I'd love to post a UO, but the app has just crashed for the sixth time in a row. How are companies so woefully unprepared for the release of a new iOS? Get it together.
@Chrlyr I agree with you. I am so tired of my app crashing. how long does it take to fix this problem?!
I wish that the US would become like some other countries and become family friendly to its employees. Thinking about the lack of paid maternity leave and the long hours that the majority of people work does not leave a lot of time for quality baby and family bonding time.

I may get flamed for this but here goes...My UO: I get really annoyed when people treat pets better than humans. I like animals. I think pets are so loyal and should be treated with respect and cuddled know their owners love them. But if it's a situation of a person's well-being vs a let's? Ppl win.
This annoyance is exacerbated by my neighbors who let their dogs sniff or lunge at me when I'm running. I know you love Fido and Fido may even be really cute, but I don't want him touching me today and I think it's rude you let him invade my personal space. I get more pissed when I Iunge away and their response is "Oh she's nice!" Nope, not the point. Don't want your dog touching me.

I'm not into Halloween at all as an adult. I see why it is fun for kids, but I have no interest in dressing up or going to haunted houses.
I am with you on this!!! But I have an irrational fear of people in costumes so I think that contributes to it. (Small children don't scare me but like the mall Easter bunny terrifies me)

@raesmith9- Yes!! I completely agree!! My bestie just had their first and is going back to work after only 8 weeks because she ended up using her 9th week waiting for DS to arrive. She will only going back very part time for the first 4 weeks, but still. I can't even imagine. I'm hoping and praying we can find a way for me to stay at home the whole 1st year. That more than likely will not happen depending on when this all happens, but a girl can be hopeful.

I would also love to stay home the first year as well but I make too much money to do so. I told my husband that if I did not have a well paying job and my salary would only cover cost for day care, I would so stay home with the LO.

This is the first time I've been happy that I make a lot less than DH, because when we talked finances, we figured out that my salary will basically cover day care and that's it because day care, even through my employer, is obscenely expensive. At that point, why not just stay home and take the night feedings and diaper changes so DH can get some sleep and not be dead at work?
@adiaz132003 that is hilarious and awful at the same time. The only time I think dogs in a stroller is ok is if the dog has a legit reason it can't walk. A neighbor had a pug who had surgery and couldn't walk after for a while, but she still had to walk her other dogs and the pug would cry when she left. She bought a stroller at a yard sale and put the pug in it. Happy dog.
I completely agree with everyone on the maternity leave. I think maternity leave (especially paid leave) only seems to be a UO among politicians, which is unfortunate! We have a friend in Canada and they have a very generous paid maternity leave policy, at least in Quebec it seemed. Very jealous! I'll just be over here, hoarding my vacation days.
@Ash9614 Every time I go running, I'm so worried I'm going to accidentally kick a small dog that ambles into my path. Or trip over their leash. I am not something for your dog to sniff. There are plenty other of those things around!

This is me! I bought a treadmill for my house so that I had zero excuses. The gym actually gives me crazy anxiety. I always feel like the elephant in the room trying to work out.

Yeah, I feel bad saying it ... But we basically get a full year up here in Canada. It can be split between parents if desired - I think 15 weeks is maternal and 35 is parental. My cousin's husband took the last 3 months of her leave. She went back to work after 9 months. It's not fully paid - the government pays a portion through Employment Insurance, I think it is. Some employers top up your leave... Mine doesn't, but that's ok.
A friend of mine in TX went back when her DS was only 6 weeks. That completely boggles my mind.
I hate when people dress up their dogs and carry them in purses. Or even worse, doggy/baby strollers.
Back when we were young and foolish (and didn't have a LO bleeding us dry) we totally bought a bjorn for our pug (one made for dogs, not humans). We thought it was the most hilarious thing ever. Looking back, not so much.

I sometimes find myself wishing I was still in an entry-level position so I would have the option to stay home for a while. But as it is, I make almost as much as my husband, so we would definitely miss my salary. Even taking the 12 weeks off is something we have to plan/save for, so even though I'm glad I am somewhat well-paid, it's kind of depressing in a weird way.

I am really relating to all of these UOs today. This is me, too. I find it hard to believe that there are people who actually enjoy the feeling of exercising. The feeling after? Okay, maybe. But the actual torture of the exercise, how is that possible?

I guess my UO is that I love going to the gym. We're members at the YMCA and I get two hours per day of child care included in my membership. We only pay $81/month for the whole family. The child care is amazing and the facility offers a lot of fun classes. I take some of those and do my own routine on the free floor area.
On days I don't want to workout I go and take my computer. The kids get to play and I catch up on bills and our house budget.

YES. Do I feel good after exercising knowing I did something good for my body and burned some calories? Yes. But exercising is boring to me. I'd rather sit at home and watch tv lol.

@severmilli12 I found classes that I like that make it not feel like a workout. Zumba and cardio funk are my favorites, but I love kickboxing too. I'd rather do those all the time, but they didn't give me the results I wanted so I added in my own workouts. I don't love those while I'm doing them. I also started working outside on the track during nice weather so that helps.
I hate when people dress up their dogs and carry them in purses. Or even worse, doggy/baby strollers.
Guess who just bought a doggy stroller this past weekend. This girl
When my Pomeranian was living he had vestibular disease (affects balance, coordination and elimination issues), blind and deaf. We got him through a Pom Rescue. No one else wanted him because he was an old sire (9 years old when we got him). I had DD and we would put him in with her in the double stroller to get some fresh air. No joke he wore doggy diapers and got groomed/bathed regularly (poo butt and he could not groom himself). I'm sure some folks thought I was a right psycho, but he had the best 5 years on this earth being pampered like The King of Sheba. His life was SO horrible before he was rescued (he was stuck in a cage the size of a carrier his whole life) and so I figured we'd just baby him until The Lord called him home.
We cooked great food for him and he got to sleep on an elevated bed on the level with us. I know to some humans are the highest level in their household, and pets should be pets. I just do what I want and have no regrets. My cats eat better than my toddlers sometimes (Toddler's choice, mind you.). My dad always said if reincarnation is real, may we come back as an animal that finds people like us!
My UO today...I hate reality TV. I tried watching Keeping up with the Kardashians for a while, and hear all these women talking about the Bachelor/Bachelorette, or any other reality show and I just never got into any of them.

This is so heartwarming! I'm having a rough day at work and I seriously feel better about the world now.
@primrosemama that is a perfect reason for carrying a loved pet! Your post made me smile. My pup loves outside, I don't know what I'd do if he couldn't go for walks anymore. Do they make strollers big enough to hold a 65lb Australian Shepherd?

Not a UO in my mind. Reality TV bores me to tears. I used to love the old school "reality" TV - Road Rules, Real World, very early American Idol. The shows now are just ridiculous.
I lurk. I snark. I offer sound advice if you're not BSC. You may not like me. I'm okay with it.
I hate having to choose between going to the gym and seeing my kid in the morning/at night. Given I'm going to pick him every time, I guess I'll just have to live with the chub.
Ok I'm catching up a bit but what exactly is the UO Thuraday about? Sorry I just need some explaining. I've only been member here for a month and some change.
My UO (I'm okay with flaming, I completely understand that not everyone feels like I do): I'm extremely grateful that I have a job that takes me away from my house and my DD for a chunk of every day. I need that time to decompress from being needed and to exercise my "grown up" brain. I love DD, and I desperately want another baby, but if I knew I'd have to stay home with my kids, I'd probably feel differently about it.
I'm just not SAHM material, and I'm okay with that.
Ah ok. That makes sense now. Well mine is definitely unpopular. I don't really like peanut butter. I just feel it tends to get in the way. Especially if it's mixed with chocolate. Now that being said, every Christmas I make peanut butter cookies and since it's the star ingredient I love them! And for some weird reason info love Reese's cups/pieces/minis etc. I don't do PB&Js though.
