Re: TTTC Checkin 10/5/2015

  • Well, we didn't go to the baby shower..... lol we had a million excuses lined up in our heads, but not ONE person in our huge family called or texted to see if we were on the way or why we didn't make it.....so we didn't use any of them. Hmmm . Very weird for such a huge close family. It actually was like salt in the wound bc Noone noticed.
So we binged on netflix instead of oooohhhhing and ahhhhhing over baby stuff that isn't ours. Bitter? Yes I am. Jealous? Yup! I thought I was over all this!!!! I guess it is hard bc we are both in laws to this family and all she does is talk crap about them and how they are poor, but gladly took tons of gifts from people who spent their last dollar on her. If she complains about any of it, I'll prob lose my mind. Does the bump have a collective bail fund? ;-)

  • That's great @AshleySchulte87 that Canada is now offering a free ivf per couple. Glad to hear you can get on that list! I suppose it's another reason I should move to Canada...seems like everything there is so much more reasonable when it comes to health care and costs!

Yeah @emgem819 We are very fortunate for sure. It was a complete shock to hear that announcement - I know it's been talked about a lot and I know they have been thinking of assisting couples with fertility problems through IVF. However, never thought it would come about. But this is only in Ontario. Elsewhere in Canada, it's not an option as of right now.

I have joined the infertility board in order to lurk around and find out with IVF really entails. Anxiously waiting to find out, how far down the list I am - hopefully not too far down.
Me:28 (PCOS, DOR), DH: 32 (low morphology)

    2013-2014 - 6 rounds of Clomid - BFNs

October 2015 - wait listed for IVF #1
IVF #1 March 2016 - bfn, zero frosties!
Femara cycle 1 May 2016 - POAS starting May 21st / beta testing May 25th....

  • @lablover78 thanks! I try to remind myself to be positive. Sometimes it's hard though.

@AshleySchulte87 that is awesome! Hope it's not a long wait for you.

    **PREGNANCY/BABY MENTIONED** (just in case)
We'll today I went to visit a friend who is inspirational in this regards... 10 years of trying to have a baby with nothing, then they stop and go back to using protection and all of a sudden she's pregnant. She is probably the only pregnant/new mother I can be around without being upset because she gets it. Her baby is 2 months old now. So yea, I got to snuggle a cutie and rant about the lack of progress and have her support, which was awesome.

Ahhhh I can't wait to find out these test results! I don't know what they could do, considering his blood tests came back normal, but hopefully they can do somethin!

  • @starlitfae I am sorry to hear you are going through this. I hope you get some good news tomorrow. My DH is getting a SA tomorrow...he's 42 and has been fertile enough to have a child (my stepson who's 9 now) but we wanted to make sure before we put more money out there. I've been hearing so many mixed results on if those tests really are accurate..wondering why this is? How do those "fluke" high counts happen? I have a friend whose DH got very low counts and they chanced it and she got pregnant right away! Just don't get it.

  • @AshleySchulte87 I also live in Ontario and we just finished our 3rd iui and still waiting for results. Our RE said he would do 3 iui's and then only other option would be IVF so I was so thankful to hear the announcement from the government but I hadn't heard anything about a list? Was that just through your clinic?
  • @Rebeccalmc when they announced it I went onto my fertility clinic website to find out details of the IVF funding. I am roughly an hour away from my clinic. I go to the Ottawa fertility clinic, and they had a notice on their website for current clients of the clinic and how to go about getting onto their list. Since they anticipate a high influx of patients interested - they are taking names of those who want it and will review your "chart" I'm guessing and priorize on a 1st come 1st serve basis/certain factors take priority (those with cancer looking to preserve fertility, etc). And get back to you. I'm currently awaiting news. And they don't know how it will work just yet but they are updating as the news becomes available.

  • @AshleySchulte87 oh ok, Iso it must be for your specific clinic. I'm about an hour fromu clinic as well in Burlington and i had talked to the nurse at my clinic and she they expected am influx as well but not they weren't sure how everything was going to play out. We have am appointment at the tlend of the month ton discuss our plans if this iui didn't take so I will talk to my doctor about it then. Thank you for the reply and best of luck!!!
  • TTC for 3 years, dx: low motility treatment: 3rd iui with puregon injections and progesterone suppositories.
  • Good luck to you @Rebeccalmc wishing you all the best at your appointment.

I have my appointment for November 5th, planning on signing IVF consent forms - I was told it was a $200 charge. And my FI has to go and do more tests. I think she said it was a Kruger test??? And it costs $250. After all that I get onto the wait list for IVF come January. Hopefully I am one of the first, but guess we will have to wait and see. Until then I'm still tempting and b'ding - maybe we will get a bfp without IVF. If not then at least I'm on the list.
