied, which I think it cool. There are lots of small towns and we've got a couple of big cities like Ottawa and Toronto. Winters in my city suck, but I think they suck anywhere, hahaha. I think Canada is awesome because people are (generally) very nice, there isn't a ton of crime and I don't feel scared to go just about anywhere in my city, our money is different colours so I can tell how much money I have just by a quick glance in my wallet (I don't know how Americans tell the difference in their bills. I'd have to take them all out and check all the time! haha), and after hearing stories on these boards I am very thankful for our health care and maternity leave.
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? I love that we get to experience all 4 seasons, though sometimes winter overstays its welcome. I love that I can experience a bit of everything without having to travel too far...country life, the big city, suburbia. It's very multicultural & accepting, which is great. And I have to reiterate what @candicek15 said...I love our health care system and maternity leave.
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? I grew up in a small town on the beach and now live in a suburb of Seattle which has a smallish feel. I love being close to mountains and the water. There are so many fun things to do - camping, skiing, kayaking, hiking... I work in the city so I get the best of both worlds. Mostly, I just think this is one of the prettiest areas in the country (even with the rain and cloudy days)! And I love the Seahawks!
What is your favorite thing about your city/state? We have a lot of stuff to do (including 2 amusement parks) and a ton of sports teams which DH and I love. Speaking of, tonight the 2 Ohio football teams play each other...Go Bengals, Who Dey!!
Favorite thing about city/state: I love having all four seasons. I grew up in florida so it's still new to me. My town has a lake with canoe/paddleboard rentals in the summer and ice fishing and ice skating in the winter, so there's lots for the whole family to do. I'm only 45 minutes from downtown denver and about an hour to the ski resorts. Best of both worlds.
I HATE cold weather so obviously I LOVE the weather here! It's 66 right now and I don't know what to do with myself. I can't wait for all your bitchfests this winter about not being able to reach your snow boots with your baby bump in the way. While I'm over here slipping on my flip-flops.
Although I didn't grow up here, I've been here my entire adult life. I like bring outside a major city (Washington, DC), because there is always something to do. I love taking visitors to all the tourist attractions. Otherwise, I'd never see them.
I love the room to breathe We live in a small town and I commute about 20min drive to work. We live in the middle of 25acres of pasture with old trees, ponds, horses, cows and blackberry bushes.

What is your favorite thing about your city/state? I can walk to the beach from my house, or get in the car and be in NYC in an hour. We have all 4 seasons (though winter is the worst!) but spring/summer/early Fall at the shore is just THE BEST its like being on vacation, we can go boating, to the beach, eat the freshest seafood, see fireworks weekly, etc. I just love it.
I'm originally from Connecticut. I've been in North East Pennsylvania for about 4 years now. (My SO is from Trinidad.. trying to convince him that we should move there after the baby is born lol)
I miss living on the coast in Connecticut. I'm so jealous of you fresh seafood folks. I live in the mountains. It is beautiful here. I could do without winter. Hence me trying to move to Trinidad lol. But it is beautiful here in the winter. I understand all of the sentiments of you other mountain ladies. The fresh air is always nice and needed.
I love being so close to a world class city. The art, museums, sports, restaurants, and culture are amazing. But I also love the balance that my suburban area is on the edge of the country. It's quiet, beautiful, and we have a beautiful property where we garden and have room to run.
My favorite things is when I go grocery shopping it's like happy hour and there is 360 days of sunshine here no joke which is awesome ! And so many activities to do outside which is where o spend most of my time
I love our lack of winters although I do miss the changing of the seasons when it comes to the colors and smells.
I'm not a fan of cold... I remember growing up in Missouri and the worst thing was getting out of a shower in the morning and being FREEZING drying off and getting ready for the day.
We live in a rural area and I love all of the wide open spaces. I also love how friendly all of the people in our area are. Most native Texans would literally give the shirt off their back to a perfect stranger.
ETA: our state fair is also thebomb.com in all of its deep fried glory.
January Siggy Challenge: Why I don't shop at Walmart
I love summer and fall in Minnesota. I wish they would repeat over and over. I dislike winter. A lot. And spring is just yuck. Without winter... It would be the best place in the world. :-)
