R/R/CS: I want to start temping, but since we are just "unofficially trying" I'm not. I know once I do I will be full blown obsessed with everything baby making. I'm probably going to have trouble getting him to HIO everyday.

@KASG I buy mine over the counter at the pharmacy, but our pharmacy also gives them free if you have a prescription, which I will ask OB for next time I go in.
@MrsRo731 do you wake up and get out of bed?  I wake up, but then fall back asleep without doing much other than rolling over, and it doesn't seem to effect my temps much

WAYD:  oh, all the things, I guess.

R/R/CS:  I've been feeling discouraged this month, even though we've been having tons of sex. I'm with all the other ladies saying temping causes too much anxiety and I've been waking up too early, and now I'm tired every day. I can't get a consistent temping time at all. I also haven't had any signs of O yet - no EWCM at all to speak of, and CP doesn't really seem to be moving into a fertile position. I definitely saw the signs last month, but it seemed pretty late. I wasn't temping for O yet at that time so I have no idea what CD it actually was, or when to expect it this month. The anticipation is really stressing me out.

GTKY--Who's your celebrity BFF?  You know, the more real-life secrets I find out about celebrities, the more I don't like them as human beings. I lived in LA for about 6 years, and you hear a lot of gossip about everyone in that town. So since I don't really know anything about Jennifer Lawrence besides her public persona, I'm going to pick her.

WAYDTGKU: Metformin, Femara 5mg (CD 3-7) + Ovidrel, TI, PNV

R/R/CS:  I had my CD12 monitoring u/s this morning.  I have one follicle at 20mm on my right and nothing on my left.  I'm a weird mix of excited and bummed.  I was excited to have a mature follicle since, in the past, 5mg has never given me any mature follicles.  But I think combining Metformin with Femara this time has helped.  And I am glad that the follicle is at 20mm already.  Normally my follicles are only around 14-17mm on CD12.  So that's good.  But I'm bummed I only have one follicle because in the cycles we conceived my son and daughter I had 3 and 4 follicles, respectively.  I know it only takes one so I'm just hoping the one I've got is a good quality egg (which is an issue with my PCOS).  If it doesn't work this cycle then we will increase my dose to 7.5mg to try and get more follicles.  Anyway, I trigger in the morning and TI is tonight and Friday night.

What kind of testing are you wanting? Do you have any indication that something may be wrong, like your cycles are super irregular or you have a short LP? If so, I would phrase it as "I'm worried about X symptom, can we run any tests to figure out what's wrong?" Doctors don't like testing before the year mark because it can take a perfectly healthy couple a year to get pregnant. If everyone rushed in to get tested before that it would be a major strain on the system. But if there's a legitimate reason why you want to get started earlier because you have noticed something is off, then you can try to push harder.

I know it's hard, but try not to assume there's something wrong at this point. According to RESOLVE, 1 in 8 couples have difficulty getting and/or staying pregnant. Only 60% of couples conceive naturally within 6 months and somewhere around 85-90% conceive naturally within 12 months. So, statistically, it's more likely that there's nothing wrong.

If this is for an SA, I think he could just go to a urologist. If your H has a condition that you/he think may hinder your ability to conceive, he should probably be discussing whatever testing you want with the doc managing his condition. That doc is going to be much more well versed in your husband's issues than your OB/GYN. That's what we did with my DH--I asked him to talk to his doctor about whether he thought DH's condition and the meds he takes could potentially affect fertility, and they discussed together whether he needed any testing at this point.

PNVs won't help you get pregnant but they can help prevent issues such as spina bifida. Since you are actively TTC, you should start taking them ASAP.

This! You need to be at least taking folic acid to help prevent neural tube defects. Studies have shown that taking folic acid up to a year before conception is helpful for prevention. Definitely at least start folic acid (if not a full PNV) asap!

lalalorelai   Thanks for trying to bring me back to reality, it is a difficult thing to do.  When I had my gallbladder taken out last week the dr found something on my lady parts. DH didn't explain it well but said he burnt something that should make my periods less painful. I go for my follow up next Monday so hopefully I'll get a better explanation. Maybe that will give me a reason to test. I read in TCOYF that if you chart, BD regularly, etc that you should get tested after 6 months. I thought I was compromising at 9 months. I just have a gut feeling something is wrong. I'm just being impatient, I know. I just hate thinking something is wrong and we have to wait for all the tests and treatments and it could take another year or more:(

MagnoliaRoseFern Yes it is for an SA. I didn't know where to go to get this done. He had three surgeries about ten years ago that required pain meds for an extended time (I'm talking months). I'm worried those may have caused a problem. Thanks for the advice.

I think everyone is slightly different.  Many of us wait until we get a third elevated temp to confirm O on FF, or until we are really sure we O'd. Usually we know people are close cause they say they are just waiting for a temp to confirm O, so people just head on over.  No one will think you're rude :)

ETA: Again, I think everyone is different for TWW too.  In TWW,  I personally just write that AF arrived and I am headed over to WTO, but not everyone does.  Either way I think is fine, but that's just me.
  • @belle714 Everyone gets EWCM at different times, some don't get it at all (like me). When in doubt, hump it out!
  • @ashbear720      Hang in there girl!!  It takes a month or two to really start to understand what it is that you are looking for and how to interpret your chart and all the info.  One of the biggest things to keep in mind is that your temps can be affected by a large # of things (how warm or cool it is in your room, if you are sick, etc).  Also try not to focus on any one temp specifically but the overall temp shift is what you are looking for.  You may want to try to just stick with temping this month vs trying to manage keeping up with ALL of the signs at one time.  So start check CM/CP but I wouldn't necessarily get over stressed about those things unless you are noticing definite changes.  I'm still trying to get the hang of CM myself and CP because I find those 2 things alone to be frustrating.  Temping is easy.  You take your temp and record it.  If there are significant changes in your temps from day to day, try to think of what could be affecting it.  Drinking alcohol is another big one that affects your temps (for some anyways).  So keep track of those things and check them I guess but maybe just focus on temping for this month and record that for sure and then next month you can really focus on the CM.  It will get better!!

@anj27      Don't stress too much about your O date, especially if you are just starting to temp.  Your O date can vary for quite a few different reasons, stress being one of them, sickness, taking antibiotics, etc.  I know its hard when you are just starting out and its hard even when you've been doing it for a while because there is no guarantee or set date of when it actually happens until it happens. Just try to take it one day at a time!

@bbrooke92        Didn't you O late last month? I can't remember but I feel like we just talked about this like it was yesterday but it was a month ago? That's crazy!! Time flies when you are TTC.  I feel ya on the frustrations, but I'm trying to not let it get too me.  I did make an appt with an RE, but I'm thinking my DH is going to tell me to cancel it because we aren't that far into the game yet.  And I just read a statistic on here today actually that chances significantly increase for couples after the 6 month mark.  Its a trial of my patience daily.....the struggle is real.

@belle714           Your O date can vary month to month and doesn't necessarily have to match up with when CM happens.  Usually, they do go hand in hand, but some women can have EWCM a few different times through out their cycles.  I'd keep tracking it and checking/documenting it, but it can occur at different times through out your cycle from my understanding.

@KASG        Take the PNV daily, starting today.  You can move over to the TWW after you get your CH and most of the time you will see the same people in the same group as you.  You may miss somebody here or there by a day or 2, but you can always check the TWW if you don't see somebody posting on the WTO board and want to see how they are doing.

@dogmomwantinghuman       Your DH's primary care dr should be able to order at least a SA for you guys if your OB won't.  But I would agree, depending on where you are at on your journey, your age and your overall health, your OB may not want to order any tests just yet and understandably so if there's no real reason for it.  I know its hard to wait it out, but try to be patient.

  • R/R/CS: Nothing tells you so honestly how much you've been on TB like your iPhone battery usage. Sigh.
So true! My phone has been almost dead every day since I found this place!

@MNturnsVA thanks for the encouragement. :) I feel like on one hand checking all of the signs gives me something to do/look at on my chart, but on the other, it is getting a bit stressful. I just feel like my temps are unreliable because I wake up before my alarm pretty much every day at different times, and I can't bring myself to set a 3:30am alarm just for temping (yet). I think all I can do is HIO until I can see a clear biphasic shift. DH is very excited about this and even sent me a text this morning saying "Today is HIO!!!" lol.
