Just found out that our insurance plan is getting way better in 2016 - like deductible down by 18% and max OOP down 22%! We're on a high deductible HSA so even with the annual increase in monthly cost that's almost $700 we expected to have to pay!

Whelp, spoke too soon. DH came home with a severance packet yesterday - they're surprise cutting his department after Christmas (good news, he's paid and insurance goes through Jan even though Christmas -Jan 3 are holidays). They're apparently opening a spot in his old dept that should reasonably be his (he's second in experience with that dept and #1 said she wouldn't be applying) so hopefully it ends up just a job change, but as of now we'll be paying COBRA like 6x as much monthly starting in March (end of severance period). Unless he gets the other position or finds another job before then of course. Hopefully we'll know more in the next few weeks. Thank goodness for well funded HSAs in the meantime!
Oh my gosh, good luck! Sounds like he has a good chance at the new position though...FX!

Yep, I'm hoping he'll be able to stay within the company and have nothing change, but there are also a few other companies hiring nearby for his job (bio/chemist) so it could be a great chance for him to look into other companies - I just hate the timing! Sigh.

New position should open in the next few weeks and he'll start applying elsewhere in town soon too. Staying within the company sounds promising right now, but he really didn't enjoy the old position so he's debating how much he wants to stay. The benefits and location are great, but the work (quality control) is much less "sciency" than he is now used to (new product creation/testing). It could be a great opportunity to change his specialty to something more medical or lab based, but that's a scarier change. He's very logical and emotional decision making drives him nuts, so it's hard seeing him trying to process the emotional side of this since it factors into if he wants to stay or not.

When I wake up in the morning this is the first thing I see: my furry, cuddly little Cheddar laying on my chest/ belly. Love this guy so much!

My cat is the same way - he's a Maine coon so he already weighs about 20 pounds. You can't lay on your back in my house without him perching on your chest, waiting for scratches. He's started incubating baby in the last few weeks, too...but mostly he wants to be rubbed.
  • Question for other petite, triangle-shaped ladies - how do y'all find maternity clothes that fit? I'm good on pants because my bottom half is apparently a normal size for a pregnant lady. I have narrow shoulders and a small bust, so small tops don't fit. I asked a lady at a maternity store if they carried XS and she looked at me like I had breathed fire out of my nose. Anyone else with this problem - have you found places that can fit your top half or am I doomed to being that pregnant, 12-year-old looking girl in the Junior's section?

I have another cat, Matty, but he only cuddles when there is no competition (ie: when Cheddar and my 2 dogs are sleeping and he doesn't have to fight for cuddling space). Love these furries so much!

I'm also smaller on top and wider on the hips so whatever fits my hips is big on my waist, and the other way around. For this reason my usual pants still fit me now despite a bigger belly.
I have been using lots of leggings and loose tops/ tunics, and also stretchy dresses and sweater dresses -so far I have not had to buy a single maternity clothing item.

Ugh. It is SO hard to find XS in maternity! I (unfortunately when it comes to maternity) wear XS/ 0 or 2 on both bottom and top, and I feel your pain completely. I made the mistake of checking local consignment stores for petites, or at least XS (I typically can wear a regular XS on top). Um, nope. Nothing smaller than size small/4.
My mom is an avid eBayer and was having trouble helping me as well. Apparently no one buys and resells those sizes!
Have you checked online at LOFT? I have had good luck with them, Old Navy and Gap.

    ETA a few more thoughts.

I wouldn't say I'm petite, but I'm very tall and what fits my hips won't go well with my waist. Like @thaisac1 I have not bought any maternity clothes either so far, only bought a long wool sweater dress I use with warm tights for the cold Scandinavian winter coming and mainly been wearing long sweaters with leggings as well :)

  • Have you thought about non maternity clothes that could work for maternity clothes? A lot of empire waist shirts or just shirts that are supposed to run baggy in general and then add a belt. Does target have xs? I think they might.

I'm a triangle over here too. I searched during my last pregnancy for xs maternity shirts. I received the same looks haha. I resorted to just wearing my normal shirts with long camis band then regular shirts in a bigger size when they got too tight. I was finally able to wear real maternity shirts around 7-8 months.
  • I don't know what you mean by triangle, but I am small everywhere but my butt. I am wearing non-maternity big shirts that I have but I don't know what I will do when they stop fitting because I have also noticed even small maternity shirts are huge seeming. I was hoping my belly would just get that big too? I got maternity pants at Goodwill that fit although the belly part seems loose right now and wants to fall down.
  • @RoseShadow873 I mean that I'm narrow in the shoulders no matter how much I work out and have wide hips and a big booty. A friend was teasing me last night that my baby weight is going to my butt, and she's right - my hips have gotten wider, my butt has gotten even bigger, and I have a little belly...but my shoulders and chest are too small to properly wear small maternity shirts.

@NachosAndPeaches I'm actually en route to target now...I'll have to check it out. Thank you everyone!

Based on your description let me correct myself... I guess I am not triangle shaped afterall. I have super broad shoulders. :) But generally wider below the waist than above it.
  • @AmadorRose I'm just headed out the door and snapped this pic so you can see how I still wear my regular clothes despite a growing bump. I have a ton of dresses/ sweater dresses like this that will accommodate a growing belly, I wear it with leggings or pantyhose. I anticipate I can still grow for a couple of months before I have to to buy maternity gear.
  • @AmadorRose Target and Old Navy both have XS maternity! Our ON doesn't have in store maternity, so I had to order online and Target has more online than in store, but they exist! I'm usually a 2/XS and found that almost all maternity runs big (target 2 maternity literally fell off me at 6 months with DD) but they had 0s and XS in their pants that were online only.
I agree with @NachosAndPeaches though too - aim for long and loose/stretchy regular tops instead of actual maternity. It's nice to have some "real" clothes that still fit post partum and they're usually way cheaper than the up-priced maternity stuff.

I LOVE sweater dresses but it's always too hot in Texas :( I was very toned before getting pregnant so the majority of my clothes are too fitted for me to be comfortable in - they may be cute when I have a real bump, but today is not that day. Thankfully I wear a uniform to work and the few pieces I have should be enough to get me through a while. I was just so disappointed by all the adorable clothes that I couldn't buy! Haha

  • I hope this baby is a better napper than DD. No nap days are for the birds.

Also, Grandma sent her home in training pants and she peed into her (leather) shoes... any thoughts on cleaning them? I tried cleaning the insides with a soapy washcloth, but they still smell like pee.

I second the sweater dress dilemma in Florida! Why are you selling them before November at all Target? So annoying when larger stores don't do better market research for the areas they are in... I'm sure other places feel the same when you start seeing bathing suits being sold in February.

@Knottie9983816 - I live in Indiana. We got almost 10" of snow in March of this year, and Target did start putting out bikinis in February.. Annoying indeed.

Yup. It doesn't bother me as much with adult sizes because they don't change as often, but kids clothes, ugh. They just put out their toddler long sleeves a week or two ago - um, it's been in the 40s for over a month now, my kid needs sleeves. And if she hits a growth spurt I'll probably need to buy her a few in the next size by Feb/March (when it's still snowing and 10 degrees outside) but by then they'll be stocking shorts and spring dresses.

  • @NachosAndPeaches - We buy a lot of DS clothes at Kohls lately - mostly mix and match athletic wear (like underarmour type material, only mostly their Jumping Beans line because things get destroyed at age 4-5 and I'm not shelling out big bucks for things to be ruined). When he was smaller he was so much fun to dress in the fall - I'm a sucker for those teeny flannel shirts and sweaters, oh my. Anymore in the mornings, it's like - okay throw this on! Close enough to matching! Make sure your pants are long enough that they can't see your wacky socks!

Tip - Target and Kohls run AWESOME end of season sales on kids clothes. If you coupon a bit, you can totally get a good jump on essentials for next year in a size or two up.

Man I wish I could do this! DD will be 17 mo on Friday and I just put away her 9 month clothes 2 weeks ago. I have no idea when she'll start wearing anything 18 month, much less what she'll be wearing in a year. Maybe once we get up into the "T"s... Sigh.

It's still early to expect constant movement from LO. I was sick from Sunday through Thursday last week and went from daily movement to nothing the entire time. I'm sure everything is fine, love. When is your next appointment?

Oh Hun, this is so frustrating and scary. You're so early for consistent movement. I didn't even feel any at all til after 20 weeks with DS. It's so rare to experience a loss this late, and you've had healthy ultrasounds right? Good size and heartbeat?

When's your next appointment? If you're freaking or can you request a Quick Doppler check at your dr? Statistically it's so rare anything would happen this late in the game
