It makes me *irrationally* frustrated when people say they are going to find out the gender of their baby. Sex =/= gender. You find out the sex of the baby...but the LO gets to decide their gender.

@2mommiesforbaby I don't think we can be friends. JK but really...I rarely eat a McDs, but when I do I get the egg mcmuffin. It's freaking delicious.
My UO today, and I fully expect to get some flame for this, is women who use pregnancy as an excuse to not do a damn thing. And for the record, first trimester doesn't count and I'm not referring to high risk pregnancies. I'm talking about the women with normal, healthy pregnancies who literally spend the entire 9 months being lazy and acting like they're breakable. Pregnancy isn't a disease, and women all over the world do it every day. Do something.
I get irritated when people say that 'I got pregnant from using the digital OPK'.... no... you got pregnant from sex and a healthy sperm fertilizing an egg. No magic in any OPK is going to 'get you pregnant.' No OPK is officially going to tell you that you actually ovulated.

What? People actually say this? I'm going to start saying that I got pregnant from sticking a BBT up my vag every morning.

My UO is that although I know you're technically right, it really doesn't phase me when people use them interchangeably and it annoys me when people constantly correct people about it. The way I see it is that the terms are going to be synonymous until they aren't. I was a tomboy until high school and hated all things "girly", but I think girls don't need to like pink, can play football with the boys, etc.
This is a stupid one but I am unnecessarily angry about it. I hate shopping on US websites. I live in Canada and some things aren't offered on our sites that are offered on the US ones. I'm looking at you H&M!!! Yesterday I was going to place an order and I even have a US address to ship it to, but the it wouldn't take my freakin' credit card because it has to have a US address. I was so angry because I'd been telling myself to wait to shop for maternity stuff until I knew things looked good and I'd kept my shit together until the ultrasound yesterday and got good news. So I decided to treat myself to a cute dress and some freakin' jammies and the stupid site wouldn't let me. It ended with me yelling, "WHY WON'T YOU JUST TAKE MY MONEY?!?!" It's not fair and I'm going to pout about it for a while even though I'm a grown woman that should be able to deal with it, hahaha.
@candicek15 - I'm with you. Why doesn't Old Navy.ca have maternity clothes but Old Navy.com does?! Do not enough women in Canada get pregnant to justify it?! And the shipping is way more $$ if I do order from the US site. So frustrating.

Seriously! I live pretty close to the border so I will get stuff shipped to the UPS store every once in a while if it's something I really like or is way cheaper, but to not even let me do that is too much for me, hahaha. There are really only 2 places where I live that sell maternity clothes. Some of the Old Navy's have it in store, but very few items. Not fair! I want to look cute too!

I completely agree with you ladies! The downfall of living in Canada, lol...shopping problems!
I have a very unpopular opinion and am sure I will be flamed- I hate when people look down on me for buying my dogs instead of adopting them.
I get that there are millions of dogs that need homes and it breaks my heart. BUT- after my sister got rid of her dog for attacking her other dog within inches of her newborn baby, I decided I would never adopt a dog. (She adopted Elsie as an 8 week old puppy from a puppy mill)
I have had my pups since they were 8 weeks old, I have played with their teeth, tails, nails everyday since they were babies and am confident they wouldn't bite. I just cannot justify bringing an adopted dog into my house with a history of abuse or aggressive behavior when I am expecting to have a household of young children in the next few years.
@laurenm2123 I adopted my dog at 8 weeks. Was able to play with his teeth, tail, and nails every day. He cost me $100 and I saved a puppy from euthanasia, when I could have gone out and bought him from a breeder and spent a ton more.
I get your point overall, but the gaping hole in it is that puppies are in shelters too. Not just adult dogs.

Also, there are plenty of adoptable dogs with no history of aggression, are great with kids of all ages, and other dogs.

I agree- but not the ones I've come in contact with personally.
I guess I should have added that I am in NO WAY looking down on people who adopt. I just don't like when people are rude and/or condescending to me because they know I bought my dogs from a breeder.

I don't consider adopting a puppy or kitten (or any young/baby pet) from rescues as a true *rescue*. Not saying you didn't do a great thing - but everyone prefers puppies or kittens and they have a much lower risk of being euthanized than older pets and haven't had much of a life to be "rescued from". I know this doesn't apply to all young rescues - but around me it does.
I adopted a cat from a shelter, but she was 4 months old. I don't call her a rescue.

Most reputable rescues will foster a dog for a while before they're put up for adoption so the foster gets to know the dog's personality, test them in various environments with various stimuli (kids, other dogs, strangers, cats, separation, etc.), and train them to correct any issues they do have. They'll also require a home visit, and often do a trial period with the dog so you get to spend a good amount of time with them to see if it's a good fit. So, it's actually quite easy to find a great dog (or cat) to adopt. FWIW.
I get your point about not wanting to bring in a dog with a history of biting, especially with aggression towards kids. However, I would never buy an animal from a breeder since there are plenty of great dogs in shelters or rescues that need homes, and would be great with kids.
In the end, everyone's gotta make their own choice.
My UO: It really irks me when people try to talk to me about their pets. I just don't care about other people's pets, the "hilarious" things they do, the "adorable" things they do, etc. I don't know why I'm so irrational about this, but sometimes I just get so annoyed when people try to strike up a conversation about their pets.

FWIW, the dog we adopted after he was surrendered from another owner is much better with DD than the dog we've had since he was a puppy. In the long run, do what you're comfortable with. We will probably always get our dogs from rescue groups, but my parents and in laws buy from (reputable) breeders and there's no judgement.

Such a good one! SOOOO unpopular! We have one adopted dog and recently bought a new puppy from a petstore. When we talk about our italian greyhound (we wanted a pure-bred and couldn't find a breeder #sorrynotsorry) people ALWAYS ask if she was adopted. I am obnoxious so I always say "No, she's from a pet store and we're not even sorry about it!" I understand the arguments against pet stores but I love both my dogs and just don't care.

Not all pet stores get puppy mill dogs. I worked for one and I personally drove to people's homes to hand pick the puppies. We had everything from show quality with papers to "whoops the dog got out" pups.
My dog is from a breeder. He has a health guarantee and if something happens to his hips, or eyes the breeder covers the cost. he's the best dog ever.

Yup! This was exactly what happened with my dog. He lived in a foster home for about a month before we got him. We had actually called a rescue about another dog but they said he wouldn't be good for first time dog owners. I'm lucky that the rescues around here want to make sure you're a good match. I think because they are so strapped for foster homes that they want to make sure that once a dog is adopted it doesn't go back (since there may not be another space for it). The rescue called our references to make sure we'd been talking about getting a dog for a long time and weren't just adopting on a whim. Our dog is honestly a perfect match for us, and there were school-aged children in his foster homes so we knew we'd be ok with kids later on. We always keep a close watch when he's with younger kids but we haven't had any issues. We've even taken a workshop about kids and dogs! I understand why some people prefer breeders, but I will always rescue since temperament is never a guarantee anyway!

I just don't care about other people's pets, the "hilarious" things they do, the "adorable" things they do, etc. I don't know why I'm so irrational about this, but sometimes I just get so annoyed when people try to strike up a conversation about their pets.
Totally agree. I'm just not a pet person. I couldn't care less. And I understand fully that pet owners may not want to hear about my children, and I respect that 100%. A related UO is that it makes me irrationally mad when pet owners try to turn Mother's Day into a day where they need to be recognized too. I totally disagree. Moms get one day. Let us (moms of humans) have ONE DAY.
I may be quite petty for this, but it irks me when people create a post to ask for advice and don't follow up with at least a "Thank you" when they receive a number of responses... Maybe it is not required, but it's just a courteous gesture...in my unpopular opinion.
Does it count if you click "Love it" on all the reply posts? I figured that was a good way of saying thanks without creating a new comment in the chain.

I just completely disagree with you on this. My pup was rescued from a situation where he most likely would have died. His mother was skin & bones and living in a ditch with her puppies barely feeding them. The local shelter wouldn't accept the litter or their mom and said they would have to put them all down if they were brought in. They were brought to a small rescue out of the kindness of someone's heart about 150 miles away. My puppy is a rescue, he survived when all odds were against him.

I acknowledged not in every situation, but most. I'm glad your dog had the opportunity and you're giving him an amazing home.
Odds are always in the puppy's favour vs the mom or an older pet.
This is another reason why I'm so sad Target left! I was like "all right cheap maternity clothes finally!" But now we just have Thyme and Motherhood, aka like $50 for a shirt.
I'm going to the states over Christmas and plan to get everything then haha.

If Caitlyn Jenner is a hero, then I'm a mothaf*&^%ing saint. There are SO MANY other people I would consider a hero. Also, Chick-fil-a is gross. I tried the basic chicken sandwich for the first time a couple days ago and there was nothing in it- just chicken and two pickles! I just don't get the hype.
