Talking about the Mets vs Cubs reminded me that I need to come clean on my sports allegiances so people don't get confused. Since we have lived all over this country, we have multiple team allegiances in each sport. They somehow fall into place in order of favorite on their own, thank the gods, but I adopt a 'home' team where ever I go, and continue to like them once we leave. So for baseball its the Mets, Mariners, Dodgers (honorable mention to the Zephyrs in New Orleans). Football its the Saints, Packers and Seahawks tied at second (the Hawks got Jimmy Graham! Omg!), and I guess the Jets (cause I'm not going to go for the Giants. The Giants are the Yankees of football, kinda). Hockey both the Kings and the Islanders are tied for my affection. Its harder to watch Kings games because of the time difference, but I'm a little annoyed with my beloved Isles for trading away my two fav players in the off season, and with the move to Brooklyn. Part of my best Isles memories are tailgating, and there is no tailgating in Brooklyn [-(
So, if you see me raving about one team, and later about another, I'm not being a fickle bitch, I'm just collecting teams like beanie babies over here.

Such a classic Melly post. "Collecting teams like beanie babies." Love it!!!
My sports allegiances are: Red Sox for AL, Mets for NL and "not the Yankees" which is another way of saying my family raised me as a Sox fan. I grew up in CT which is big Yankees territory, it's funny how your family's traditions are passed down.
For football it's the a Steelers which makes no sense given where I grew up, but again was a family thing. The Pats annoy me to no end, which makes me very unpopular in Massachusetts I will root for the NY teams when push comes to shove.
And for college I'll root for Big East and ACC teams, as I grew up in Big a East country and went to an ACC school for college.
I also used to collect beanie babies. What a waste...weren't they supposed to be worth something one day? We cheer for all the Houston teams...clearly the Texans are not a threat.
DH's family is from Pittsburgh and LO is in a Steelers onesie right now because my in laws just got back from a trip.
@mellymar As a Cheesehead by birth, I'm glad to see you cheer for the Packers. Even if you're a Seahawks fan. >-
Its so funny how rivalries can go one way or both ways. Like I'm not sure that Seattle-ites know that there is a 'rivalry' with Green Bay. But its known by both Seattle and San Fransisco that there is a rivalry. Just like I'm pretty sure Yankee fans don't realize that Mariners fans despise the Yankees with a passion. But everybody in the world knows about Yankees / Red Sox. And I had no clue that Green Bay had a rival in the Bears (makes sense, tho) and thus my Isles and Mets gear is not well received. Screw that tho, I'm still wearing it. 1) I like orange and blue as colors and 2) they're both my favorite hats, seasonally appropriate. #thisisnotabearshat

DH was born in Appleton and is huge Packers fan. He and his dad just went to a game at Lambeau a couple weeks ago. (was an early joint b-day gift for them that MIL and I arranged). He finally got to wear his ancient, discolored cheese hat, haha. They got to the stadium at like 8a.m. and hung out after the game until they kicked out. Hopefully he'll be able to do the same with DS some day

Yeah, not a huge sports fan here either. I do have teams I root for and some I despise because of obnoxious fans.
MLB, I'm a braves fan, still remember when they won the series in 95, right before I turned 11.
In the south, people tend to be more into college football than NFL and my family, with the exception of 2 uncles who married in) are University of Georgia fans. Ironically the uncles are Georgia Tech and University of Florida fans, 2 of our biggest rivals.
I will admit that I kind of like the Falcons, mostly because I love Kim Zolciak Bierman and her husband, Kroy, is a falcon. Also sat next to Matt Ryan, the QB a few years ago while getting my hair done.
@dancegurl1118 Mickey Mouse isn't the problem at all. I'll sing along to hot dog hot dog hot diggity dog, the problem is that at 11:30pm I decided sticking a screen in front of my 4 month old was the solution to keep her entertained while I caught some Zs X_X

I've done a version of this. I have a way of sitting LO in the crook of my arm so I can recline a bit and he is still safe. He was facing toward the TV and he was looking at it, and I fell asleep that way. When I woke up later he was still awake and just looking. Maybe he slept, too. Who knows. I justified it as cuddle time.

Jk. I've resorted to technology to catch a few extra zzzz's before. DS waking up at the crack of dawn?! How about some Curious George?
I literally see nothing wrong with using tv once in awhile. Let the guilt go, sometimes kids just run you too ragged on a crazy day (speaking as a former nanny).

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
For a long time DH has used South Park to help soothe LO. She likes the colours and basic shapes and DH gets to be entertained for a bit after trying to soothe a fussy baby. No shame here haha
^^ I'm guilty of this too in a way. Her bedtime suits her but I do feel guilty having her at a 9pm bedtime when it seems like a lot of other moms have their kids going to bed much earlier. This is what works for us atm though.
@mvargas12 Not sure! I think they just started filming. Not soon enough though. Have you seen Ben since he did this fitness competition?! A little too much for me.
My LO gets tired every night at 6, but I selfishly keep her awake to go to bed at 7:30 so I don't have to wake up super early. I feel guilty. :-SS
I have read in multiple sleep books that this isn't true. 7:30 seems fine but 9pm is too late for a bedtime IMO. Everything I've read says that an earlier bedtime will actually have them sleep longer. Now I have no first hands experience since my LO won't sleep, but just throwing it out there.
My experience with DS was definitely the later he stayed up, the earlier he woke up. But I agree, 7:30 doesn't seem late. And you can always adjust bedtime by moving it 5-10 min each night until it's where you want it.
@Sjeff0816 my experience has always been that it doesn't matter what time LO goes to bed, he's getting up between 7:30-8:30am. Unless he stays up to late, then he's up early. Because you know, teach mum a lesson.
I suggest letting LO call it a day at 6pm and break out a bottle. My guess is that LO will crash through the night as usual. I'm doing backflips when LO will go to bed at 6:30.

9pm seems like a really late bedtime to me as well! But DH doesn't think so. She does really well though and has been sleeping nearly through the night for some time now. My boobs wake me during the night more often than she does lol. She wakes up once around 7am, takes a bottle and then goes back down 15 min later until 9am. Because of this I don't really have a good argument for DH other than "But that's not how it's supposed to be..." I know we'll eventually move her to an earlier bedtime but for now, this seems to work for our family.
^^ we just moved bedtime up from 9 to 730ish in the last 4 weeks or so ( she's 17 weeks now)
How was your experience? Does she actually sleep better or whatever the books say? I haven't read them so I can't put that very eloquently lol. And how'd you transition her?

Unless we are talking Ohio State, then we beat everyone.

Carry on. Don't mean to spoil the party. I love playing sports, just not watching.

The other night LO wasn't falling asleep so I put her on the swing and put on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for her. I officially suck.
Jk. I've resorted to technology to catch a few extra zzzz's before. DS waking up at the crack of dawn?! How about some Curious George?
Unfortunately, he has seen no cartoons but watches Nashville and Real Housewives of OC weekly.
ETA yes I mean hell not he'll.
