My first appointment was today (4 weeks 5 days) but that's because I have a history of miscarriages. I've heard most people are told to wait until 8 weeks but my OB/GYN thinks that's ridiculous and that women should be able to come in whenever they want to it just depends on the doctor from what I've heard. Congrats!!!
I don't really understand this for normal, low risk pregnancies. Other than confirming pregnancy, which can be done with a home HPT, there's not generally a whole lot that happens at early appointments. Even if you were to have an early dating u/s those generally aren't done until after 6 weeks since not much can be seen until that point. Again, for you it is different since you have a history of m/c but for most women appointments earlier than 8 weeks generally wouldn't be necessary.

Twins lost to due to partial molar pregnancy: September 2011
I'm a little over 6 weeks and still have 2 weeks to wait for my first appt, I feel like it's forever away but the office said it's pretty normal to wait to then.
I'll be 6 weeks 5 days, exactly two weeks from now. I told them I'd just found out and they wanted to see me asap, I asked if they wanted to wait until I was 8-10 weeks and they said no, it doesn't matter.

My first appointment was at 6 weeks with a Nurse Practioner where she ordered some blood test. When I was 8 weeks I went for my first ultrasound and more blood tests. I'm 10 weeks now and scheduled to see my OB in a couple of days. On my 12th week, I have my NT ultrasound scheduled. I feel like I'm always at the doctors office
Re: How far were you at first ob/gyn appointment?
First doctor's appointment (just to answer any questions I might have as a first-timer): 6 weeks
First ultrasound (dating scan because I have a long cycle): 6 1/2 weeks
Second doctor's appointment (routine checkup): 11 weeks, and we're doing the second ultrasound (NT scan) at 12 weeks 4 days.
I won't see my doctor until 12 or more weeks
