Hi ladies! I just found out on Saturday morning that I'm expecting, yay! According to different calendars I've used, I think I'm due June 17th. I'm going to call tomorrow to see what my office says, but I was just wondering when you had your first appointment. I know it can vary by practice and past experiences, but I've seen ranges from 4 to 12 weeks for the first appointment. I may go crazy by 12 weeks, haha!
Re: How far were you at first ob/gyn appointment?
I'm guestimating aug. 30. I'm calling the doctor today to see when we can come in.

My first appointment with the doctor was at 12 weeks. That was as short and boring as most of the prenatal appointments.
The time between appointments is always tough until you feel regular daily movement in third tri. At least it was for me.
Second pregnancy- 13 weeks with an OB
Third pregnancy- 10 weeks with a MW

I'd had several ultrasounds by 8 weeks with my first, and it sounds like my situation was similar to PP's -- I wasn't as far along at my first appointment as we'd thought I was, so I had at least one more (maybe two more? I don't remember) for dating and to ensure the fetus was developing. When they went in expecting to see six weeks of development but only saw three or four, they wanted to follow up to see that things were progressing appropriately. It was an extra appointment or two, but it was worth it to me to know everything was OK.

I had a similar experience as well (one at 5 weeks and change, one about a week later, I think a third at 8 weeks). Similarly, it was to check that things were progressing appropriately. I don't think this is out of the norm, especially if you had previous losses or have been diagnosed with a threatened miscarriage.
