My skin has been really dry and I can see my eczema start to come sooner than expected; which is winter(we live in TX). To prevent the bumps and dry areas along the skin, I use Palmers Cocoa Oil ^ Butter. Just a little, wouldn't want my face to become oily;)

  • I'm already seeing pimples come up around my chin area. I have combination skin so putting oil on it will not help me. Any recommendation?

When I was pregnant with my son, my skin was terrible. I ordered the Belli Skincare products and they were amazing. They're pregnancy safe, smell pepperminty, and made my skin so soft. Some of my family members who weren't pregnant ordered them because they liked it so much. I'm going to have to stock up this time!
  • I am having a flare up of eczema. I haven't had since I was a child.
  • I've been using the three step solutions, face wash, tonic, cream and it's been helping. Give your skin some extra attention and it should look better, mine has
  • I went to my dermatologist and she prescribed Finacea topical cream for night time and Clinda lotion for morning. Both are completely pregnancy safe and have cleared my hormonal spots right up. I always had great skin before pregnancy so I definitely wanted it gone asap!

  • My forehead is breaking out like crazy!  I've always had really clear skin so this totally sucks.  I have heard that it will go away in my 2nd trimester so I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on skincare.  Any ideas?
  • I'm in the same boat! I've been breaking out so bad on my forehead and don't want to add to the problem by experimenting with a ton of different skincare products!
  • Me too! My forehead, its awful :( I switched to a non acne face wash when I found out, but its just not getting any better, but its not getting worse either so I guess that's good.
I started swabbing my forehead with alcohol twice a day, so maybe that will help :\
  • Try witch hazel and tea tree oil mixed. I use this morning and night in between washes and it works wonders for me
  • Ooh and this stuff is cheap. 8$ total for both
  • Look up suds soap company. I found them on Instagram and I am obsessed! The peppermint tea tree soap is my favorite, but I also love the scrub. The soaps are only 5 dollars a piece or you can get a set of 3 bars plus the scrub for 25 dollars. All natural and they are soooo helping my breakouts. I used Bell last pregnancy with no luck.

  • Hey girls, skin care professional here, I'll be honest with everyone as far as acne goes the best thing to do is to make sure your skin stays clean and you use a non clogging basic lotion for your skin type. Hormonal acne is one of those things that will not go away with things like witch hazel or tea tree which can dry you out and make you breakout later on. Let it ride. It sucks for me too. I had perfect skin until I got KU and now the acne is crazy but I do not pick at it, I keep it clean, keep hydrated and if it's really bad, cover up while I'm at work.

What cleanser do you use? I always used acne medicine cleansers, and I don't know what to use now. I don't really wear makeup much so I don't need that.

I use dermalogica special cleansing gel. It's the only one I've used that makes me feel the cleanest and it's made for all skin types.

    Thanks! I'll try that :)
  • They have a cloth that is called the make up eraser. It's great if you don't want to use cleansers and it takes your make up off so easy!

I'm using the Perricone cold plasma moisturizer which makes my skin super clear and glowy :)
  • My back and chest are breaking out like crazy!
  • Had really bad exczema on my hands and chest. Wasnt sure if I could use the topical steroid cream I usually use and went to see my doctor. He said it was fine but also prescribed a milder one (desonide cream 0.05%). I've been using that one and it cleared up :)
Also learned that my grandma had bad eczema while pregnant, maybee its genetical?
  • @adiaz132003 which specific cleanser?

A friend said she had glycolic peels which really helped clear her skin when she was pregnant. Anyone try that?
  • @adiaz132003 do you have any recommendations as far as any non-pore clogging makeup? I wash my face every night before bed and every morning and apply a moisturizer, but I think the root of my problem might be my makeup. I don't have cystic acne or the red flareups - my problem is comedones (I think that's what they're called) on my chin and along my jawline. No matter how clean and moisturized I keep my face, I can't seem to get rid of them. I'm assuming my makeup is just keeping my pores clogged. I work in a professional envirionment, so I need to wear at least some makeup!
  • I have oily, acne-prone skin normally, and I'm anticipating more breakouts as my pregnancy progresses (only 4 wks now).

I'll read up on the dermalogica cleanser you mentioned, @adiaz132003. My skin is pretty responsive to benzoyl peroxide, but I switched to a mild salicylic acid cleanser by Alba Botanica while TTC. Based on the reading I've done those are 2 ingredients to limit/avoid while pregnant, so need an alternative to take care of this pizza face nonsense. *Off to Ulta I go*

Will be watching this thread for sure!
  • Ahh, yes my back especially!!! I never had problems with my back before!!!

  • I really like Belli products! I started using it face was during my last pregnancy and heat it up I've the last 8 months because of breast feeding... I'll continue with this pregnancy. It is expensive but a little goes a long way

  • @mrsschmity mineral makeup clogs more. I like tinted moisturizers best and remember to wash it off as soon as you get home.

@RMM1204 "dermalogica special cleansing gel" is the name of the cleanser. They also have "ultra calming cleanser" if you tend to get irritated from other skincare products
  • @crdo you are correct those are to be avoided

@mrsschmity I'll add that comedones can also be caused by not using the right exfoliant or using the wrong moisturizer. Unless you go to see an esthitician there's no way to know which one it is unless you just try to address each possibility one at a time and keep in mind, it takes a couple weeks to see a change once you switch products or routine.
  • I love the belli hydration!!!! get it on amazon!!!

@mrszoess I use the cleanser, hydration and spot treatment (my monthly break outs came back when my period came back) the spot treatment really dries out.

What I love is that I know it is safe for me, my new LO in my belly and my DS who is 9 moths and breastfeeding.

  • Oh my I already wrote that :-\" I think being pregnant with a little one who still wakes me to feed is really going to be rough... Ha ha! Sorry!

  • Biggest thing - make sure you're double cleansing if you wear makeup. You really need an oil or balm cleanser to remove makeup properly followed by a foam or cream cleanser to clean the skin (the old skincare saying 'don't take a shower with your clothes still on'). Then follow with a hydrating and/or cream
  • What's a good body lotion to use? Before I got pregnant I used Burt's Bee's but it's made me break out in hives! My legs and feet are starting to get dry and rough.
  • Thanks @hillanne87 for the Belli suggestion- I absolutely love their stuff! Plus I got 15% off and free shipping :-bd

I broke down and bought the Belli system last night! Woohoo!

@jjmartinezz: I use Burt's Bees Milk and Honey, so that won't be much help since you said it caused a reaction. I noticed Belli makes a body lotion, or I've read Weleda makes a nice body lotion (whole foods)?
  • Thanks for the tip! Any suggestions on lotion for someone with sensative skin?

  • I feel like I am back in high school with these breakouts! Good grief oh well also my cheeks have been flushing a lot as well so I look embarrassed often as well anyone else experienced that?

  • @Lindsayleigh1989 - I tried this recipe for making my own face cream and really like it:

It's a little annoying as if you're not in an area with a lot of 'natural' food stores these products can be a little tricky to find. I was able to find them at Sprouts and the Co-op in my area though.

Also, I've been using apple cider vinegar on my face. It's smelly but helps with reducing the redness from the acne. If you're skin is really sensitive I'd recommend starting with a mix of 50/50 apple cider vinegar to water, put it on a cotton ball, then wipe over your face. (Most people don't mind the smell too much, but my DH calls me "foot face" when I use it. lol)

  • Any R&F consultants/clients? I've been dealing with adult hormonal acne since I got off birth control 3 years ago. Right before I got pregnant, I was about to try Unblemish, but put it on hold until I can find out if it's safe. I've heard some rumors it's safe as long as you don't use the spot fading toner which had salicylic acid...the primary wash is a sulfur active ingredient. Can any consultants or clients shed light on this?
  • @b2fkygirl I'd say the only thing you can use would be the wash cause everything else has stuff that I wouldn't recommend. But even the wash could dry you out and the key to hormonal acne is not to dry it out but to keep it really clean and use calming ingredients.

Yes!!!!! It is so annoying! I always look embarrassed in meetings lately and I'm not! The second I'm even kinda hot my cheeks are bright red. So odd.

  • So glad I'm not the only one! Getting big liquidy whiteheads.....gross! This is what a lepper must feel like, I'm one step away from buying a bell....lol. The worst is you can't buy belli in the uk unless you want to pay 4x the price on Amazon. Any girls got any other suggestions for stuff I can get here?
