Food Confessions

Re: Food Confessions

  • @jaimeruns I take it the new flavor is good? I saw it on the menu the other day and it didn't sound very tasty.

Part II of my confession. The half bag of pita chips I had eaten with hummus? I just polished off the rest of the bag with an entire wedge of brie cheese (minus the rind , because I think it's gross). I'm ashamed, but dairy is good, right? Some calcium? Yep, that's what I'm going with.

  • Surprisingly, savory has been a much bigger craving than sweet for me this time around. Usually I have a huge sweet tooth. Now if only I could feel guilt-free about getting my hands on a big stick of summer sausage, I'd be a happy camper.

  • Guys, I literally just drooled onto my shirt reading half of this! There's no good food in my house really and I'm starving!! Doesn't help that the bank account says, "No beyotch, you can't get food out this week." X( =P~

  • Ooooh I want to try the new drink from Starbucks. I was discouraged this summer with the smores drink (smores are my most fave food in the world) cause the starbucks here is ghetto and never had the graham ingredients so it wasn't even a complete smores drink :((
  • @VitaLuna I consider that a healthy dose of calcium...and agree that the rind is disgusting.
  • @VitaLuna Summer sausage. Yes! Yum! I've been craving that so bad! I'm too afraid to eat it though. This, however, doesn't stop my whole family from eating it in front of me.
  • Made cupcakes tonight for friends bday tomo. Yeah… scarfed 3 down and they were delicious. Contemplating going for one more!

Sugary breakfast foods are my guilty pleasure!! Pop tarts!! Cinnamon Toast Crunch!! I'm looking forward to the weekend too because H has been getting into the habit of buying me donuts on the weekends!!

How about Toaster Struedel?? I saw these the other day and had completely forgotten they existed! I knew I couldn't put them in the cart in front of my almost three year old. He would remember and want to try them. If he tried them, he'd never eat anything else again.

My confession: I bought alcohol free sparkling wine tonight because I've been craving wine for at least a month. But I've never opened a bottle before (it pops like champagne) and I'm scared. I took it out to have a glass while I cooked dinner, and then I put it back in the fridge. Hoping DH will open it for me after the kids are in bed. So I guess my confession is less about food/drink and more that I'm scared of loud noises and projectiles.

  • @paytonpedro there is a festival here once a year in October that has the best summer sausage. Only available once a year at that festival. I'm going to miss out this year, and I could just about cry. They have delicious fresh pressed cider (unpasteurized), which I never realized was a no no until I told a coworker how excited I was for it. Booooo

  • This wasn't recent but a coworker had gotten Olive Garden to go and was finishing it up in a meeting. I literally almost drooled from the smell and she felt so bad she offered me her free salad and the breadsticks. I politely declined the first time and then immediately grabbed them when she offered again. Plus that wasn't my first lunch that day...

I have toaster streusel in my freezer! I had some for lunch actually, lol. I wish they made more with cream cheese other than strawberry...

Also, I ended up having 3 pancakes and sausage for dinner. Lol

  • I drink soda. Like two cans a day. Mountain Dew for breakfast. I console myself that I don't drink coffee these days (I usually like coffee, but not now)
  • @bookqueen on days like that, I slide by the coinstar. Lol
  • Indulging in a Sonic strawberry limeade right now. Route 44 size (basically xl)

  • I've been working on planning a sushi trip. A few friends and I used to go every other month or so to this awesome place. We would spend every bit of $300+ on sushi. The owner loved us so much he would make special rolls and give us bottles of saki. I miss it sooooo much!

Not bragging btw.. Just really sad I can't afford that much lately.
I'm not at all worried about "the rule", and even if I were... Their smoked eel roll is out of this world! Sigh... One day!
  • It's almost 11 pm here. I'm usually in bed now but I stayed up just to eat my bear after dd went to bed so I didn't have to share.
Now I'm brushing my teeth and going to bed
  • @bookqueen on days like that, I slide by the coinstar. Lol

I don't carry cash to spend, so I have no change. Lol I may have to just go get some ChickFilA next weekend!

  • DQ pumpkin pie blizzards. I had 3 this week. I'm ashamed, if that makes it any better.

Ohhh I heard about those! The fact that you had 3 makes me think they probably don't suck.

    :runs to DQ:

  • Can't wait for H to get up because I am so gorging on beignets and a latte when we go out for breakfast this AM. I NEED him up NOW!

@VitaLuna we have a family friend from Germany who makes sausage. He's at every family party. I have to leave the room/area when the sausage comes out! Ugh!
My family presses apple cider, and my dad usually makes wine out of some of it.(YUM) I'm contemplating drinking it anyways, not the wine to clarify. Lol. I mean it's my H, dad, brother and I who pick the apples and crush them, what are my chances of hurting myself or baby. Nvm. I would probably still feel guilty. I'll just make mine hot apple cider. Lol

    Eta to clarify.
  • I hide Oreos in my car and sneak them when I "take the diapers out". No shame.

Also, why can't we have summer sausage?

  • I made Oreo cake and baked spaghetti 3 days ago... Both are now gone. The Oreo cake I didn't even put on a plate.. I ate it with a big spoon out of the pan..
I still have soda too much too. Its my craving.. I try to only have one can a day and have tried to wean myself to rootbeer because it has no caffeine, but.. Fountain Pepsi's are the best.
  • @Laura88821 I got it with 2 pumps yesterday and it was a lot less sweet, but still really good!

@VitaLuna yeah I'm totally obsessed with it! I even started craving golden grahams because of it! Which I added to my cereal stockpile yesterday...

  • @MississippiCatfish if you haven't opened your sparkly bottle yet, put a kitchen towel over the top and hold it down while pulling the cork out. The towel will keep it from going anywhere.

I may have opened quite a few bottles of bubbly in my day...

  • @jaimeruns I did that a couple weeks ago with a pumpkin spice latte and it was pretty good, too, with 2 pumps. Gives me a good excuse to drink them more frequently ;)
  • I've gotten a vanilla crafted press at caribou coffee the last two mornings. Any other Caribou lovers out there?? One of the best things about Minnesota!

  • @paytonpedro I'd totally drink it if I knew where they came from and how they were prepped. I think the risk with unpasteurized is that you don't know if they were windfall apples picked up off the ground and may have been contaminated with E. coli by animals.

@ohbaby714 I believe it falls in the same category as deli meats, hot dogs, etc (has to be heated). I'm still contemplating whether I'm going to follow that rule for this festival, though.

  • @VitaLuna gotcha! Thanks. I don't think I can resist all the summer sausage and cheese during football season. Or cider this fall. Although I'm pretty sure the gallons that you get at the orchard are pasteurized but I could be wrong.

  • Caribou is so good! I wish we had them where I live. Also Coffee Bean!

  • Today I was supposed to eat pizza for lunch with my students, but I went last through the line and there was only one slice left. So I ate it and then got a milkshake later.
  • I had a cannoli and a piece of tiramisu yesterday and I don't even feel bad about it. I had chef boyardee ravioli for lunch today. I've had poutine (a Canadian dish with French fries gravy and cheese) more times in the last month than I have in the last three years combined... Oh and I have a "second dinner" every night around 10pm.
  • I can't eat any of this food because of allergies... I don't feel so bad about my chocolate milk now!
  • DS has a peanut allergy and one of the only cookies I can safely buy for him are Oreos. The family size packages were BOGO last week so we got 4 packages. I have finished off almost an entire package all by myself. And now we are also running out of milk because of it. Sorry not sorry.

I've never had poutine, but that sounds amazing!!! Yum!!
