  • My SIL is super into this stuff and happened to have her baby on the last one, so she's convinced I'll be in labor tomorrow. Truthfully, I hope she's right, only because I'm so done.

Lol I'm the same way. Part of me hopes the full moon moves things along just because I'm ready to be done. But I know the baby could use to cook a little longer (Only 37+3 tomorrow) so.....

My original due date was 11/4, then moved to 10/22...and I'm waiting. He's gonna get here whenever it's most inconvenient for my needy and demanding family I'm sure.

Side note: if he's anything like his mama, he's gonna have a crazy head of hair, so a werewolf baby isn't far off.

I swear my kids act crazier on one. I think they are part werewolf. They started their craziness today. My mom when she work at a school kids were always worst close to one too. I joked with my family the full moon was going to put me into labor. But I doubt it will 38+2. :)) I also ask my magic 8 ball it said I would go into labor this week =)) l totally don't rely on either just fun to joke about.
  • I'm a teacher(well, was - not working this year because of baby), and I can tell you the kids definitely acted differently around the full moon. I feel sorry for the teachers this week with it being both a full moon and halloween.

Teacher here as well, working up until my due date and the kids seemed super off today!! Ive also had so many of my co workers tell me that I'm going into labor before the night is over but I'm not so sure about that one lol.

At least it wasn't just my two kids. It started first thing this morning. I am dreading tomorrow.
  • We actually asked the question to the nurse at the childbirth class !
She said there was no difference on full moon days for the amount of pregnant women going into labor BUT when there is a change in weather, they get crazy busy. Watch for the rain ladies !

  • When I was pregnant with DS there was a full moon around the time I was 38 weeks along. I went into labor on my DD. So yeah.... Not holding my breath.
  • I wouldn't be surprised if I went into labor tonight or tomorrow! 39+2. Been feeling like it's coming, Maybe this is the push I need!

Ooooh where I live tomorrow has a high chance of rain AND a full moon! I'm clearly going into labor ;)
Raining today and tomorrow. Guess I need to go ahead and reserve my spot at L&D. Lol
  • Maybe lunar cycles affect us in ways we don't totally understand yet. Hopefully I don't get laughed off the boards for this.

My midwife said almost the same thing about the weather changes. The last time we had a drastic drop in temperature and the barometric pressure, she said they had to turns girls away and send them to different hospitals off post because SO many girls were coming in in labor, most of them a few weeks early! I'm not banking on going into labor for either of these reasons but it's interesting how sometimes things can coincide!

Things like this interest me. The moon helps dictate one of the most steadily persistent acts of nature; the tides. The earth is about three quarters water, so are we..I absolutely believe the lunar patterns affect us in some way.

I'm a totally rational, scientific person in almost every way. But... I work in a psychiatric emergency department and we almost always see an increase in number and intensity of patients around full moons. The pattern is well-established enough that we try to have an extra staff person during the full moon at my hospital. Maybe lunar cycles affect us in ways we don't totally understand yet. Hopefully I don't get laughed off the boards for this.
My mom is an L&D nurse & she insists that the birthing center goes nuts every full moon. Lol. I'm not holding my breath, though. :))
My doctor just told me at my appointment today that they hire extra security because it gets so crazy!

ETA: She also commented on the rain, but it has to be a high front where the barometric pressure is high.  The extra pressure on your body can break your water apparently, obviously only if it's ready to break but she said they see an increase every time a high front moves in.

  • I am in the hospital now, but not in labor. The nurse told me it was a slow day today. Guess the full moon does not impact Massachusetts.

  • My good friend is a L&D nurse and has been for years. They also staff up for a full moon. Sounds bonkers but she said census always goes up so they just prep for it!
  • Low pressure systems seem to have more effect. Rain and snow storms bring a big drop in atmospheric pressure which has been shown to affect a lot of things- including labor.
But I do agree that people seem more crazy around a full moon.

My mom swears I'll go into labor but then again she also swore I would when the eclipse happened.. She's just superstitious lol it's also raining all today and through the week! So who knows!
Also there has been proven studies that show crime rates increase on full moon nights so maybe it can effect us
  • May or may not have been dreaming about contractions starting and going into labor because of the full moon... Then was slightly disappointed when I woke up and realized it was a dream. Then was relieved because little man should technically still cook for 2 ½ weeks. DH says he thinks that if I don't go into labor today, I'll be hanging out until my due date.

There are theories that because the moon affects water (e.g. tidal waves), it could affect people as well, given how much of our make-up is water. It is from where the term lunacy derives.

Not sure I believe it affects childbirth, but I'm sure it affects us somehow.

I lurk. I snark. I offer sound advice if you're not BSC. You may not like me. I'm okay with it.

  • When my midwife made a follow up call with me this morning she mentioned thus :). Had an annoying false labor night last night so if it brings on labor to them so be it!!

I used to work as a dispatcher in law enforcement and in a 911 dispatch call center, it deffinetly got crazier on full moon nights.

Raining and cold front where I am, but the super moon has passed and baby is happily camped out in my bod.  Oh well.  On another note, has anyone in daylight savings areas thought about that coming up.  My husband told me the other day that he hoped the baby would be born on Nov 1 at exactly 2:00 am so we could have a "time-traveling" baby.
I was talking to my BF about it the other day!
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.
