FFFC!

Re: FFFC!

  • I don't decorate for holidays. I hate storing all that crap and moving it and can think of so many things I'd rather do with my time than putting it up and taking it back down. Families are out of state, so we never host... I just get to enjoy the work of others!

I know this all will change with LO's arrival and while I'm looking forward to sharing holidays and traditions with him, so I need to change my attitude about the process that goes along with that!

Nope nope nope. I hate decorating. DH does it. I just hate putting stuff all over my house only to take it down in a month. I like the way it looks, but refuse to do it. I like the active stuff like apple picking and carving pumpkins. So that may be our tradition.
  • I am flabbergasted we are talking about Christmas. Halloween hasn't even happened! Calm down, folks.
(Maybe this is more UO than FFFC.)

Lol, I start thinking about the holidays in like, July. My absolute favorite time of year!
  • We started sleep training tonight - Ferber method. LO cried 52 minutes and then fell asleep. I felt so guilty and terrible and questioned whether I should stop. But my back is breaking from bouncing her to sleep for naps and bed and we have to put her down in a deep deep sleep otherwise she'll wake up and we have to start all over. Our ped said she isn't too young but part of me still wonders.

I just commented on this in another thread! We're starting tonight too. LO didn't cry before we put her down but she just started crying now. I'll update you later...

It will get better, I promise.

ETA A few minutes of back patting and she's quiet. First waking down, 3 more to go!

@Sjeff0816 With DS, he screamed for 45 min the first night. Screamed. It was awful. I wasn't sure I could do it again. But the second night was about 15 min, the 3rd was less than 5 and by night 4 he smiled when I put him down. It was 2 more nights before he stopped waking up in the MOTN, but each cry was shorter than the last. So in less than a week, he started going to sleep happy and sleeping 12 hours straight. I hope you see the same success!
  • @Sammy K you just made me feel so much better! She just woke up and whined a little. Now she's got her leg in the crib slats and she's holding onto them. It's like she's pulling out all her tricks to get me in there. Stinker. I'm so glad you're doing this tonight too! Good luck!

That is the dream. Feels like I'll never have that.

We only decorate for Halloween. Even with a LO, holiday (Xmas, midwinter, whatever you want to call it) decorations will be minimal. Haven't figure out yet exactly what we're going to do.

@virginiaunicorn11 YES!!!! Its not even Halloween yet! No holiday talk!

    Bah! Humbug!

  • ^^ Oops! Wrong thread, thought I was in randoms!
  • I dislike that LO is so antisocial. She smiles and giggles all day long at us but as soon as she leaves the house she is stone cold. I wish she was a really social baby.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • Our LO is the same. A ton of people think we have like this horribly boring baby but he is such a character when he is just with us
  • @Sammy K they are both precious!

Our LO is pretty serious when we're out too, but not at all at home. It's like he's taking it all in.
  • @alcrimmins Whoa! That is definitely an interesting day! Holy cow!

How did it go at the hospital? Everything ok now?

  • So tonight I had one glass of wine at dinner. I completely forgot and when LO started crying I breastfed her. It was practically right afterwards. Now I'm super paranoid because she's been spitting up a lot and I'm scared I made her sick. Has anyone else ever done this before? Feeling like a horrible mommy right now.

Your fine! I had a glass of wine at dinner too. I needed it and im now breastfeeding. The best time to drink is during or right after you feed LO bc it'll be out of your system by then. I don't drink a lot though but I'm ok with a glass every once in a while.
  • @mellymar They have no idea what's going on. The er dr was the dumbest person I've ever met. I have zero medical training, but I realize that looking in my ears wasn't going to tell her anything. She kept focusing on our l/o, even after we explained several times that everything was normal including my period for 3 months after having l/o. They said I should take 2 birth control pills instead of 1 until my dr office opens on Monday. D/H exploded on the woman. She seemed to think it was due to my period. I'm soaking a super heavy flow overnight pad in less than 2 hours with golf ball sized blood clots.

That's crazy. I hope you get some answers/appropriate medical care. How frustrating. And yes....IMO looking in your ears was pointless except to document that she looked in them. You must be in a small hospital? They could have at least consulted OBGYN.

I've done it. I live by the rule that if I don't feel drunk, it's fine to feed. I think you're fine!

ETA: Drunk is the wrong word. If I don't feel affected at all. Anyway, I've never worried about one glass!

Oh lady, I am so sorry you had to deal with that crap. I was wondering how the LEEP went, and I'm sorry for not asking sooner. This sounds like a pretty scary experience. I hope things get better very very quickly, and you can get some real medical care soon. Please keep us posted. Thinking of you
  • @alcrimmins what a horrible experience. I hope this all gets figured out asap. Keep us posted!
  • @jesshrou @virginiaunicorn11 @cait7425 Thanks ladies! I physically feel fine, just super annoyed that I need to stay near a bathroom all the time. It's actually a fairly big hospital which doesn't make sense why they couldn't consult with the obgyn upstairs. Who knows. D/H refuses to go back to this hospital.
  • @alcrimmins good grief, what a dumbass doctor. They totally should have called an OBGYN. Ugh. Stay healthy this weekend and keep us posted once you're able to speak with your OB

    @ahall0358 you're fine.

  • @alcrimmins glad you're feeling better. That sucks. Why are people so stupid?
  • @alcrimmins so glad your feeling okay. I'm sorry you had such a crappy experience. Some people.
  • @alcrimmins so sorry you had to deal with an incompetent doc. Glad your DH stood up for you though. Hope you get some answers soon. ❤️
  • Thanks ladies, that makes me feel a lot better. I won't do it often but every once in a while will be fine or I'll go crazy. This momma loves her wine!
  • ^^^^ I do it at least once a week...usually at least twice. Although most of the time LO is down for the night and not eating again for a while, but if he wakes up, I feed him.
  • I still play candy crush and am on level 9-- something. I stopped after I got pregnant (I used to play while I smoked so I needed to stop as it was a trigger) but then picked it up again once I started BF.

  • The 'Show Me A Baby' thread got away from me. There are now 195 new comments in it that I haven't read, and I'm intimidated.
