I hate pants. Anyone else?

I'm in a losing battle with pants.  I'm basically busting out of my skinny jeans, which fit in the morning but by noon I'm seriously thinking about unbuttoning.  I bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans, and the darn things will not stay up.  I've thought about the belly band, but I haven't told anyone at work, and I don't want to let the cat out of the bad if my shirt somehow creeps up and people see (this is actually how I found out my boss was pregnant at my last job).
Am I doomed to a life of skirts and dresses?

Re: I hate pants. Anyone else?

  • Yeah, lol at pants....I have 2 pairs that fit me right now and unfortunately, one of them is red. So I can't wear them frequently.
  • Loading the player...
  • Soft pants, all the time! I traded my jeans in for jegging material with elastic waist. Oh, and the bella band is coming out for the ones that don't have an elastic waist (if I choose to wear them again) :'(

  • I'm wearing leggings and a dress today. That will probably be the norm soon for me

  • The pants that used to fall off of me on my fat days can no longer be zipped. I'm going to break down and buy maternity pants soon, but my uniform still fits so it's skirts for now.
  • Totes. I have 3 pairs that fit for now but I've gotten into the habit of unbuttoning them when Im sitting alone. Conatantly on the look out for lose tops and loose waist pants. Holding off maternity shopping till week 12 so I feel more secure!
  • My jeans are starting to feel tight and uncomfortable but I don't know what I will do because I am not a dress/skirt girl and I also refuse to wear yoga pants or sweat pants in public. I haven't found any good maternity clothes selection at any stores yet but I'm hoping somewhere will have good stuff.
  • Get the maternity pants with the inset panel.. Old Navy has some and maybe Gap? They're going to stay up better right now than the full panel.

  • Leggings. Leggings and tunics or dresses now, leggings and oversized sweaters in a couple months, and I can't gush enough about my preggings (maternity leggings). Also yoga pants.

Use a hair tie to extend the waist? It's less obvious than a band.
  • Freaking pants, jeans, etc.....i keep trying to use a rubber band with my regular jeans but they keep falling down my butt! And my maternity pants are to baggy right now...this sucks.

Image result for i breastfed my baby 1 year

  • I HATE PANTS! they're so tight and uncomfortable, I actually split a pair of jeans a few weeks ago. The rubber band trick won't work anymore but maternity pants won't stay up. I get home from work and just roam around bottom naked.
  • Wear tank tops under your shirts! I do this all the time and luckily the ones I get are just long enough to cover my belly band and even if the band shows- it's white so it looks like a tank top sticking out!
  • I am wearing these today (https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1021104&vid=1&pid=257353062) I have them in non-maternity and LOVE them. They are a little loose, but so comfy.

I am at that awkward stage where my regular pants just aren't cutting it anymore, but I am not really big enough for maternity.
  • Down to the last pair of shorts. They are a little tight on my belly but too loose in the butt. Rocking a nice case of Dunlap's Disease at this point. Stretch pants are in my future.
  • My bella band is going to come in handy, especially with my work pants.

  • What are these pants you speak of?! I made a mental pact with myself in August to not wear pants to work for a month...before realizing I was pregnant! So luckily, it's not so out of the norm to see me in skirts and dresses as much as it used to be.  I have still been wearing my spanx underneath because, let's be honest...chub-rub is real! I don't know how much longer I will last in them without going up a size or investing in some maternity leggings.  I will say though, the spanx round out the bloat in the afternoons and it isn't as awfully jiggly that way! It's the little things that make all the difference to a big girl! :-)

  • The Bella band is definitely worth it! When I need/want to wear jeans I use a hair tie to keep the pieces flat and the Bella band under my normal shirt. It looks like a tank top sticking out and the silicone on the band helps keep it in place so you don't show everyone your pants are open haha.

  • Thank god I wear scrubs to work !!! I'm loving Victoria's Secret skinny fold over leggings when I'm off tho. I had a few pairs and loved them so much over the past few years I just bought more and they hide the bloat ! 32-54$ each and they last forever !
  • No pants are the best pants. My DH agrees ;) My first step when i get home every day is to put on yoga pants.
yes! The first thing I do when I get home is remove the pants.

My H laughed at me the other day because we were spending the day with his family and sitting in the car for awhile. Literally, the second I walked through the door, my pants came off. I don't even remember if I shut the door behind me or not!
  • I have a few maternity pants & shirts from DS.  I totally wore a full panel yesterday.  Obviously there is extra room yet; I was able to hike it up and hold it up with my bra band.  While it looked incredibly silly before I put my shirt on, I was so comfortable all day.

The Bella Band, was never tight enough to hold my pants up, but it just looked like a tank peeking out.
  • Today was my first day looking at maternity clothes online.  Oh, I just dread this!  This is my third pregnancy and I am not looking forward to the full panel, hot, itchy, pant falling down thing.  Just had to take a moment to vent...

So, what ARE everyones FAVORITE pants?!?!

My sister suggested the side-inset panel ones. Old Navy has a bunch. You can wear them your whole pregnancy (she is still wearing hers post-partum). I haven't tried the full-panel ones but they look awful!

I loved Motherhood Maternity with DS.  The full panels are ah-mazing!  So comfy!
  • Screw pants, for real. I know everyone says that being pregnant in the summer is the worst, but I'm a little terrified of what being pregnant during a Chicago winter might look like largely because of pants. My standard operating procedure has been fleece-lined leggings under thermals under actual dress pants (and sometimes under snowpants) because my daily commute involves a fifteen minute walk outside and I am a super-weenie about the cold and snow. It already makes me waddle around in discomfort (but at least I'm warm!); adding a bump over the top may render me completely immobile. Not to mention: maternity dress pants I can probably find, but where the heck am I going to get maternity thermals?

At least right now I can get by with stretchy jersey skirts and dresses; hallelujah for Old Navy!.  It would be super cool if global warming would live up to its name and keep Chicago at a pleasant 75 degrees through the winter months.*

*Yes, I know that's not what it's called anymore and that's not how it works and that if I got my wish there would probably be severe environmental consequences.  Don't care. Want to be warm, unwilling to move.
  • Thank god for victorias secret undies- my normal undies were too tight so I bought the stretchy nice ones from em.
Im relying on hairties keeing my unbottoned pants (jeans and any other pants) up for now. Arg.
  • I've been wearing nothing but skirts and dresses. I still have to wear a belt with my jeans but I just cannot handle jeans touching me.

  • I don't get along with dress pants when I'm NOT pregnant so my usual empire waist dresses and maxi skirts are a blessing right now. However, my chest has far outpaced my belly so those dresses are about done...
  • I love the pair of underbelly jeans from Target I got for DD - they're pretty much denim yoga pants. Over belly drives me nuts and are impossible to wear early because they're so bunchy. Just bought a pair with the side insets so we'll see how those work.

The biggest issue I've found is that I'm typically a size 2 short or even extra-short and all maternity seems to run at least a full size large. The Target maternity 2s (the smallest they stock in store with a numerical size) literally fell off me at 20 weeks with DD. Not that I really want "juniors maternity" to exist, but it'd be great to not have to order online and hem 4+ inches again or drive 45 minutes to spend twice as much at a maternity specific store. Ugh, pants. Rant done.

  • I was on my last pair of pants until I broke down and went maternity clothes shopping 1.5 weeks ago. I went to motherhood maternity and was able to find some decent pants for work that don't fall down... Most the time...

When I'm home and not going anywhere - I'm in stretchy pants.
  • I'm busting out of the one pair of jeans that still "fit". I'm up 8 pounds now, and getting dressed is a nightmare. I'm wearing a hoodie tonight and even its feelimg snug. I ordered some motherhood maternity jeans and I'm hoping they get here soon. I literally cannot stand my jeans anymore. Soooooo uncomfortable!!

I swear by the belly band. I had to pull it out from hiding yesterday. I always wear a tank top over it so it can't peek out. Last pregnancy, I did wear a ton of skirts and dresses. It was just so much more comfortable!

  • Today I decided to wear a super comfy stretchy cotton skirt and quilted sweatshirt..... but then I realized the only tights I had were control top. Ugh.

  • I just bought a month subscription to Gwynnie Bee so I can tide myself over with cute bigger dresses for the next month while trying to hide my gasbabybloat at work.  This way I have an excuse to have new clothes all the time and can order a size up so stuff fits.
  • @AGK2015 - I grew up about 4 hours from Chicago in Wisconsin. It was cold, but I never understood how ya'll can deal with the weather off of the lake. I'm also a huge weenie, so I'm not leaving Texas after I get out of the military...actually, I'll be moving further south to be near DH's kids. I plan on buying some men's thermals when I go home around Christmas because they're usually a bit more roomy in the belly and I know I'll be spending a lot of time outside with my nieces and nephews. I'm really, really hoping LO will inherit his/her daddy's Latin heat to keep me warm!
  • LOL, this made me laugh because I was bragging that I was able to fit into my jeans still and out of no where I have developed a bump. It when from not being able to button them, to fear that I was about to show the world my pikachu if I moved too quickly. Last night I finally said goodbye to my pants because they left these terrible painful marks on my hips, that I thought would go away but haven't yet. Looks like its skirts for me, and yoga pants. Thank god for stretchy yoga pants.
  • I'm a teacher so I have to be dressed nice daily.  I've only gained two pounds so far but my problem is I was doing Weight Watchers (from last February until I found out I was pregnant).  I lost 25 pounds, so all of my pants from last year are too big and I don't want to buy new ones then more maternity pants.  I'm making due with the big pants and I bought some dresses that I should be able to wear for a while.
