Both of our dogs are always clingy and cuddly, so I haven't noticed a difference there; but they do seem more concerned about finding me when they come back inside. If DH lets them in, they come right to me. I was gone last week and DH said that they kept running around in our bedroom trying to find me. I don't know if they know something or they are just weird... both are completely legit options.
I think one of them knows and the other is clueless. The little one has been laying right next to me and stands up, defensive like, when the other dog walks by. I am pretty sure she has had puppies though, she was a stray, so maybe that makes a difference. The big one is just dumb! She is still pretty young (3) and was fixed right away;I don't think she has a maternal bone in her body! We will see once I am further along if her behavior changes.
Definitely. I've always called Rusty my "velcro dog" because when I'm home he spends most of his time with me. But now it's like a whole new level of cling. He won't even wait outside the bathroom while I shower now. Wherever I am is where he HAS to be!
I think the dogs may not know a baby's coming but they know to be less rough and more cuddly. At least that's how my dogs were with the first. And my cat will just come sit on my lap like he's trying to warm my belly
I'm so glad I came along this post!! Before I found out I was pregnant my dog would not stop licking my tummy!! It was really strange. I then took a test and sure enough it was positive. She stays very close to me now and is very gentle around me whereas with my boyfriend she can get a little rough she definitely knows there's a baby in there. My boyfriend told me I was crazy but I guess I'm not the only one.
I don't have dogs but I have two cats and they are at each others throats this past month. Annie was always super clingy with me- but now Soph wants to be on my lap all the time too and they are fighting more because of it. I hope they find a way to get along- I don't know how they will react when the baby comes home.
My pup knows. And i am pretty sure he is mad about it. He normally is always right next to me, but for the last few weeks he will follow me but then go sleep on my husband or the opposite side of the couch. He is an old man dog and is not looking forward to being peed on again like ds always managed to do!
I will say he knew when i lost my other pregnancies. 2 years ago the morning i started bleeding i woke up to all 60lbs of him completely covering my head (he put his body around me as much as he could) it was so weird my husband took a picture. An hour later i started bleeding.
Re: Do your dogs know?
And my second dog is a honey badger in general, to me and everything. He likes to snuggle though so we're cool.
