I told DH before we got married that I wanted to incorporate my mom's maiden name and my maiden name in our children's names and he could come up with the other part. So, here's what we have:
boy - Liam Wilson (DH picked out Liam, Wilson is my maiden name)
girl - Finnley something (Finn is my mom's maiden name and I'm still waiting to hear from DH on the middle name. I told him I'd like it if he picked out a Norwegian name as he is half Norwegian
It's funny because ever since I was younger and thought of names for future children, I was dead set on Nathan Mikial and Guinivere Elizabeth for names. I still do like those names but I love having my family names included and having DH to come up with the rest.
These are the names we currently like. DH wants to be settled on a boy and girl names when we find out what the baby is so we can start calling the baby that.
We can't agree on any girl names, middle will be Elizabeth after my mom and Nana. I really love Gabriella, hoping DH will come around. If we have a boy he will be Nicholas Antonio.
We are now thinking Lily. Of course, my parents love it and seem to have announced it to all family. My mom is just too excited. I hope they confirm girl in a couple weeks, or I'm in trouble, lol. They were there when the sonogram tech said 80% chance of girl. The guy who draws blood said he's never wrong, but still early and you never know!
We had a girl name picked out with the first pregnancy earlier this year and we had not decided on a boy name. We are going to use the same girl name we had picked out (if it is a girl). And we just figured out the boy name last night. I had wanted to incorporate the name James into the boy's name b/c it is a family name on both sides. (I cannot remember if I have commented on this thread or not. I scanned but did not see. I'm feeling deja vu). But James did not make the final cut. So.....
Girl: Elizabeth Rose (or Emma Rose, or Emily Rose) Boy: Nicholas Andrew Lots of possibilities of nicknames with that one: Nick, Nicky, Andy, Drew
We have one of each and used up our favorite names already. Noah Mark and Elise Vivian. Naming the 3rd will be hard. So far we like Caitlyn, Sarah, and Michael.
We are having such a hard time. DS is named Teddy (Theodore) and that's the only name we agreed on last time. Finding another boy name is so difficult because it needs to be a non-made up name that exists in Swedish. Front runners are Lucas, Leo, Henry, Felix, and Linus. Clearly we like older sounding names. I love Linus and it's very popular in Sweden but feels too...obscure even for NYC.

@Bltbear82 Teddy is such a great name!! I really like your list, too! I can be a bit of a hipster with name choices, but I LOVE Felix! If my last name didn't start with S (which I think sounds awkward with a name ending in X), it would totally be on my list!
Thanks @yogahh - Leo was actually my girl name nickname and I can't give it up!
@LadySamLady I love the name Teddy, it fits him perfectly. He looks like a sweet little guy and I like that it isn't terribly popular. I've also never met a Felix in any of our classes. It's hard to find a name I like equally and doesn't sound weird when I call them together, like Freddie and Teddy. Not so into the rhyming bit!

I love those names! We're going with Henry if it's a boy, but I love both Linus and Leo. (DH wouldn't agree to Leo because there are already lots of cousins with this name on my side of the family.)
DH and I have different taste in names so it will be interesting to see how it turns out in the end. We have two names that have become the "we can't agree on anything else" names but I wish we both felt strongly about the same one. The default names are at the top.
Girl : Sierra Grace * Araminta Grace Luicine Grace Seta Grace Marion Grace
Boy: Dean Conner * Nishan Lincoln Reed Frederick Conner
We haven't talked about this at all except joking about naming after unfortunately named NFL and MLB players (Arian, Javedeon, Coco). Since we are having identical twins at least we won't have to settle on one.
For now, we are calling both babies Salvador (after Royals catcher Salvador Pérez).
Mobile bump sucks so it took me this long to find time to get on my desktop to post. I really like the name Hadley and I thought it was unique but it seems like a lot of people like it on here. That being said I am not needing a name that no one else has.
DH and I normally don't agree on anything but we have found some names we like. This will be our first baby and we plan on having at least one more possibly two. Because of this I like to think of all the names so none of my potential children have a name that doesn't go.
Here are our top names (however we have a list of about 15 boys, and 10 girls names)
Boy (mn will be James)- Lincoln (nickname would be Link), Levi, Silas
Girl- Amelia, Hadley, Lily
Heres the part I have a hard time with. I am starting to feel like we should go with an "L" name for all of our LO. But I don't want the stigma with that. Also our last name starts with an L and has 3 syllables. It would be a nod to his mom and grandpa though as both their names start with an L (Louis and Laura).
We somehow decided on names very quickly. Like within two weeks of getting the BFP haha. For a girl we have Mia Noelle and for a boy we have Nico Erik. Erik is after my SO's best friend (also a good friend of mine) who passed away suddenly last year.
Girls: -I really love the name Natalie Rachel, but that was the name I was thinking of during my last pregnancy which ended in a MC. We had confirmation that the baby was a girl, so I associate Natalie with her. I still really would like to use the name, I just don't know how I feel about the situation. Otherwise we have: -Emily Jade -We're just getting on an Elle kick, so I'm thinking about Brielle. I just can't figure out a middle name to go with it.
Boy: - Cameron (possibly Russel for a middle name after my grandfather) - Nathan (not sure of middle name)
So my hubs came home with a new boys' name yesterday: Birch.
He really likes it and It's really growing on me, too. But I can't decide what it connotes. What do you think of when you hear it? Would you give side-eye?
Note: We are kind of hippy-types. Not over the top or anything, but we're very outdoorsey, we're into conservation, we're both kind of individualistic/walk to the beat of our own drum-types. Not that one needs to be outdoorsy/slightly hippy to name their child after a tree, haha. IN fact, maybe the fact that we ARE outdoorsy types makes the name too literal. I don't know. But I'm trying the name on for size. Thoughts?

I think it's interesting. I would imagine someone named Birch to be outdoorsy, but refined also. In my opinion, it's definitely not more "out there" than any other modern name. Just like any other first name, whether it's a good choice would also depend on the middle name, and on a solid flow with your last name.

His last name is going to be long as we're hyphenating. One name early on our list was Maximillion (nn Max). but Maximillion and then this hyphenated long name seemed a bit much. So Birch is one syllable and seems to flow with the two last names better than a longer first name.
@vinerie this girl I went to high school with named her son Birch, and I've always liked it. You don't hear it much but I especially like that about it.
My dds name is Kalani-Symone so if it's a boy Kingston and a girl Kyngstan ,Kennedy Elizabeth unsure of a middle name for him as yet or wether or not to hyphenate
All we have so far is Hayley. Everything else is up in the air, and the SO doesn't like talking about it until we know the sex since "That cuts out half the work!" ....
I think for a girl we've settled on either Astrid Cadence or Dessi Cadence and for a boy I think Zane Austin. Neither name is relavent to family, we just like the way they sound Edited for grammatical errors
Vera is currently in the lead for a girl. It was my great grandma's name and I like that it's not too popular. I really have no clue for boy names! We already have Sam, Hugh, Mary, and Grace, so whatever we choose will probably also have that classic feel.
