  • I'd also like to add that I think the batman craze is ridiculous. I also don't like star wars.

I do however obsess over LOTR and LOZ. I have a triforce tattoo and my cats are Aragorn and Arwen. I just can't get into the batman thing, I think the stories are kinda sucky; and Star Wars bores me to sleep every time.

So there we go. If there's any nerds lurking around here I have probably just set off a time bomb.

    Oh wait, one more thing.

That one hit me right in the feels. Yeah, Legend of Zelda.

Here we go! I def have to respond to this one (especially with the nerds lurking comment . . . nerd alert over here!)

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE BATMAN!!! However, not due to any "Batman craze"

I got hooked when I was like 12 on the old Adam West & Burt Ward show on TV Land. Honestly, I like Nightwing best, but since he is less popular that doesn't come up as much.

Also, I LOVE Star Wars! Definitely the original 3 more, but I grew up with the new 3 so those hold a place in my heart as well.

That being said, I'm a LOTR fan too :) And I have no problem with someone not liking what I like. It actually bugs me more that the things I like are becoming a "craze" or popular with people who don't really care about backstory and the origins of these characters. I also hate that if you're a girl and want Batman stuff you pretty much have to shop in the guy's section or suffer through pink and glitter. Props to anyone who wants a pink glittery Batgirl shirt, but guess what? Batgirl didn't wear pink!!!

So my UO is that "fake" nerds annoy me :) Also people who say that cute girls who are into nerdy stuff are just posers because they didn't get bullied the same . . . guess what? Just because I'm reasonably attractive doesn't mean I didn't get picked on for my nerdyness! Jeesh!

I get the "you're just a poser" comment all the time when I go to the beach and people see my tattoo. It has my brothers initials under it (the triforce is on my shoulder not anywhere inappropriate for clarification) and everyone is like "is that your boyfriend" ugh. No. My brothers and I used to stay up all night playing and it was their way of keeping me away form some bad stuff happening. Like jeeze man, women can game too.

I don't use my mic when I play WoW or League anymore either. Too much annoyance.
I usually play more console than internet games though. Idk why. I just prefer my own world.

I got all panicky when finding out we were having a boy - kept saying I don't know how to be a boy mom.  Then my mom reminded me: I like legos, action movies, sports, video games (Star Craft and Borderlands) and that I'll be just fine.  lol

Yes!!! My husband bought me the first edition (so PS1 version ) spyro and harvest moon: a wonderful life both for the PS3 so I can play them in bed when I'm hurting.

Now THAT is true love!! Whenever something happens he gets me a new game. It's freaking awesome. We always have something to do together too, my whole family is nerd central. Even my grandma plays! She's a total final fantasy fanatic.

...I made the baby a onesie that said "one does not simply crawl into mordor" and another that said "well someone has to save zelda" and we made it look like the hero's costume Link wears, of course!

I have the opposite problem! Not that we know we are having a girl I have NO idea what to do, what if she would rather dance and go shopping than destroy heartless?! Who is going to wield the key blade then?!

  • My UO is that if you are eating enough calories during the day, you should not eat in the middle of the night. I occasionally wake up and feel hungry, but never get up and eat something. I just eat breakfast at my normal time in the morning. My doctor has assured me that baby gets all the nutrition needed from only 300 extra calories a day. I'm positive I eat more than that during the day!

I love food too much to care about the calories. Pass me those donuts please!!
  • Our family did a LOZ theme for Halloween :) Link, Zelda, and a baby chicken lol.

I grew up on Kingdom Hearts! I always played with my sister. H is not a gamer or nerd AT ALL though. I am worried my kids will never know the heart break of leaving Winnie-the-Pooh for the last time in the 100 acre wood... Also I am SO excited for KH3!! H already knows that we're getting a PS4 when release date gets closer.

  • "Nerd" is a term with different meanings to different people. I could care less about video games, comics, role playing, LOTR or Star Wars, but I love classical music and listen to it almost exclusively, I love math and was on the math team in high school, and I like reading political and/or historical nonfiction.

I'm certainly not a "hip" nerd, but my interests are pretty nerdy.

I was like this. Due April 3 with my twins and they came March 5. Bit me in the butt because I have the oldest "April" babies in my group. Which means people seek advice from me because I was the first to do many things. Nobody for me to seek advice from. Wish id have been more active in the march board.

That's a good point, but I'm trying to be active on the mulitples board where I will probably find better advice for my questions anyway since I've done the singleton thing a few times.

YES! I found it on my husbands list, I think it's his "push" gift. I was making fun of moms who expect diamonds for birthing a baby, sorry if you're one of those, but I think he's getting the PS4 as a joke. I would DIE if he wasn't into the nerd life!! I also always teared up leaving him. I have every KH right now. So I'm pumped to add to the collection.

I think the term you're looking for is a geek.. (Totally kidding!!) I didn't much like math but I was on my schools debate team and I would do essays and speeches and host fake presidential debates for fun too. I also did choir and theatre . When I was in the military stationed in Florida I ran the choir there. It was fun!

I agree though, a nerd is something different to everyone .
