I thought it might be nice to have a thread to chat about the homemade touches the folks on this board are preparing (or would like to prepare) to welcome our little ones home. Whether you knit, crochet, cross-stitch, sew, macrame, build furniture, build things out of popsicle sticks, paint, or just drool over projects on Pinterest, I'm interested in hearing what everyone's got going on.
Progress pictures as your projects move along would also be fantastic!
For me, project number one is knitting two of the Hue Shift Afghan pattern from Knitpicks, one for my little one and one for a friend who is due seven weeks later. Project number two is a bit more nebulous: I've promised my husband that he can have a disco ball mobile for baby (since I won't let him install one anywhere else in our home), but I'm starting to suspect I might have to build it myself, since I can't seem to find one to purchase. This could be interesting...
Re: Crafty Mamas?
What kind of crafting are y'all into? I dabble in everything but I'm dying to crochet some cute hats and cocoons for LO, as sewing can get tedious for me and I'm not very good at knitting.
I have been waiting for the anatomy scan to start sewing for the baby. Intil then, I have been focused on making a lot of clothes that I can lounge comfortably and breastfeed in. Usually after I have the baby, I have nothing decent to wear. I am determined to have comfy nursing clothes this time around.
After I find out the sex of the baby, then I have to sew a newb and 0-3 mo layette.
I have also been sewing my own maternity clothes this time around. I have made about 4 or 5 tee shirts and some comfy leggings.
When I get pregnant, I become a sew-a-holic
I would love love to see what other moms are doing too.
As soon as we know the sex and I can pick out "theme" colors (DD was yellow and gray for her quilt from her Nana, month stickers, photo book etc) I will be making this baby month stickers and probably a prop for the pictures.
In the meantime, I'm working on crocheting a stuffed Loki doll for my sister for Christmas. So far it's a head and neck - at this rate it may be for next Christmas :-SS
I got a lined leather (almost like vinyl) so they are soft inside.

Will have to specify for this new LO not to make bubble shorts but a diaper cover.
Or do you mean like to sell on Etsy?
Not sure if this counts, but my mom and I are going to find a dresser and bookshelf at a yard sale and transform them for our Dr. Seuss themed nursery.
