So my MIL just hinted that she thinks I'm further along than I actually am. And by this, she is most likely accusing me of cheating on my husband. I was with my husband in April and in July, he lives in Egypt. Either she is claiming I am 6 months pregnant (and somehow not showing at all) or I am pregnant with someone else's child. I don't know how to deal with this. She lives in Egypt as well and prior to the pregnancy announcement she was constantly talking about how she was looking forward to become a grandma. Now that we've announced it, she does not seem thrilled the least. It's quite hurtful.

Is it possible that she's hurting because she's in Egypt and you (and your husband) will be in Europe raising her grandchild? Is she close to H and maybe feels like you're taking him away? I know some moms have a really hard time with wives becoming more important to their sons than they are themselves, which could especially be an issue if he's lived near enough to visit her regularly all the rest of his life.
Also, what country are you in again? I want to say Sweeden but that may be my brain making things up!

I do live in Sweden, that is correct! Hopefully moving back to Denmark again in the spring before giving birth. I would feel very uncomfortable giving birth in Sweden as I am not fluent in swedish and my family is in Denmark. So your brain was correct! :P
Well DH and his mother have a somewhat weird relationship. He's an only child and his mother is very protective of him. She has always adored me and always treated me like her daughter which is why her behavior now caught me by surprise. My husband is not very fond of his mother on the other hand sadly due to a lot of family drama and neglect from her side. I don't really blame him for not wanting to involve his mother in his life but she is very lonely. So you might be right, with him moving back to Europe she will once again be on her own. She did say she would come to attend the birth and hopefully she would have come around by then.

Well, I've never met a grandma who could resist her own grandchild. Being rude to you should be an obvious roadblock but if she doesn't realize it, you could always ask your husband to talk to her about it. You are the mother of your child, and anyone who wants to be part of baby's life is going to have to go through you.
My mom was LIVID for about a week, I didn't speak to her for another week after she cooled down, and last night she informed me that she and my dad plan to visit when LO is born. They just can't resist...plus they'll be in a hotel, so I will be able to sleep in peace.
My company is providing us with hamburgers and hotdogs today for lunch. They're grilling in the courtyard outside of my office and my A/C just kicked on and now the delicious smell of grill burgers is pumping into my office. I am so hungry but lunch isn't ready yet.
Anyone know where I can get nipple pads and lanolin? I work with several ladies who are KU and due soon, so I'm thinking of putting together useful baskets of things like A&D, nipple pad thingies (not sure what the real name is), lanolin, etc. for their work sprinkles. Also, any suggestions from mamas with LOs already here would be awesome!
You can get disposable breast pads at target. I highly recommend earth mama angel baby nipple better over lanolin. Imagine cold hard peanut butter being spread on your nips vs lip balm or room temp butter.
First BFP 12/2012, MMC at 9 weeks
Second BFP 6/2013, resulted in DS, born 2/23/14 :-)
Third BFP 5/2015, natural MC at 6 weeks
Fourth BFP 8/2015, hoping for sticky little brother or sister to H!
Proud SAHM to our little monkey H.
Pro Vax, extended breasftfeeder, ring sling and stroller loving mama. I don't judge you unless you don't vaccinate!

Target, buy buy baby, Amazon - they should all have them.

I like peanut butter, but not on my nipples...not even when I'm feeling frisky. Thanks!

Just found out that our insurance plan is getting way better in 2016 - like deductible down by 18% and max OOP down 22%! We're on a high deductible HSA so even with the annual increase in monthly cost that's almost $700 we expected to have to pay!
I ate Jimmy Johns today and I feel all guilty. I have felt really nauseous ever since I ate it and I don't know if it's all in my head or if I'm sick from it or what.

@RoseShadow873 I wouldn't feel guilty, I have a slight obsession with Jersey Mikes and Firehouse Subs at the moment. I refuse to eat JJ though. I always feel sick after eating there. Not sure if it's their meat or mayo or something about their food preparation process, but I've sworn off them.
It's five am... I just want to breathe through my nose again so I can sleep! Also my skin on my nose, and under it is so raw now I look like Rudolf. Walgreens needs to open sooner dammit!

Not why I've sworn them off. I refuse to help the ceo with his hunting addiction. Everyone remembers Cecil, no one pays attention to this guy hunting elephants, and other animals once a year for fun.
@RoseShadow873 I didn't know until a few weeks ago that people eat jimmy john's sober haha. I prefer Firehouse as well, but I wouldn't get stuck feeling guilty if I did eat JJ. I'm sure I'll mess up my kid in far worse ways than eating a sandwich while pregnant. And I probably won't know about them until his or her principle calls me into the office to talk to me about my child's behavior. Long story short, do what you can to protect your baby while you can; don't smoke, don't go get trashed every night, don't cliff dive. But if you're cracking a cold, eat the damn sandwich. No mother in the history of time has ever been perfect.

This may be a UO but.. as long as it isn't illegal poaching, I don't care too much about anybody's hunting practices honestly. I actually felt incredibly sorry for the poor guy who shot that lion - the only reason a majority of people showed any concern was because they gave the big cat a name and it humanized him, and (while it may be in poor taste to participate in such hunting activities) I think it was really awful to ruin the man's professional/personal life for it. While I personally do not hunt and would definitely not participate in big game hunting, I don't see the allure of all the hoopla surrounding these cases. I'm sure there are other CEOs doing much more deplorable things than legal big game hunting once a year.
In other news.. I'm still thinking about sandwiches. I like Penn Station quite a bit, we have a Firehouse in town but I've never been there. May have new lunch plans now..

I LOVE this. No one cared about the lion before he was named Cecil and villagers celebrated his death because there was one less lion hunting down their children.
I grew up butchering cattle, hogs, and chickens. I didn't have store-bought meat, other than going out to supper, until I was around 21. When I lived in Wisconsin, I took part in hunting, especially deer. Deer are a nuisance there and destroy crops, thereby destroying the livelihood of the majority of people there including my own family. I only disagree when animals are killed purely for sport. If the meat is processed for consumption, that's the food chain.

Side note: I like Firehouse better anyway...
*Edit: Because CEO and not owner. Also here is linkage for anyone interested

I did not know about that! How horrible! That is not an UO! Regardless of the legality, it should not be legal to hunt elephants or other species that are so threatened. It is only "legal" because Africa is full of corruption. Even if something is legal anyway it does not make it right. I would think the UO would be feeling ok about people killing elephants. I am so sad about this. I don't think I can eat there again. I know it was never very good to begin with but there are not many food options where I live. I don't think the mayo made me feel sick though because I never get mayo on my food.
@RoseShadow873@Knottie9983816 - Just wondering, for the sake of conversation, do you guys have similar strong feelings about circuses and zoos? There are certain camps of thought that are equally against these institutions because they think they promote abuse/mistreatment of elephants/big cats for a variety of reasons.
(I don't have strong feelings about them either way, was JW).

I don't know anything about circuses; I thought they no longer had animal circuses in the US? For zoos I think it depends on the zoo. I don't think I have a problem with a zoo that works hard to keep their animals happy, because while I may feel sorry for individual animals living in zoos since they are not living as they would in the wild, I think that they are helping the rest of their species overall since much research is done through zoos and, more importantly, I believe that humans being able to actually see these animals increases the likelihood that they will care about their conservation in the wild.

I love Jimmy johns ! I could really get out of hand on this topic but I'll try to keep it mild.
Mmmmmn venison sausage . I can skin a deer with the best of them ! And raccoon because my dad used to sell the pelts when I was a kid. The raccoons would get in the hayloft and poop and pee all over our straw and hay and it can make the animals sick so we would trap them and if they were small we would drive a few miles out and release them , but the others we would get rid of. They are mean and cause disease just like opossums and coyote. I enjoy shooting coyotes to be honest . Being that they have killed numerous cats and one of our dogs I've shot 2 right off my back porch . Not proud or or ashamed it's just what has to happen when they are over populated.
Not even an ounce of me feels bad for it. I also have a permit to carry and am a registered RO so my firearm is always close.

Man...I can't imagine raccoon being very good. I've had a lot of rabbit and squirrel, especially in soup. My brother and I used to ride on the deck of the combine and shoot them while Dad picked the soybeans and corn.

I do, and SeaWorld, and petting zoo. We do still have circuses with animals in the US unfortunately. My mother is vegan and posts things from Peta and a variety of other animal activist sites all the time in Facebook. It became too distressing to continue following her, so I stopped. I still eat meat, and dairy, and wear fur (just kidding I'm too poor for that last one) but I still don't agree with hunting for sport.
@jonesl12 There is a huge difference between pest management and hunting for sport. I also enjoy venison, and gator tail, but I would never kill an animal just for the "thrill of the chase" or for a trophy. You hunt to protect yourself, or for food, otherwise you're just being an a**. Also, if you're ever in central FL, feel free to take care of the raccoons who keep eating the seeds out of my garden. I've been soaking sponges in bacon grease and burying them in hopes that they'll eat those instead, but nothing seems to be working...

I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. It's not an easy or safe job, and it's way under-appreciated. My dad recently retired because his knees just won't take manual labor anymore. He's had too many accidents to count and recently lost his ring finger. 38 years and mom finally cost him something He still drives tractor for my brother but he's just getting too old to safely do much else. I will say, for a man of few words he is funny as hell when he's high on morphine.

We have a ranch in Altoona Florida actually lol it's kinda central ?mom brings the horses down jan-March and hits the rodeo circuit down south.
Raccoons love cat food. Wet cat food in a can is like crack for them. If you get a live no/kill trap you can just bait it and release the mean bastards somewhere else or trap them and well you know the rest. But seriously cheap ass cat food is the money

Also, please please please tell me you get why this is relevant:
Haha we didn't eat the raccoon lol I've never had squirrel but I've had rabbit and it tastes like chicken lol
My dad farmed soybeans and corn too. he passed away in a farming accident but my mom and uncle still farm .
It's the most dangerous job on the planet!! My dad had a hand injury as well he lived with since he was in highschool. He had to learn to write with the opposite hand . My dad was a man of few words also and worked his ass off for pennies just to keep food on our table . must be a farmer thing
Not why I've sworn them off. I refuse to help the ceo with his hunting addiction. Everyone remembers Cecil, no one pays attention to this guy hunting elephants, and other animals once a year for fun.

For real! They're the reason I'm not stressing about not having as much money put away as I had wanted: if he could feed 6 kids as a farmer (mom was an RN, a profession which paid less than bagging groceries when they were newly married) on what little he made, I'll be fine. I had two sticks and a rock for toys and I turned out sarcastic and blunt, but ok overall.
Soooooo today I have an elective ultrasound and have high hopes for finding out baby's sex!!! Elective places in Canada don't take you in or tell you the sex before 18 weeks and I'm 17, but because my parents are visiting from Brazil and leave tomorrow I convinced them to take me in at 17w. Although they can't verbally tell me the sex at 17 weeks, I told them they can just show me between the legs and I'll figure it out myself. Here's hoping baby cooperates! I'm so anxious I woke up at 5am! Lol.

How exciting!! Fingers crossed the little one cooperates!
Just found out that our insurance plan is getting way better in 2016 - like deductible down by 18% and max OOP down 22%! We're on a high deductible HSA so even with the annual increase in monthly cost that's almost $700 we expected to have to pay!
Whelp, spoke too soon. DH came home with a severance packet yesterday - they're surprise cutting his department after Christmas (good news, he's paid and insurance goes through Jan even though Christmas -Jan 3 are holidays). They're apparently opening a spot in his old dept that should reasonably be his (he's second in experience with that dept and #1 said she wouldn't be applying) so hopefully it ends up just a job change, but as of now we'll be paying COBRA like 6x as much monthly starting in March (end of severance period). Unless he gets the other position or finds another job before then of course. Hopefully we'll know more in the next few weeks. Thank goodness for well funded HSAs in the meantime!
Re: **The Everything Random Thread for April Mamas**
Also, what country are you in again? I want to say Sweeden but that may be my brain making things up!

Target, buy buy baby, Amazon - they should all have them.
Side note: I like Firehouse better anyway...
*Edit: Because CEO and not owner. Also here is linkage for anyone interested

Long story short, do what you can to protect your baby while you can; don't smoke, don't go get trashed every night, don't cliff dive. But if you're cracking a cold, eat the damn sandwich. No mother in the history of time has ever been perfect.

(I don't have strong feelings about them either way, was JW).

My dad recently retired because his knees just won't take manual labor anymore. He's had too many accidents to count and recently lost his ring finger. 38 years and mom finally cost him something

Raccoons love cat food. Wet cat food in a can is like crack for them. If you get a live no/kill trap you can just bait it and release the mean bastards somewhere else or trap them and well you know the rest. But seriously cheap ass cat food is the money
I'm so anxious I woke up at 5am! Lol.
