First ultrasound, 3 heartbeats, freaking the F*** out!

I just had my first ultrasound and there were three babies. I'm in shock! The doctor said that one of the babies was measuring a week behind, so there is a chance I might miscarry that one. I'm scared and feel so guilty for not being excited! I just don't know how we'll do it!! Anyone else with multiples who is freaking out??

    Holy crap! 3 heartbeats! Do multiples run in your family? Any idea if any are identical yet?

    Congrats and good luck. My dear friend had spontaneous triplets and was freaked out for a very long time, before being excited. You will be fine!!!

    @NicknShan They are all fraternal. They do run in my family but triplets is a first. Both my sister and I had twins with our first pregnancy but the twin didn't make it early on (mine was 5 weeks) My sister went in to have twins with her second pregnancy. So basically all the pregnancies in our family have been multiples! Thank you for the nice thoughts and prayers!

    We didn't expect it. My hcg levels were normal. So I guess that's proof that those numbers don't mean anything!!

    Thanks everyone for all the nice thoughts!! We have another ultrasound on Friday to see how the third baby is progressing. I'll keep you all updated!!

    What a shock! Congratulations! Take the time to feel how you feel, this was certainly unexpected even with prior twin pregnancies. GL and FX for a H&H 9 months for you!

    I would be freaking out too! Even with a family history of multiples, twins are SO different from triplets. I wish you the best and definitely keep us updated!

    Wow, that had to have been shocking! Praying for the little peanut. It's ok to be worried about it. Take time to absorb all of the information and experience all of the emotions you need to feel. Fingers crossed everyone in there is healthy!

    I can totally understand why you'd be scared. Multiples are a daunting prospect for anyone. Perhaps there are support groups in your city for mothers with multiples?

    Wow what a crazy unexpected blessing! Fx for you for healthy babies and for managing your stress in this life changing news! I'm sure its overwhelming & a lot to take in so just take care of yourself! You CAN do this!

    I'm (not so secretly) hoping for twins... DH is definitely not, but they do run in my family so we'll see at our first appt next Friday!

    Oh my gosh! That is a shock!
    Keep us updated - and it's definitely normal and okay to be worried and scared and take time to process before excitement. And if excitement doesn't come I'm pretty sure that is normal too <3

    Yes! I do remember the shock, and I cried for the rest of the day when we found out we were having twins. (They are almost 2 now.). Take some time to freak the heck out, lol. A good friend of mine from my Moms of Multiples club went in for her scan and found twins, then found one of the eggs split, and it was trips. They're 2.5 now-all boys. It sounds like you have an amazing support network, and someone who understands the unique blessings and challenges of having multiples. Just know that you CAN do this. :)

    And once the shock has worn off, I'd recommend Dr. Luke's book, When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads. It has great stuff in it about diet, rest, what type of monitoring to expect, etc.

    I'm so glad I'm not the only one!  I feel so guilty for crying!  Thank you for you great advice!

    Congrats!! I recently found out I am having twins. Freaking out a bit too, not sure how we are going to handle our toddler plus twins and the 2 extra kids in daycare. I plan to read lots is twin books and honestly take it one day at a time. Has your morning sickness been awful? I am feel sick all day long, sometimes through the night too.

    You and I need to be best Internet friends!  I have a toddler in daycare and freaking about the cost of three!  I have been a lot sicker than I ever was with my first.  Like you, I just need to practice taking one day at a time!!

    Such a shock!!  24 hours later and I'm still in shock!!  Plusalso, I love your screen name, my husband's name is Courtney Jack, so it always reminds me of him!
