Lurking from O15. With my 2nd there was a full moon the day after my EDD.....I went into labor 5 days later. EDD is tomorrow and I honestly am not holding my breath.
I'm a totally rational, scientific person in almost every way. But... I work in a psychiatric emergency department and we almost always see an increase in number and intensity of patients around full moons. The pattern is well-established enough that we try to have an extra staff person during the full moon at my hospital. Maybe lunar cycles affect us in ways we don't totally understand yet. Hopefully I don't get laughed off the boards for this.
Exactly the same here, I spent 8 years working in an outpatient psychiatric facility (community homes/apartments), and there would be a noticeable change in behaviours when a full moon occured. There was a term they used for it, but I can't recall at this point.
As impatient as I'm getting, I will be so bitter if the full moon tonight leads to me going into labor (not that I actually believe in these things, but still). Just because my anniversary is tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to going out to dinner and celebrating with my husband. I mean, l'm sure I'd be really happy to meet my son, too. But right now it's all about that dinner.
The full moon phenomena in animals (and even people before modern lighting) was attributed to the additional light and the fact that both predators and prey were more active. While both were able to be more active, the predators lost the advantage of darkness and struck out more often. So in the time leading up to the full moon predators became incrementally more vicious and willing to attack. It's how the werewolf myths began.
Like PP's have explained the moon and the tides are connected so many people connect the full moon with changes in our bodies as well.
If there's something strange underneath the hood. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. If there's something weird and it don't look good. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. Immediately. If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor. It's for your health and your child's.
Raining and cold front where I am, but the super moon has passed and baby is happily camped out in my bod. Oh well. On another note, has anyone in daylight savings areas thought about that coming up. My husband told me the other day that he hoped the baby would be born on Nov 1 at exactly 2:00 am so we could have a "time-traveling" baby.
I was talking to my BF about it the other day!
We just had our daylight saving change at the weekend... And although I wanted to make my due date I was a little disappointed not to get the time travelling kiddo!!
Well, kind of disappointed full moon and despite last night full of contractions and pain, no baby. No more contractions. She's still hanging out. Guess she's not a wear wolf afterall. )

Haha I work in an inpatient psychiatric setting and have a lot of colleges who believe the full moon effects clients behaviour and that we have more incidents on site during this time, not sure if I'm convinced myself like
After reading this thread, I had to check out when the next full moon is, it happens to be 2 days after my due date (11/23). I told my husband I hope she's born then, and he told me knowing how punctual I am, our kid will probably be riiiiiiggghhhht on time. We'll see!!
