September / October IVF

Re: September / October IVF

  • @LCK0830 and @ShayLatrice are amazing and said everything great. @HBamama2B I am so sorry and honestly baffled by this woman! Definitely time to eliminate stress. Have DH lovingly explain how shit will go down and that you both are eager for a fresh start pending a healthy, relaxing break from her cruelty. You are the bigger person here and she should be embarrassed that her son has to be the one to tell her to grow up.

  • I think I blacked out after seeing the heartbeat, haha! I remember the doctor measuring the gestational sac but don't recall any numbers. He said it's all normal though. I'm 6w2d.

I have my next appointment on the 11th then I'm being handed off to my OB and I'm stopping medication on 11/24. I have mixed feelings about it. I like having my regular appointments!

I found out this morning that my OB doesn't deliver in the hospital closest to me. He delivers at the one that's about 35 minutes away. I've never met the OB but love the nurse and the practice. Should I stick with the practice or find a new doctor who delivers in the hospital I prefer?

  • Best Friday ever! So glad you both had great scans @lck0830 and @christiniv !! I have so many feels for this group right now and am overjoyed at our wonderful outcomes!

I had a great scan, baby is so much bigger! I'm 7+0 and we got to see The heartbeat, then listen to it. It's was so loud and strong! I've never heard anything more reassuring in my life! LO is measuring right on target and my ovary swelling has reduced enough for "very gentle" activity! Woohoo!!! Next scan is next Friday then will likely be turfed to my OB. :)

@LCK0830 that's an excellent question! Do you like the hospital he delivers at? Would they accept your preferred birth plan? I'm torn about where to deliver too (definitely would prefer it not be the closest hospital!) I picked my OB/midwife practice Bc they had rights at the birth center I want, now I may be risked out of the birth center due to age. :/ won't know till I meet with him what the rules are.
  • @HBamama2B so glad you us was great and the swelling is better!
This group truely is amazing! So happy i found it! I might not write a lit but always check to see what happened and to see al tge great news from everybody.
  • @hbamama2b I can't believe your MIL! You definitely do not need this stress. I agree with everyone else—have DH communicate with her about her inappropriateness and you cut communication with her. She shouldn't be trying to take over your pregnancy and make decisions for you. It's not her baby or belly! She sounds like the poor communicator, not you! Good idea about shopping with your mom during their thanksgiving dinner. Sounds like you need some retail therapy!
  • @Christiniv and @HBamama2B woohoo congrats on a great start to your weekend!!!
@LCK0830 I found out that my regular OB/GYN doesn't do Monday office hours, and since I have Mondays off, I have decided to switch doctors.  I figure now is the time and I want to do what it most convenient for me.  So if switching hospitals makes sense, I would probably do so.  But up to you!
I am just sticking with a big hospital down the street since I figure with twins I will be high-risk enough, ya know?  Why mess around... I used to wonder about my 'birth plan', etc, and now I'm just like, do whatever is medically best!!

  • Awesome picture @HBamama2B ! That is so great you got to hear the heartbeat. I can't wait for that moment! This process is amazing. I can't get over it.

I haven't thought about my birth plan. I spent so much time worrying about getting pregnant then staying pregnant that I haven't even thought about the next steps. Did anyone take hospital tours? Is it way too early for that?

@mclorn I'm with you. I'm leaning towards the closer hospital. Something in my gut is telling me to go there. Plus, with DC traffic, a 30 minute drive can easily turn into an hour and a half.

  • @LCK0830 Ok... I haven't even gotten to  my transfer but I've already done a hospital tour and started my birth plan. Cart before horse I know... but it helped me get through the IVF process for some strange reason. I asked DH to make me a playlist of all my favorite songs that calm me to be played softly during labor and delivery... I've already planned to make green tea popsicles to have because they help give you energy and ice cubes won't cut it for me. I'll be in there cussing everybody out if I can't have something with flavor. I planned to have my hair braided in box braids because I sweat in my head and I don't want to look like Don King when Labor is over. LOLOLOL!!

  • I changed Practices..... We live in GA where Northside Hospital is known as the baby factory!!! Well they opened a 2nd branch about 10 miles from our new home and with having twins I get to have them at that hospital... instead of driving in Atlanta's unpredictable traffic.... it could take up to 2 hrs to get to dunwoody at any given time of day....

The funny thing is that my Old OBGYN does clinic hours for my new office. Another thing that is exciting is we have CNM in my new practice :) WOOT WOOT

Mine 1st ob appointment was less then 45 min.... We don't have to do the typical things because all of our blood work has been done with IVF and our records are sent ahead in a pretty package which is nice. Now, I was told I will be there longer for the 12 wk scan and appointment because I will have to do blood work and ultrasound and OB work up then.

@ShayLatrice we are actually lucky! The protocol is changing! No more starving ourselves so we fail through sheer exhaustion! Whatever bonehead thought that up has been properly sent to the bowels of useless medical crap we no longer need. I plan to eat drink and poop my way through labor. :) def rocking braids and probably some Popsicles along with my fruits and nuts and other light high protein snackums!

[All joking aside the mandate to not eat was originally to prevent you from choking while under full anesthetic, but when the advent of the epidural came they conveniently forgot to remove the stricture Bc it had the added benefit of you defecting less on the table, which made our mother's generation quite squeamish. Now that such a tiny percentage end up under general they've found 'no medical advantage' and significant disadvantage to the practice and are cutting it out.] recent article, but studies have been coming out the last five years debunking the no food policy. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/eating-during-labor-may-not-be-so-bad-new-study-suggests/
  • @LCK0830 Steal away... and now that @HBamama2B has made me aware that no starvation is necessary I'm bring all kinda energy fueling goodies with me. I'm no good for anybody hungry... I'd be swinging on everyone in the room.

@athompson0308 baaaah! How incredible! I was so exited I dropped my files in the hall reading that. Wow! What a special moment. Did you cry? I feel like I would cry.

@ShayLatrice that me to a Ti. "Hangry" is a woefully inadequate description of the unleashed hellfire that comes when I don't eat, and that was before my blood volume swung up and my heart rate increased 15 beats a minute to work on growing this LO. All I do now is eat, sleep, and watch Grey's and that is good for everyone. Safe... >-)
  • Thank you ladies! I squealed really loud. The Tech said "thats such a wiggly baby!" It's amazing how different it looks at each scan.
  • That's fantastic! What a fantastic day!

@Joyzie77 and @Colleen0516 how you ladies doing? :)

    Hugs all around!
  • I'm with you, @LCK0830 - have not thought at all about birth plan. Too busy getting and staying pregnant. Still feeling like I can't really make plans yet, although I'm finding I have to start touring daycare centers and getting on a wait list now! #bullsh!t

Luckily I already know my OB delivers at the hospital I want to be at. I graduate back to her after next week.
  • Was anyone on Estrace during their IVF cycle? I have 38 follies and E2 at 1250 on day 6 of stims so my doc wants me to do a Lupron trigger instead of ovidrel. He is also putting me on Estrace. Does this have to do with Lupron?
  • I was on a lupron trigger as well. Its to stop you from OHSS. Also, i believe estrace is protocol for a lot of us ladies. You use it vaginally...which is weird to put a pill up there and it makes you leak a blue/green discharge. Fun times lol
  • @athompson0308 bwahahaha! I just freaked out and grabbed my pill bottle. I've been taking the tiny blue estrace tablets by mouth for over a month now! Luckily, the bottle confirmed mine are oral pills.

@Rachd110 you're RE sounds on it! Especially with that large number of follies. I also did a Lupron/HCG dual trigger to prevent ohss, rate of moderate to severe ohss are very low with the Lupron trigger so that's great news. And I started estrace right after ER and am still on it twice a day (by mouth thankfully). :)) So excited for you! GL!
  • @Rachd110 .. I was on estrace while on the patches and doing the PIO. I did not do Lupron.
  • @HBMama2B .. I'm doing well. Patiently waiting while on BCP's and baby aspirin. I had a small cyst but they told me it wasn't anything to worry about.
  • It's so cool the see the ultrasound pictures!!!!!!!
  • @jav5y2 love your update! So excited for you and the LO! The baby moon sounds fabulous. It's one of my favorite drives. Band Oregon on the way is beautiful if you swing by. Thank you for your support and I'm sorry to hear that your family can be difficult too, but glad you have support from your DH and MIL! Ps: olive is adorbs!

@Joyzie77 good, I'm glad the cyst isn't an issue! What day do you finish OCPs?
  • @HBamama2B thanks for the suggestion.  We (or at least I) don't know our exact route yet, but I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for it!
  • @HBamama2B Im soooo jealous! ER day they told me to insert the estrace and I had to re-ask 3 times...i was like "put the pills where?!?". I wish mine was oral too :(
  • Can they switch you? Blue goo sounds ewww.
  • Haha! I did the same thing @HBamama2B I frantically ran to my bathroom and checked my pill bottle. Mine are taken by mouth as well. Phew.

Guys, I feel so hungover. I have to keep reminding myself that I haven't had anything to drink in over a month and that I'm not hungover, I'm pregnant.
