I know there are a lot of dog moms here so I was wondering how you manage with having a dog and a baby in the car? Do you have a separate area in your car for the dog? Do you use a harness? I bought one but it doesn't keep her in one place, it's not restrictive enough. I'm just wondering what is the best option in case I ever need to have both in the car... What do you all do/plan on doing? Sorry if this is a stupid question...

Not dumb at all. We have an SUV so my husband rigged a cage using pvc pipes and attached it to the back seat so the dogs could have free run of the back and kids in the middle of the car. It worked well. What kind of car do you have?

@PinkSunglasses16 I hope you have more self control than I would! Can't wait to hear the news!
@ ecwk That's actually a good question that I have never thought about.
@SarahFoley725 I get what you mean about not having anyone IRL at the same stage in life as you. I wish I had a bump buddie or a mom friend of young children.
Oh and for my random exciting small news of the day: DH started the first fire of the season in our wood stove and had it all stoked up when I got home. Aahhhhhmazing. Love coming home to a toasty home on a cold, wet day.
I've been wearing sweaters/sweatshirts for weeks, but just got out of the shower, threw on a t-shirt, looked in the mirror and noticed that my belly button is obviously visible through my shirt. Yay for that weird milestone! Haha.
Married 7.29.05 :: DD1 5.11.10 :: DD2 1.23.13 :: Baby Boy due 3.13.16!
@PinkSunglasses16 congrats!!!! @skruhmin my dog is a mellow little 10lbr...so we never had any issues. I've seen some setups that sound similar to what was suggested, as well as rope cage type of dividers to separate the back from the middle.
Holy moly the baby shower thread. Who even are those people? Haha
I was wondering the same. Maybe I've missed them around this BMB or something! It sure seems a strange way to get involved in this community, though, by telling reg posters to calm down and things like that....
1. I have been trying to get caught up on this thread. I'm so sad I have missed so much!
2. DH just found 2 adults and 3 baby mice all dead in our shop vac in the garage with a pile of dog food. I don't know why but it has made me so upset. I cried! Obviously I don't want a family of mice in my house but they probably thought they were safe in there with all of their food. Poor things.
Now I feel ridiculous. Thanks goodness for a random thread.
On a side note, I swear I normally don't care when there are new threads about topics that have already been discussed (unless they're on the first page) but as of lately, my pregnancy hormones must be going crazy because I want to rip my hair out with all the random threads that have have been started recently and have same topics that have been discussed 73638201038644920 times!!!
(Someone help a sister out with the appropriate gif here...my phone has decided not to mobile gif)
Hormones do suck, I started crying earlier cause my 2 year old yelled at me. He screeches when he gets frustrated and I know that. But I got so mad for some stupid reason and then started to cry. Then I rolled my eyes at myself and got over it
@skruhmin would you be willing to post a picture of what you have done on the inside of car? I have three dogs who I regularly take places with me. I've looked in to buying something for the back of our jeep but would much rather make something my self.
I am patiently waiting for that one text message from my husband this morning... my heart is jumping into my throat every time he texts me and its not the response I'm waiting for...
I got home from work last night to find my daughter had put a new sheet cover on the couch, fluffed the couch pillows, cleaned off the dining room table and wiped it down, scrubbed dishes and wiped the counters down too. She even had the fan blowing because the cleaner that I have makes me sick so she wanted to circulate the air so it didn't bother me
She got mad because DH is a SLOB and a half, and no matter what we do to remedy this issue he manages to be a pig anyway! She scolded him last night and told him he is not allowed to do anything in the kitchen anymore but make sandwiches, and if he can't put the bread away and rinse out his tuna cans like a big boy he won't even be able to do that! He ignored her and made leftovers that were in the fridge for dinner. So today she has decided she is going to fix him good. She has rubber-banded the sprayer trigger down so when he attempts to do anything at the sink, he will get sprayed in the face! And she removed all the knobs off the stove so he can't cook with it! He is the one that thinks soup is done cooking when it boils out of the pot all over the stove and then doesn't clean it up, and he is like that with other things he cooks. Its soo gross, and we both are sick of cleaning up after him!
She had me dying of laughter so hard this morning, and now I'm just waiting for that special WTF text message! Lol

@skruhmin thanks for reply it's a Toyota RAV4. It has a big-ish trunk...I wonder if I could do something with it that would work!
They also make those dog guards in metal and cloth that look like this:
Our dog is smaller and she is actually really good in the car. So she just always laid on the seat next to DD. Now that DD is older the dog will sit next to her so DD can pet her and share her snacks, LOL
Our dog sits up front with us. When he is with just me and DD (she still sits in the back) we have him trained to sit in the passenger seat and not crawl onto the driver's lap(he's a doxie)- we purposely push the seat as far forward as it can go so he can stick his head out the window (jeeps have tiny windows and he needs that extra boost lol). When DH is with me he sits on DH's lap. Once in a great while he will sit in the back with DD but it doesn't usually last too long and he is back up front. He also doesn't like going for long car rides- he will whine the whole way no matter where we go- but he usually whines when he knows we are going to Gwamma's (how he pronounces it lol) or Petco (or Mc Donalds LOL) too so we really don't know just how far he can handle before he gets whiney. The most we travel with him is about 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours to visit my uncle or take him hiking. He loves the hikes just not so much the car rides- and we do stop so he can have pee breaks.

Yeah... before TB got so puppies and rainbows people would have been all over that like, "stop consulting the internet and get to your freaking doctor, WTF"
It's either one or the other it seems like. "I blacked out and figured that was probably fine until days later when I asked the internet." Then there's the "I'm not having any caffeine and I am scared that I crave things with food coloring." Um, what? I am trying to be nice but yeesh, common sense people...

As silly as I thought it was, I could somewhat sympathize with the food coloring girl. She's just trying to do whats best for her kid...
Now this girl...at what point did you think hmmm I'm not eating that might not be good for me or my baby?? I blacked out! WHAT?!?

This is exactly it, except jerry rigged with pvc pipe and zip ties (I think that's what my husband did). And we have two big labs it held back.

What the fresh hell is that about?? I only come to this thread, to see what you are all laughing at, then I go to those threads and laugh too. It's the best way to pick and choose what to read up on. BRB...
@kynbar RIGHT?! RIGHT?! idek what emoji face to make about that. or how to reply. i really don't mean to be mean, but i would have probably put it in the symptoms thread, or the questions thread, or even here. but not a whole new post on the first dang page LOL

When I feel things in my body, I can usually pinpoint the cause pretty easily. My pelvis shifts when I walk. I wonder if she's feeling baby kicks downwards... Those feel like pops to me.
@jmathi0149 i am sorry! i can completely empathize with your feelings. that is the type of thing that would have me crying every time i thought about it, even when not pregnant. i absolutely cannot stand the thought of stuff like that happening, even to pests. if i go to kill a bug in the house and i don't completely get it the first time, i feel terrible. i know i am a bit overly tenderhearted, but i hate to think of any living creature suffering at all. so just, hugs i guess.

My gosh you ladies crack me up too with pointing out the "interesting" threads!!!! Lmao!
Btw, I'm 20w today (banana!) and AS is tomorrow! So excited!!! Also, that doggy cage separator thing is what I've seen too, as well as in a rope cagey way, which I think is a bit gentler for them if they grab onto or bump into it while on the road.
