I upcycled a dresser this weekend, made some canvas acrylic paintings and am working on a crocheted blanket!! I love these types of projects...keeps my mind off excessively worrying!
I have a two year old and Been teAching myself to sew this year. I think I'm going to try these felt paper dolls and dollhouse for a Christmas present.
My only pause about using a chunky yarn as a beginner is it can make it a little difficult to learn what you're looking at in the stitch; especially the fluffy fun ones that you need to go by feel rather than sight. I would try at least a dishcloth, as previously said, in a worsted weight yarn first. Learn the feel and look of a stitch and then do a fun chunky yarn.
Blanket for baby A, still working on blanket for baby b, the third pic was ds with the hat and mittens i made him for his first winter. i will get the pic of the matching booties posted soon.
Now I didn't make this- but my husband's aunt did - and she surprised us with it tonight! Now we haven't told anyone much what we are doing as far as a theme or anything, but these are the colors we had picked out! She has this wonderful sense of picking things we like! And while we want to do an owl theme, it was originally a toss - up between elephants and owls; and the white looking dots are actually elephants with colored hearts in them! This blanket is gorgeous!!!
@mcklough YES! So adorable. I have seen other Dobby dolls for cheaper on Etsy, but I felt like that one was the nicest looking. The Mandrake creeped my husband out a little bit, but he doesn't get my HP love. I said "um hello I got the name Hannah from Hannah Abbott, you know the Hufflepuff girl that ends up marrying Nevielle who LOVES Herbology so the Mandrake is perfect". He just stared at me blankly haha
That price is a little high, but by the time you figure in the hours it took to make it and the yarn, this seller needs to make a profit too. I haven't learned how to do Amigurumi yet, sorry. Super cute though.

mine doesn't understand the fascination at all. He is like you are reading them AGAIN? Pretty much as soon as I finish I start again.
I love that you picked a harry potter name that wasn't like "albus" haha. and yea mandrakes are a bit creepy but that's what makes them cute. I mean hello- house elves aren't really cute cuddly things either. I feel like a winky would be so adorable though.
I've been scoping out subtle HP baby stuff and haven't bought anything yet but that dobby and the leggings that have the glasses and scar pattern are right at the top of my list. Also maybe one of the cool watercolor looking silhouettes of important symbols, I just don't know but I want it all!!!!!!
ETA: just because it's cute. the only thing my husband can seem to retain is "hufflepuff" but he at first thought it was "snugglepuff" so he says that he and my dog belong in snugglepuff together.

This. The seller isn't trying to gouge you by setting a high price for their handmade items, they are just trying to get a return on the time and investment they have made. I understand wanting to be frugal, but then maybe you just need to look for something mass produced instead. It's why I have no interest in selling my crafts, and save them for gifts instead. It hurts to be told the time you've put in isn't valuable.
I didn't ask for it cheap, I just asked how much someone would charge. I'm buying one either way, I just figured someone here may want to sell something and I'd rather buy from another mama (:

I didn't mean for my comment to sound like an attack on anyone @SarahFoley725, it was more of a general response to @mcklough 's comment about wanting a "better price"
I have all sorts of HP amigurumi "pinned" and just have never had the chance to do them. Stitching the parts themselves is easy enough but it takes more focus than say, a blanket. Then stitching them together....ugh, hate that part.
If I had more free time though I would be happy to do it! I don't know how some people can whip them out in an hour or two. That's like a super power to me.
Started a yellow and gray blanket sometime last week! I'm not a quick crochet-er, and my lower back won't allow me to sit for too long, so it's gonna take another few weeks to finish I'm sure.
Not as crafty as my other project, but someone gave me some plain white newborn onesies before we found out I'm having a boy. So I decided to give them some color. I was also given a few hand me downs, and three of them were stained. Two use to be white but were washed with something red, so they were pink, so I dyed them yellow. Another was a onesie for our local NFL team, but it had a light blue stain from cheap laundry detergent (another reason I like clear detergents, no blue staining), so I dyed it teal (team color).
I use the stove top method to get the dye to take better (most washers don't get hot enough for the dye to look it's best).
Here are the cards I've been working on the last couple of days for my mom and sister's birthdays! Plus the bracelet I've been working on for my sister for weeks. So. Many. Knots.
I'm knitting a blanket! I haven't knitted anything for about 15 years haha... The casting on stiches went a bit strange but I think by the end of it I'm imagining a sewn on edge of some sort, so that'll fix it up!
I'm working on crocheting another baby blanket in blue this time, now that we know what our baby is a boy! I am not quite done with it (maybe a few more rounds) but I can take a picture. Its a nice granny square blanket with turquoise blue, gray, and white

@asheacoc91 lurking from feb... Where did you get the letters? Or how did you DIY this? I love it and want to do something similar for baby boys nautical themed room
I've been on the prowl for a maternity coat extender pattern. If anyone has one or knows where I can look (I tried pinterest and got squat) please share! If not, I'm going to be looking at buying fleece and a separating zipper, to create a piece that will zip into my coat zipper to make the front wider for my ever expanding belly. I can do this for about $8 vs buying a brand new coat to wear for 3 months. Thanks in advance!

I was crafty with my last kiddo but with this one I'm going to be pretty chill. For nursery decor we're painting a small wooden bookshelf, hopefully today, because it went from 28 degrees to like 50 today... I'm canadian so it's a total guess but it went from below freezing to light jacket/heavy weather weather. We're also staining a dresser (unvarathaed) so it'll be an easy job. For the more artsy stuff I made a cloud mobile last time because hubby studies clouds/lightening it's super cute but I put it on a tapestry circle and it kinda bugs me, so I'm switching it to a manzanita branch to hang over the change area. Where baby girl and my son will be sharing a giant nursery I'll duplicate some art I created for him in her space - he has a 2' "O" yarn letter I made out of cardboard and yarn. Once we settle on a name I'll make one (or possibly two just in case we change our minds. I'll post a pic when I'm done. I just want to say all your knitting and crocheting is GOREGOUS. My aunt is an accomplished crocheter and I'm so jealous you ladies can pump out the beautiful stuff. I'm lucky because I Pinterest and she makes it while watching soaps. Wish I had your talents.
I'm super crafty. Sewing, paper crafts, painting, etching, whatever.
Anyway, my husband is making wallpaper in a yoshi's island theme.
He has a 20' wide printer for his business. So we bought self adhesive fathead material.
I'll post pictures when we get it hung.
We bought a bunch of bath rugs from Ikea in yoshi colors and I'm going to cut them up and sew them into a big yoshi face for the floor.
I can't wait to post pictures of that!!
In the meantime, please check out the dresser we just finished. It started out very dirty kept in in a dirt-floor garage.
But some TLC and I think it's beautiful.
Let me know what you think!

I have felt soo super crafty lately!
I want to make my mobile, the bedskirt, wall decorations and repurpose some old plastic drawers.
Have I done any of it yet? no. But I want to!
Calling all sewing mamas!
