When is the point you get induced if it's not elective? I read that it's best to induce when you're at least 4cm dialated. Was that the case for any of the 2nd(+a) time moms?
I was induced at 3 cm. to my knowledge, you can be induced at any stage of dilation. I think that the more favorable your cervix is (ie dilated or effaced) the more likely that the induction will go smoothly.
I was 3cm and 100% effaced and my MD did not suggest induction - but I requested it out of sheer desperation. It depends on your MD and other factors specific to your health. If you've gone too far over, they're more likely to push for it.
37 weeks, 37+1, 38+6, 39+4,and 40+1. I'm planning on going to at least 40+2 this time, haha.
I've always heard you go earlier each time!!! Too funny.
I know! This is not quite reassuring. Our timing is awful so DH is only going to be back in the States for 3 weeks, 1 week before LO's due date and 2 weeks after so we're definitely hoping this LO arrives just like DD did.
My first was three days early. My second was two days late. I was so spoiled the first time around. The five extra days with the second seemed like an eternity!
My daughter was born at 35w5d. However, I had a complete previa. The c-section was planned at 36 weeks, but I had a bleed 4 days before. They monitored me over night and went ahead and delivered her the next morning. We were very lucky as she spent no time in the NICU. She was 5 lbs 13 oz!
DS1 was born at 38 weeks 4 days. I was dilated to 3cm and 70% effaced at my first check (35 weeks). 4cm and 80% at 36 weeks and still made it until then :-)
DS2 was born at just shy of 36 weeks. I was 4cm when checked with him at 35 weeks. I actually went to the hospital for dehydration and when observed they noticed contractions (I don't feel them until transition) and I progressed to 6cm so they kept me.
DS3 - admitted to the hospital at 30 weeks because I was 4cm dilated and 60% effaced. I got magnesium and steroid shots for his lungs in case he came early. I went home 2 days later on bedrest and my stubborn guy held on to be 2 days late :-)
I am getting hydroxyprogesterone injections this time to hopefully avoid any preterm stuff so hoping I make it at least to 38 weeks.

38 weeks with DS but my water had been broken for at least 3 days prior.
um... no? No (reasonably decent) doctor is going to let you go three days between when your water breaks and when you give birth.
Actually yes @pinottoparenthood . Went to the doctor and mentioned a two drop trickle. He did a swab and it came back negative. He had me go back two days later and again the swab was negative. They did an ultrasound and said fluid was on low side of normal but if I felt a trickle to go to hospital. It happened again and went to the hospital. Again swab at hospital was negative but thankfully the nurse decided it best to send a sample to the lab which proved I was leaking amniotic fluid. Apparently I had a small high tare. I thought it was a discharge and had no idea you could be leaking fluid one drop at a time. So yes. It happens.
Edited for spelling.
Got it... but yes, that wasn't on purpose. Perhaps my phrasing was a bit harsh, I was just surprised... generally they want you to deliver within 24 hours of your water breaking and will induce right away if your water breaks.

I was induced on my due date because my BP was high and they knew baby was already in the 8-10lb range. I delivered vaginally within 13 hours. Baby was 9.3 so I'm glad they kicked him out! Haha

This was my experience as well. When I arrived at hospital I was 3.5 cm. Only 6 hour labor. It took breaking my water to induce serious contractions. After my water broke she was born 2 hours later.
Re: ST+Ms (2nd time+ moms)
I delivered at 33 weeks. LO was in the NICU for 3 weeks, which is considered relatively short.
ETA: I should mention that I had no signs of early labor or any complications. My water broke and contractions started at 3 minutes apart.

Actually they will but monitor you on hospital bed rest. But usually at a premie stage. Not 38 weeks. That is weird.
